Let me just start by saying that I had been put off reading Thomas Hardye by Dickens. Having really struggled with Dickens and resorted to audio I had wrongly assumed that all 19C liturature was the same. How wrong I could be. From the first paragraph where the opening character farmer Gabriel Oak is desribed smiling, ‘the corners of his mouth spread till they were an unimportant distance from his ears‘ I fell in love with Hardy‘s narrative. His ability to use words that lift the description off the page and into the reader‘s imagination are not just outstanding but incredibly enjoyable.

I went into this book blindly, knowing little about the plot that lay ahead or even the genre. It has been described by some as romantic fiction. But I think this is too simplistic a title and and maybe slightly off-putting to some. Hardye steps into Greek Tragedy when the unwitting and churlish actions of our young protagonist, Bathsheba Everdene, result in a love tryst between three suitors with tragic consequenses.

The book is essentially a journey for Bathsheba into womanhood not unlike the journey that Scarlett O‘Hara makes in Gone with the Wind who also has to overcome great tragedy in order to realise her own strength. Unlike this heroin, however, Bathsheba is more the instrument of chaos and indecion and part of her journey is that she accepts what she has caused and tries to make it right.

Hardye avoids making this into moral stricture but deviates from the Greek Tragedy model by giving us a happy ending not atypical of 19C serialised fiction.

Quite often an author‘s voice creeps into their writing and the reader becomes aware that they are not in fact walking the hills and dales of fictional Wessex but are at the pen nib of a writ

The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a great part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.

I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.

On summer vacation of this year, I studied in novel " old man and sea " of Hemingway , famous writer of U.S.A. ,. I admire the old fishermans will in the novel very much, he lets me understand that a person must have unremitting spirit, could succeed . What the novel is described is an old fisherman almost the sixty years old, when go to sea and fish alone once, have angled to a big fish, but can not draw. After tough fisherman and fish have socialized for a few days, just find this is a big Malins fish which exceeds several times of ones own fishing boat, though know perfectly well that it is very difficult to win , does not give up yet. Because big Malin fish fishlike smell of wound attract odd herds of shark vie for the food again later, but the old man is still unwilling to give up like this, stress the tight encirclement finally , take the large fish back to fishing port , let other fishmen admire it endlessly. The old fisherman thinks that as I read ": It is really too close from here to coast, perhaps there are bigger fish in the farther place ……" When,admire very much because this old fisherman in the persons, because play not for some fishing he already at this moment I, but he is not satisfied with the existing state of affairs , but advance towards greater goal. Seeing us again, meet some little difficulties at ordinary times , all of us complain bitterly. We are the future of the motherland, should be as ambitious as this old man, go to pursue well , greater goal. We should study the old fishermans spirit too in life, do the thing and is not afraid of the difficulty , could achieve success . Finally, the novel sees with a teenager that old fisherman has 18 feet of big long Malins fish totally in the tolerance , the ones that have described this fish are enormous again, prove that old fishermans difficulty overcome is big, than ordinary. Old fishermans spirit that makes great efforts to struggle fearless of danger and difficulty that the novel has been extolled, we should be like him too, can t be satisfied with the current situation , should be positive upwards, it should be unremitting to do anything, it must not give up halfway to meeting difficulty should meet the difficulty. Only in this way, we could obtain greater success and victory .

中国名著《三国演义》我是对它有看不厌。曹操、张鸽、诸葛亮、刘备、周瑜……个个各性鲜明、神态自若的人物，在战争中演着一个又一个精彩的战争故事。“空城计”“草船借箭”“三气周瑜”等等。这些故事更能衬托出诸葛亮的神机妙算。真是让人佩服得五体投地。

将来我会更加的喜欢读书，因为读书的过程中，我感受到了许多的乐趣。

无意中我又翻到了之前看的这本《成语故事之掩耳盗铃》，在课本上我们也学习过这则故事，可今天我再看时，脸不由自主的红了。

相信大家都听过这个故事，故事讲的是一个小偷看到别人家的门铃十分喜欢，于是晚上就搬来板凳，准备把它偷走。可是小偷知道只要他一碰铃，这家人就会听到，肯定会也来抓他。他突然想到了一个好办法：那就是只要掩住耳朵，那不就听不到铃声了吗？于是，他掩住自己的耳朵，准备盗铃，谁知他一碰铃就被别人听到了，把他捉了个正着。

哎！这个小偷真是傻啊，你这不是自欺欺人吗？你捂住自己的耳朵，只有你听不到铃声，但人家照样可以听到呀！活该你被抓。再说，你有手有脚的，怎么不通过自己的双手的辛勤劳动来获取门铃呢。

