Now known as the Palace Museum， it is to the north of Tiananmen Square. Rectangular in shape， it is the world‘s largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. The bricks were made from white lime and glutinous rice while the cement is made from glutinous rice and egg whites. These incredible materials make the wall extraordinarily strong.

Since yellow is the symbol of the royal family， it is the dominant color in the Forbidden City. Roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles; decorations in the palace are painted yellow; even the bricks on the ground are made yellow by a special process. However， there is one exception. It represents a new beginning when people send off the old days and welcome the new ones. As the first day of the year, Yuandan has been considered to be the most important festival since the ancient times.

Customs

1. Kaisui(beginning of the year): According to the Chinese traditional custom, starting from haishi(9p.m. to 11p.m.)of the last evening of the twelfth lunar month, each family must prepare offering s to deities at the altar. At the same time, they too prepare food for the New Year day: The whole family will then stay awake together to attend to the year(called shou sui). After haishi, zishi(11p.m. to 1a.m.)will come, and this is the arrival of New Year(Yuandan). At this moment, people begin the celebration with fireworks. Vegetarian and sweet foods will then be placed are the altar for offerings, and incense be burned to welcome the deities. In the ancient times, it was believed that haishi connected the two years and thus was called kaisui.

At the same night, some families will follow the instruction in Tongshu and place preparing altar in the direction of the "fortune deity" during the "fortune time" to receive the deity. If the direction of the "fortune deity" is at the "ill position", people will choose to receive "happy deity" or "noble deity" instead.

2. There is an apparent difference in the custom of food taking on Yuandan between the Chinese in the northern and southern regions. The northern Chinese has the habit of taking jiao zi(dumpling made of flour with vegetable and meat wrapped inside). Some people may put a sweet or a coin inside jiao zi, hoping to have a sweet year after tasting the sweet and a wealthy year after tasting the coin. on the other hand, the southern Chinese have the taboo for killing on Yuandan. Therefore, they do not take meat in tee morning of Yuandan, so as to avoid bloodshed or mutual slaughter. In order to evade misfortune, they have the first meal of this day without meat. Instead, they take vegetarian food for the sake of virtue.

3. What is special during the New Year is that parents or elders will distribute red packets(ang pao or ya sui qian)to the children. People in the ancient times were more particular in giving away the red packets: the distribution took place on the eve of New Year so that the kids could suppress the past year and enter the New Year. Ya sui has the meaning of overcoming the unpredictable future. Representing the wishes for the healthy psychological growth of the children, ya sui qian symbolises the elders hope to see their children overcome all the unpredictable elements brought by the "year".

我的班主任是一个见谁都笑的人，和蔼可亲的`样子有人会觉得他是不是都不会生气，那你就想错了。

我们的班主任子不高，身材微胖，看着很喜感的一个人，常常会在上课的时候开玩笑。让我们全班哈哈大笑。就是这样一个有趣的人，认真上课起来没谁能比得过，该严肃的时候一丝不苟，所以我们都很敬佩他!他处置坏学生的做法也很有趣，比如要他们去厕所做俯卧撑，到门口守门当门神，各种有趣的惩罚方式，真是让人哭笑不得。

我的班主任发脾气的时候也让人害怕不敢吱声，都说不经常发脾气的人一爆发起那就不得了，记得有一次，有一个男同学，上课吃东西还把包装袋扔向别人，班主任那时候正在认真的讲课，突然看到了，立刻拉着那位同学出去，那同学死活不肯出去，老师和他在那里相互拉扯，最后老师拖着他出去的，之后发生什么我们也都不知道，只知道那位男同学哭得很惨!我们的班主任为人正直，也不像有的老师偏心学习好的同学，他对我们都很关心，一视同仁!他陪伴我们的日子我们都很开心，学习也有很大的进步，遇到这样的老师真是我们的荣幸，我很喜欢我们的班主任!老师总是会说你们学习好与坏，有我一半的责任，我需要改，你们也需要改。

我的班主任在我们快考试的时候会不厌其烦一遍又一遍地给我们复习，看到我们又困又累的样子就叫我们休息几分钟，别累坏了。他还会给我们唱歌，给我们减压。还记得那时候我们初二，初中生不过六一儿童节了吧。那天老师上课，拿着一口袋的棒棒糖给我们分，还跟我们说儿童节快乐。真的很开心有这样一位让人敬佩的老师。不管是骂你还是表扬你，都是老师爱你的表现。我们的班主任是最有趣的老师。

My name is ---, from Anhui province. Now I study in Zhejiang University of Technology as a postgraduate, and will be graduated July this year. My major is chemical engineering and technology.

