今天我演讲的题目是：做一个自信的人。

什么是自信?自信，就是自己信得过自己，自己看得起自己。它，不是孤芳自赏，也不是夜郎自大，更不是得意忘形和自以为是;而是激励自己奋发进取的一种心里素质，是以高昂的斗志，充沛的干劲迎接生活挑战的一种乐观情绪;是战胜自己，告别自卑，摆脱烦恼的一种灵丹妙药。

还记得，我刚刚升入初中时，面对新的环境，面对那么多的新的课程和学习内容，我对自己失去了信心，逐渐产生了自卑心理，成绩不断下滑，是老师和妈妈及时帮助我、鼓励我，让我重新找回自信。渐渐的，我的学习成绩及各个方面都有明显进步，逐渐适应了初中的生活。

朋友们，让我们告别自卑，做一个自信的人吧。因为：只有拥有自信，才能拥有自我;只有拥有自信，才能走向成功，才能创造自己辉煌的人生。

哲学家苏格拉底曾说：“世界上最快乐的事，莫过于为理想而奋斗”。每个人都有自己的理想，并一直朝着这个目标奋斗着，这的确是一件快乐的事。我也有我自己的理想--做一名英语翻译家。

你们一定想知道我为什么要做英语翻译家？因为我从小就喜欢英语。在我上幼儿园，第一次接触英语的时候，老师教我们读“apple苹果”，“banana香蕉”，老师怕我们不懂，还特意拿来香蕉，指着香蕉对我们说：“这是不是很像‘b’呢？上面瘦瘦的，下面胖胖的。一个个香蕉就成了banana，这样，香蕉的英语是不是很容易拼出来。”老师还教我们学了很多英语单词。从那以后，我就喜欢上了英语。

下面我们来看发生在南京一所铁桥大学的真实故事。

大约五年前，这所着名的南京大学里出了一位高极桥梁设计师，他刚到任不久，就接到了设计南京大桥的任务，他日夜仔细钻研，查阅了大量的文献资料，倾注了他所有的心血和努力来设计这座大桥，两年后，大桥以他的设计方案建成，此桥极其雄伟壮观，他的母校南京大学也因此一跃成名，倍受人们赞赏。

这个消息很快就传遍了南京，当人们都在对南京大学的造桥技术议论纷纷时，该大学的校长却做出了一个令谁也想不到的决定：用重金买下这堆废铁，再用这堆废铁打造若干个“耻辱戒指”，上面刻上“耻辱”二字，给每个在校学生都戴上，以此警戒自已!这位校长的做法不但没有损失钱财，而且还给世人树立了一个好的榜样——让学生勿忘耻辱，从此发奋努力学习，不让悲剧再次重演。这样，既得到了教训，又会激励其奋发向上，更加进步，这岂不是一举两得吗?

我们作为一名中学生，在学习、生活中必然会遇到或多或少的磨难与挫折，我们一定不能被困难打倒，不能总是沉浸在失败的痛苦中，而是要吸取教训，向前看齐，再不断努力，终有一天，我们会登上成功的舞台!
