The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the lanterns. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling. Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar

pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent lanterns, fireworks form a

我的家乡座落在长江中下游，它是六朝古都－－南京。从古至今有许多名字：白下、金陵、玄武、南京……这里的风景迷人。秋天去栖霞山你便可看见火红的枫叶；冬天去梅花山便可看见不畏严寒的梅花，它在寒风中开放，染红了山坡；春天去总统府便可看见大朵大朵的牡丹花，开得红艳艳；夏天去玄武湖便可看见竟相开放的荷花出污泥而不染。道路的两旁绿树成荫，这可是南京人的骄傲。

南京历史悠久。有纪念伟人孙中山的中山陵。你可别小瞧了总统府，它可是两江总都府。总统府里有三寸金莲、老虎灶、古代的大*……

七、八月份大家去江心洲一定是满载而归。因为这时正举办南京独有的葡萄节，每年都有几万人过来吃葡萄、亲手摘葡萄。江心洲的葡萄品种也很多，有“美人指、巨峰”等，有一些农民把自己种的葡萄摘下来，供游人免费品尝。

夜晚的夫子庙更是灯火通明、人流如潮。特别是元宵节的夜晚，人们一般下午四点钟左右就早早地来到了夫子庙，先逛逛街，到了六点去小吃店里吃元宵。吃完了元宵一定要去买花灯，有荷花灯、小鱼灯、白兔灯……买回家的花灯一定要挂在家中的最高的地方，预示着这一年你们家一定过得非常幸福。

来吧！我邀请你到我们南京来做客。我们学校在江苏省南京市玄武区四牌楼4号，南京师范大学附属小学四（3）班。

我长得很帅，头发很长，尤其是前面的头发，不但长，而且还很卷，我的皮肤很黑。

我的性格有点怪，有时很爱笑，有时也很暴躁，我很勇敢，但是害怕蜘蛛。我有个缺点，就是管理不好时间，上课总迟到，写作业很长时间也写不完。遇到该做决定的时候，总是犹犹豫豫，最后什么也决定不了，都是爸爸妈妈帮我做的决定。

但我也有很多优点，画画非常好，是我们班画画最好的。我还很热情大方、乐于助人。我有很非常多的朋友，我和他们的关系都很好。这就是我，一个活泼可爱的小男孩儿。
