从前，有一只老虎和一只狮子在玩水，它们玩得可快活了。一会儿，用水枪喷水，一会儿，把水洒在地上，就这样把水浪费了。这时，它们的一举一动被小白兔发现了。小白兔劝他们说：“如果你们再这样玩下去的话，那地球上就没有水了。到那时，我们就没有水喝了，就没有生命了，怎么办呢?再说，你们也会遭到报应了。”可是他们两个不听小白兔的劝告，说：“开什么玩笑，地球上会没有水才怪!我们才不听你在这里胡说八道呢!”说完，它们照样玩起水来。小白兔怎么劝告，他们也不听小白兔只有唉声叹气地走了。终于，有一天发生了大旱灾。全都是老虎和狮子干的好事。他们口渴了，想要喝水都没有水喝。这时他们才醒悟过来，并且拼命地向老天爷乞求降水，可是老天爷早已知道他们的所作所为，所以想惩罚他们。这时，老虎和狮子已知道所做的一切是错误的，并且用自己的生命来发誓，以后再也不浪费水了。老天爷为老虎和狮子的发誓而感动，于是，那天晚上足足下了一夜的大雨，河里、田里都填满了水，老虎跟狮子都非常高兴。

经过这次的教训，老虎和狮子对水有了正确的认识，他们以后再也不会浪费水了。
