Lìchūn (pīnyīn) or Risshun (rōmaji) (Chinese and Japanese:立春; Korean: 입춘; Vietnamese: Lập xuân; literally: "start of spring") is the 1st solar term. It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 315° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 330°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 315°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around February 4 and ends around February 18 (February 19 East Asia time).

Lichun signifies the beginning of spring in East Asian cultures. Chinese New Year is celebrated around this time. Farmers often celebrate the beginning of Lichun with special village events, worship and offerings to the gods and ceremonies for a blissful and prosperous new year. In China, people eat chūnbǐng (春餅) on this day.

In the lunisolar calendar, New Years Day might be before or after Lichun. A year without Lichun is called 無春年 (no spring year). 無春年 is also known as 寡婦年 (widow year) in northern China or 盲年 (blind year) in southern China. Marriage is believed to be unlucky in a year without Lichun.

In the Republic of China, Lichun has been Farmers Day since 1941.

My Chinese New Year for this year was fantastic!

I went to Hai Nan with my parents during the Chinese New Year and visited my relatives over there. The weather over there was beautiful. It was so much warmer than my city. We stayed in a hotel and we spent a lot of time on the beaches. My parents also took me for a ride round the island. It was so much fun and I wish it was longer.

Life is a mirror. If we smile to her, she would also return the happiness

to us. But if we cry, she would be disappointed. Therefore, we should be

positive toward life, so as to get happiness.

Actually, happiness is everywhere if we keep a good attitude. As we keep a

good mood, our world will be a sunny land, which is resounded with soft music.

However, if we are pessimists, well find our world is full of darkness.

While on the other side, happiness is not a destination but a

journey.Because theres no paradise at all, but we can make a paradise if were

hard-working and intelligent. So we should work like we dont need money, smile

like weve never been hurt, and perform ourselves like no one can see us.
