Genghis Khan, "Khan of Khans", was the great leader of Mongolians. At the end of 12th century, he united Mongolian tribes and challenged other powers to expand his huge Mongolian empire, which extended from South China to the Caspian Sea.

In 1277, Khan attacked the West Xia Kingdom (presently Ningxia) and encountered strong resistance. He died of disease and age. The great emperor was later buried secretly according to Mongolian custom. It says that after the burial 2,000 men were slaughtered by some 800 soldiers who were in turn executed so that the location of the real tomb remains a secret.

There are four sacrifice ceremonies held annually to commemorate the great hero and leader of the Mongolian people. The ceremony, held on March 21st on lunar calendar, is the grandest. After the ceremony, horse racing, archery and wrestling are held as entertainment.

Chinese people always appreciate the purposes and principles of Olympic ideal, support the efforts of Olympic Games to promote world peace. The International Childrens Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year.

The ICD had its origin in the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. “我爱我的祖国，爱我的人民，离开了她，离开了他们，我就无法生存，更无法写作。”这句爱国名言出自伟大的作者巴金口中。让我自已想想，如果没有现在的新中国，就没有现在的大民族。黄河是我们的母亲河，它的颜色是我们中国的象征，无论你走到哪里，你就可以骄傲地说：“我有一身黄色的皮肤，我来自中国。”

我国还有四大之最：世界最长的古代防御工事——万里长城，世界最高的咸水湖——纳木错，世界最高峰——珠穆朗玛峰，世界最低盆地——新疆吐鲁番盆地。还有我国的四大名着《红楼梦》，《三国演义》，《水浒传》，《西游记》。都是我们中国的成就。

但是这些成就的背后，有一段屈辱的历史，是一条条不平等的条约，一箱箱鸦片磨灭了中国人的精神，是外族侵略者让中国战火纷飞。而一个个中华儿女渐渐崛起，林则徐将多少人从鸦片中拯救，岳飞将一个个可恶的侵略者打退……他们都在为中国奋斗着，我们应该将他们铭记在心。

而我们现在要做的是，好好学习，树立远大理想，长大干出一番事业，为祖国争光，祖国应你们而感到自豪。

大家好！

当我们满怀激情地唱起《中华人民共和国国歌》时，当我们向前辈们用鲜血染红的五星红旗敬礼时，当我们听前辈说起中国曾经受过的屈辱时，心中都会无比激动。中国有蜿蜒壮观的万里长城，有世界上最高的珠穆朗玛峰，可中国还有一些不堪回首的屈辱往事。1840年，英国就向中国发起了鸦片战争，中国战败，被迫签订了丧权辱国的《南京条约》，此后法国，德国，意大利，日本等，都纷纷强迫中国政府签订一系列不平等条约。

在残酷的战争中，很多英雄人物为了中国能够日渐强大，不惜牺牲自己的生命。狼牙山五壮士为了掩护大部队安全转移，与敌人斗智斗勇，在大部队安全转移后，为了不让日本人获取情报，相继跳下山崖；共产党员赵一曼，被日军俘虏，仍不屈服，日军暴跳如雷，砍去了赵一曼的右臂还让她背上千斤重的铁链，在日军的种种折磨下，她最终死亡，年终时31岁。这些英雄人物，为了中国的未来，将自己的生命置之度外，我们才可以在这么好的环境下读书，工作，学习。我们现在一定要好好学习，将来为了祖国尽自己的一份绵薄之力。同学们，让我们同心协力，共同创造美好的未来。我的演讲到此结束，谢谢大家。

Youth

Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .

When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.

大家早上好！今天我要演讲的题目是“祖国在我心中”。

如果你打开世界地图问我，你最喜欢的是哪个国度，我会毫不犹豫地说：“我最喜欢的是我的祖国——中国，那个令人骄傲和自豪的文明古国。”

我们的祖国有着几千年灿烂璀璨的文化，有着上下五千多年的悠久历史，是一颗璀璨夺目的明珠，高耸入云的珠峰告诉我们，祖国高高在上，清新沁脾的空气告诉我们，在这里没有战争，没有悲伤；这里向往着和平，有的只是欢声笑语，这里生长着五十六朵美丽的鲜花，这五十六朵鲜花正在竞相开放，装点着祖国的万里大花园！

虽然今天的祖国是那么的繁荣昌盛，可是同学们你们知道吗？在过去，我们的祖国又饱尝了多少磨难与艰辛，那断尘封的历史，我们永远都会记得，永远都不会忘记！鸦片战争、“九一八”事变，圆明园的毁灭、南京大屠杀……曾让我们的祖国伤痕累累，还有那些不平等条约，一想起来就让人愤慨痛恨。八年的抗日战争坚苦卓绝，直到1949年的10月1日，当毛泽东主席正式宣布，新中国正式成立时，中国这头沉睡的雄狮才正式苏醒，神洲六号的首次登月，2008年第29届奥运会在北京的举行，中国梦的号召，南水北调的实施……我们的祖国傲立东方，举世瞩目！

作为华夏儿女的我们，让我们一起高喊一声：“祖国万岁！”