我国古代作品中的人物繁多，如：足智多谋的诸葛亮、生性多疑的曹操、阿谀奉承的王熙凤……但我最喜欢的，还是那憨厚老实的猪八戒。

猪八戒的幽默风趣，总是能让我们哈哈大笑。当他们师徒四人被困在金角大王和银角大王的洞里时，猪八戒又是闹又是叫救命。当金角大王说是要吃猪八戒的肉时，总是把孙悟空搬出来。

当然，猪八戒也总在关键时候“掉链子”。在大师兄孙悟空扮成妖怪就要救出师徒三人时，猪八戒竟把孙悟空假扮妖怪的事说了出来，害得大师兄只能想别的办法。

猪八戒不好的一面当然就是好吃懒做、贪图美色啦!每次吃饭时，就数猪八戒吃得最多，甚至有时还把别人的那份也给吃了。可是，师傅或是大师兄让猪八戒打水，他就不愿意了，总是有一堆理由来证明“我不想打水”，就算他真去打了水，也是心不甘、情不愿的。贪图美色，就体现在他去高老庄的那次。他想和高老庄里的小姐成亲，可是因为长相，小姐不愿意，他就强迫小姐和他成亲，还把她关起来，直到唐僧师徒的到来，此时才有一个真正的了结。有时，他遇上长得漂亮的妖精也会“犯病”。

这就是我眼中的猪八戒，可能有时会好吃懒做，被美色给迷惑，但这应该也是他表达可爱的一种吧!当然，他在我眼中更是幽默风趣、憨厚老实的，我喜欢猪八戒!

我是一名阳光、性格外向的初中生，我乐于帮助他人，积极参加课内外的各项活动，上课时积极举手发言，在班中，我担任体育委员和纪律委员的工作，是老师的好帮手，在家中，我会做一些家务，是父母的好孩子。

我积极参与学校组织的各类活动，曾经代表学校去参加篮球比赛、足球比赛，虽然不是每一次我们都获得了很好的名次，虽然不是每一次比赛我们都能获得胜利，但是我们都能从中获取经验和教训。

It is known to all that today the environment has been badly polluted.

Though many action have been taken to protect our environment, it still has a

long way to go. Two years ago, I went to middle school, and the first moment I

saw the environment, I found that trees were very small, and many workers were

busy planting trees. Now, when I looked around our school, the trees were taller

than people and they grew so fast. People always talk about planting trees but

less of them can take action. If they plant trees immediately, then there would

be more green scenery. Protecting the environment is not just words. We should

take action right now.

熱帶雨林天地，其中一個最刺激的主要景點。裡面的主要設施有：熱帶雨林探險徑和熱帶激流。熱帶雨林探險徑是一很長的探險徑，裡面有多不勝數的熱帶動物，最著名的就是一條巨蟒。我只去看了一次，就嚇到了。他很長很長，長到不知道怎麼說了。我旁邊一個天真的小女孩躲在她媽媽的懷抱里，問："他會吃了我嗎？”一個職員聽到了，友善地說：“不會的，我們每天都會餵它一些家禽和小動物，他剛剛才吃飽了，不會吃你的。這時候，那個小妹妹就笑了，並且把手伸到玻璃上，想摸那條巨蟒。

第二個主要設施是熱帶激流，也是我最喜歡的機動遊戲。首先警告一下，會濕身的。為什麼我要警告呢？因為我曾經和一對遊客坐在同一艘探险橡皮艇里，他們自以為是，覺得不會很濕。最後，就變成了一隻”落湯雞“。所以，記著要帶雨衣哦！

在旅途中，你會和其他人坐在一艘橡皮艇里，那個橡皮艇自轉又圍著軌道公轉，好像地球的移動，但是我敢保證，你不會暈的，所以不用吃暈浪丸。一路上，會有機器噴水，也會有人走完熱帶雨林探險徑，來到出口噴你們。不用求饒，他們是不會心軟的。你們還要穿過黑暗的山洞，在那兒顛顛又倒倒，非常刺激！