在指责书中小偷的同时，我不由得想到我也干过这样的事，也曾自欺欺人过。记得那次放学后，我到家就看起了电视忘了写作业这回事了。第二天一上课，老师就问：“大家的作业都写完了吗？”我这才想起来我根本没写作业，可现在再写已经来不及了，我只好硬着头皮跟着同学们附和：“写完了。”本以为就此能蒙混过去，只要我说写完了别人肯定不会怀疑的，谁知一向不检查作业的老师今天却开始检查起作业来。完了，完了，该怎么办呢？老师离我越来越近，我就感到我越来越紧张，手心都冒汗了。突然我灵机一动，开始翻起书包来，等到老师走到我跟前时，我装作十分着急的样子说：“老师，我作业忘带了。”或许老师看我表演的这么着急，又或许是不想拆穿我的谎言对我说：“下次记得带来。”我一下松了口气，开始为自己的小聪明感到骄傲。当时自作聪明的我，课后我并没有把作业补上。

直到今天再看这本书，我才发现我竟然和书中的小偷一样，干着自欺欺人的事情，而且不止一次耍着我那引以为傲的小聪明。书中的小偷是捂着耳朵以为他听不到铃声，别人也一样听不到铃声。而我是捂着耳朵告诉自己你这样做是对的，不去听别人的任何声音。照这样下去，我害得不是别人，反而是我自己。其实生活中，我相信有很多人和我一样，干着自欺欺人的事，从现在开始请大家和我一起反省吧！

再次遇到这样的书是我的幸运，我要改正我这个自欺欺人的坏毛病，做一个诚实、上进的好学生。

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodnecould conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodneis omnipotent yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me the nature of goodneis one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodneis to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodneis an utterly worthleperson. On the contrary as the famous saying goes ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’ he who is with goodneundoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodnein humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’ they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay ‘Goodness of all virtues and dignities of the mind is the greatest being the character of the Deity and without it man is a busy mischievous wretched thing no better than a kind of vermin.’

The novel tells us that the best people to increase the dignity of life is love. Novels by the end of the row that this is such a life. Although I think this kind of outcome is too perfect, so perfect a little superficial, but I still respect this author The ideal of a better kind of life. Is to increase the dignity of love. In modern society, few people will like Jane Eyre, for the love for the character and abandon all, and without looking back.s Whole-hearted pursuit of pay, and pure like a glaof ice water ……

Let me tell what I feel after reading the great work Jane Erye.I was really move by Jane Erye after closing the book.What a kind and good woman!Mrs Eyre had a heart of gold.She really loved everyone around her,and gave others help sincerely（真诚地）。She respected herself and did her best to do everything.I really love her.She are both a great teacher and a good friend of mine.Sometimes when I am confuse，I will think of her.I will imagine what will she do if she is I.Why not read Jane Erye my friends!

This winter vacation,I read agreat book《Bookworm》。In gread 1,I appreciate the beauty of the moon,and,I know Mary,queen of Soctss story……In a word,Ibenefited a lot of in it.I really like this book.

scarlett , a very personality figures ，the two mans she love ,neither does she know about.to her, i was compelled to admire, admire her strong and brave, admire her to lay down in the environment, farm workers previously suffered education, admire her to disregard the community to create their own expression of the cause .she is in the whole story, all a person full of fighting will full of vitality . i appreciated most , it is this " tomorrow is another day of hers. " ’gone with the wind’ is absolutely a good book that is worth sampling repeatedly, the characters are graceful , the plot rises and falls, exciting boldly and uncon strainedly, though the subjective factor because of the author among them , the appraisal on u.s.a.’s civil war is not objective and overall, but as to angle of literature, this one fine piece of writing generation definitely absolutely, worth visiting.

despite i’ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very complex. “i”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612. the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

《老人与海》讲述的一名孤独的老人出海已有八十四次，但是每一次都是一鱼不获，前四十次还有一位小男孩陪伴，但后来小男孩因父母的劝说不能和老人一起出海打鱼。老人在岸上只能和小男孩说话，在海上却只能自言自语。再第八十五次打鱼时，老人偶然碰到了一只马林鱼，老人虽然独力勇捕了一只十八英长的马林鱼，却无力驱杀争食的“牙利鬼”。他败了，但是带回去的马林残骸，向众渔夫见证了他虏获的战利品并非夸大，而是真正的光荣。故事结束时，老人不甘放弃，仍然和男孩准备在跨海出征。正如“乡愁诗人”余光中先生所说的：“《老人与海》真是一片刚阳﹑壮阔、紧添的杰作。”
