fathers or forefathers. In the Roman Catholic tradition, Fathers Day is

celebrated on Saint Josephs Day, March 19, though in most countries Fathers

Day is a secular celebration.

In recent years, retailers have adapted to the holiday by selling

male-oriented gifts such as electronics and tools. Schools and other childrens

programs commonly have activities to make Fathers Day gifts.

In the United States, the driving force behind the establishment of the

celebration of Fathers Day was Mrs Sonora Smart Dodd, born in Creston,

Washington. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, as a single

parent raised his six children in Spokane, Washington. She was inspired by Anna

Jarviss efforts to establish Mothers Day. Although she initially suggested

June 5, the anniversary of her fathers death, she did not provide the

organizers with enough time to make arrangements, and the celebration was

deferred to the third Sunday of June. The first Fathers Day was celebrated on

June 19, 1910, in Spokane.

Unofficial support from such figures as William Jennings Bryan was

immediate and widespread. President Woodrow Wilson was personally feted by his

family in 1916. President Calvin Coolidge recommended it as a national holiday

in 1924. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson made Fathers Day a holiday to be

celebrated on the third Sunday of June. The holiday was not officially

recognized until 1972, during the presidency of Richard Nixon.

My father has a good friend, and I called him uncle Li. He works in a

college and teaches literature. Uncle Li is a gentleman, the way he talks and

walks shows that he has received good education. I like to discuss movies with

我看书越来越上瘾，成了一条地地道道的“书虫”。每次去书店，不买到好书，我绝不会甘心，并且会看到打烊。妈妈每次上街，我总是对她说“别忘了买书”！书，在我心中，永远比漂亮的衣服，MP4/MP5有地位。是的，我不能没有书，只要一天不看书，我的心就痒痒的。因为书给我知识，给我力量，使我懂得什么是善和恶，什么是美和丑。一本本书就象一扇扇知识的窗户，向我展示着一个个崭新的学习天地。我爱看书，好书一直伴我成长！

我很爱读书，是个名副其实的“小书虫”。读书使我很快乐，但是，读书有时候也使我进退两难。

有一次，我回到家，倒了一杯凉水，边喝边看书。我一不小心，把水洒了一桌子，我的书也弄湿了。我又急又怕，急是因为洒了一桌子水，怕是因为书弄湿了，万一后面的页都湿了怎么办？我手忙脚乱地擦干桌子上的水。然后把书上的水擦干，在湿页中间夹上小纸片，以防书页粘在一起。最后，我仔细想：是冻一下还是晒好呢？冻一下吧，书会干裂吗？晒吧，又怕书会皱掉。我终于做出了选择：冻一下吧！我小心翼翼地把书送进冰箱，几分钟后，那本书完好无损地出现在我面前，这就是多读书的好处！

二年级时，读书使我进退两难。一个课间，老师拿来了一个大西瓜，同学们一下子围到讲台边，争着让老师分西瓜吃。那时，我正沉迷一本书里无法自拔。听到老师叫我去吃西瓜时，我进退两难：吃瓜吧，可是这本书太好看了。看书吧，西瓜也很诱人呀。我琢磨了一会，终于做出了选择：继续看书！因为看书可以满足一世，而西瓜只能满足一时。

我爱看书，什么都不能阻止我在书的世界探索的步伐。

《寓言中的道理》是由一篇篇生动的寓言故事得出的启示、感悟组成的。每一章内容大致是这样的：标题上面有从故事中总结的一句富含哲理的话，然后是一篇有趣的寓言故事，还配着一幅插图;在故事后面，有道理一，道理二，道理三;最后还会讲一篇与寓言相辅的真人故事。三部分就能让你读透这篇寓言，学到很多课外的知识。

当然，只是说一说组成部分，你可能还不会去读这本书。在这里，我说一说我从上面读到的，令我印象最深的一篇吧!

《井底的驴》是这本书上的第一篇寓言，让我受益匪浅。他说的是一头驴掉进了一口枯井里，主人没有办法把它救出来，决定把它活埋在这口枯井里，顺便把这口枯井填死，便请了几个人来帮他填土。驴子嘶叫着，可当他明白了什么之后，便停止了嘶叫。主人很好奇，没想到驴子竟然把每一次落在身上的土都抖下来，用力踩在脚下，不一会儿，驴子竟把自己升到了井口。这篇文章的三个道理是：永远不要灰心，命运掌握在自己手里，不能放弃。总结出的一句话：关键时候，你会发现真正的救世主是你自己。

《快乐作文与阅读》是一种长期订阅的书籍，开头是四个小记者观察后写的日记，每篇文章都很生动，也非常有意思，文章的题目更是各不相同：《车上飙歌记》、《心情对对碰》，看到这样的题目，我就想知道作者到底写了什么内容。

接下来就是考场四十分类的作文了。这个模块的作文多种多样，中间还有司马老师的批改，这们还可以对比一下自己是不是有这样的错误。作文书的最后还有失分原因和加分建议，我经常人借鉴失分的原因，这样也会填补自己的作文。再往后翻，就出现了我最喜欢的造龙兵工厂模块的作文了，每一篇都是根据几个图画来写的，很具体，也非常有意思，我经常着迷地看着这些童话，里面的故事情节让我感动。

I have rested for a week. I began to feel bored. So I went out with my

friends. They are my best friends in the middle school. We didn’t go to

someplace special. We just saw the other. We had lunch together. While we were

having lunch, we were still talking about the new school and new friends.

“书山有路勤为径，学海无涯苦作舟”。我读过一本书——《笑猫日记》。是当代有名的中国作家：杨红樱。曾经被誉为“中国宣传文化系统四个一批人才”。获得过国际安徒生奖。主要讲了属猫人的日常生活。

书中，我十分欣赏一个人物——笑猫。它会笑，精通各种动物的语言，还听得懂人说话。而且，它帮助好人，惩罚坏人，在翠湖公园里生活。

我为什么喜欢《笑猫日记》呢?因为整本书都是以一只猫的口吻讲述的，没有深奥难懂的哲理，全部都是通俗易懂的语言。还让我知道了猫的思想、猫的一些奇奇怪怪的行为。还在里面加入了一些天马行空的想象，什么都闻到孩子味的绿毛龟啊……有时里面又会出现一些人生大道理。有感人的、伤心的、幽默的，总能时不时地给我一个惊喜大礼包，唤来我的情绪。

我最喜欢的是《马拉松赛跑》这一章。讲了土猫人成熟稳重，水猫人有读心术;风猫人有三心二意，容易分散注意力;火猫人骄傲自大，还老顶着一个大皇冠……比赛时，火猫人还遥遥领先，土猫人被甩在后面，但后来，火猫人力气都用完了，土猫人趁机加速，超过了火猫人。可风猫人却追起了蝴蝶。比赛结果当然是土猫人第一，水猫人第二，风猫人不见踪影，火猫人累得生气不接下气，也不肯摘下皇冠。这也让我知道了做什么都不能太骄傲，否则只会适得其反。
