In 1882 a baby girl caught a fever that was so fierce she nearly died. She survived but the fever left its mark she could no longer see or hear. Because she could not hear she also found it very difficult to speak.

Eventually it became clear that something had to be done. So, just before her seventh birthday, the family hired a private tutor Anne Sullivan.

Helen proved to be a remarkable scholar, graduating with honours from Radcliffe College in 1904. She had phenomenal powers of concentration and memory, as well as a dogged determination to succeed. While she was still at college she wrote ‘The Story of My Life. This was an immediate success and earned her enough money to buy her own house.

Dear Mr. Seaton，

Thank you very much for taking me with you on that splendid outing to London. It was the first time that I had seen the Tower or any of the other famous sights. If Id gone alone, I couldnt have seen nearly as much, because I wouldnt have known my way about.

The weather was splendid on that day, which I thought was rare. I still remember some people told me that in Britain there was weather and no climate. During the same day, it might snow in the morning, rain at noon, shine in the afternoon and be windy before the night falls. So I think I was lucky.

I think the river trip was the best thing of all. London really came alive for me as we saw it from the Thames during that wonderful journey down to Greenwich. It was all tremendously exciting - a day that I shall never forget.

You always arrive at the classroom ahead of any of the students, from which we could imply that you are a diligent man with regular habit. Before the class, you like to talk to us, at this very time, you are more a friend than a teacher. To be honest, I was surprised in the first class when I learned a teacher at your age could speak English in such a fluent way.(I didnt mean you are old, youre young at heart.) Moreover, you know well how to keep your class attractive. Youve got such an active mind that you can keep talking during the whole class without a pause. 我觉得我自己就具备上述要求，是一个很合格的体育委员人选。因为我每学期的体育成绩都非常优秀，两次参加校运会都取得了优异的成绩：共参加过6个体育项目，每个项目都取得了奖牌，共获得了3枚银牌、3枚铜牌！这不仅为班级体争得了荣誉，而且也证明了我在体育方面的不容争辩的势力！另外，我一贯地乐于助人，关心班集体，具有很强的集体荣誉感。还有一点，就是我的嗓音非常响亮，加上我7年的舞蹈功底，体操动作非常规范；因此，我是班里最合适的领操员。我还曾经当过一个学期的体育委员，在这个职位上积累了一定的经验。假如我能够当选，我一定会更加努力。
