For many years until she passed away, Nancy had served as a goodwill ambassador of the American people who made unremitting efforts to promote exchanges between the United States and China. The Stilwell Scholarship she founded helps support deserving students from China who have come to the Monterey Institute to pursue professional degrees in translation and interpretation, international policy studies, language teaching and business management.

Every May in Chinese lunar calendar is Dragon Boat Festival, do you know anything about it? Let me speak for you.

Once upon a time, there was a patriotic poet Qu Yuan, once he went to Beijing to go to work, see a decline of state variable, then vote Miluo River to commit suicide. Before he died, he wrote a poem. People in order to commemorate the patriotic poet, the annual Lunar New Year in May at the beginning of a dragon boat festival.

The main contents of the Dragon Boat Festival is the dragon boat racing, zongzi.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double FifthFestival, is celebrated

on May 5th on lunarcalendar.It is a folk festival widely spread with ahistory of

over 2,000 years, and is one of the mostimportant Chinese festivals as well.

There are variouscelebrating activities on that day, among which the customs of

eating rice dumplings anddragon boat racing are quite important.There are many

legends on the origin of the DragonBoat Festival.Some people think it is to

commemorate the poet Qu Yuan, while others say it isto be in honour of Wu Zi_u,

a famous general during the Warring States period. However, thelegend of Qu Yuan

spreads most widely. People appreciate highly the noble sentiment andprominent

记得有一次，她边看书边下楼，走到还剩一级楼梯，她以为没有了，一步跨过，跌的鼻青脸肿。痛的她“诶呦”“诶呦”直叫。

她还不吸取教训，边走路边看书，才走几步就撞到大树了，她大叫：“诶呀!可痛死我了!”我大笑起来：“哈哈哈哈!走路不看路，得到报应了吧!”她看着我不好意思地笑了笑。可离学校还远着呢，她还是边走边看。后来撞上了一个人，她叫了一声，抬头一看，急忙说：“对不起，对不起，”那位阿姨说：“小孩子啊，走路看路别跟小鹿乱窜一样!”

上完课回家的时候张楚疑又在抱怨了，“今天真是奇怪，不是这受伤就是那受伤，”张楚疑气愤的说，“我说你这人和我在一起是丢我脸的吧?一下跌楼梯，一下撞树，还撞人，真以为自己是铁做的呀?”我边说边笑了起来张楚疑却在那脸红着呢!

星期六，我和张楚疑约好下午2点去溜冰，我吃完饭在她楼下等了20多分钟，见她还没下来，我走到她家去，见她一个人在家边看书边吃饭，我叫了她好多声，都不理我，看样子真是达到走火入魔的境地了。我灵机一动，何不借此机会给他个教训?我把一瓶辣椒酱倒在空碗里，再夹一些菜，她竟然没发现，吃了一口的辣椒酱，满嘴血红，她跳了起来，“是谁?是谁干的?水，快给我水，辣死我啦!”我则在一旁偷偷笑着。这样的笑话，他还出了不少。

这就是我的好朋友，一个拥有古怪特点的好朋友。

还记得在上初三的时候，所有的学科最没有信息的就是物理，上课的时候特别无奈，无论是电流还是电阻，好像都不认识我，每次物理检测都是少得可怜的分数，跟别的学科就不能比，没办法，只有补课。第一次，我心有余悸的告诉老师我那个不会，什么地方不懂，老师都是一遍遍讲给我听。老师说我基础不太好，先给我从最基本的讲。

简单的几句话而已，激起了我对物理的兴趣，我知道自己不如别人，所以很努力，还有老师无微不至的照顾，我记得很清楚，距中考还有一周的时候，那次物理检测，我考了96分，多我来说已经很好了，物理成绩从第19名到底6名，很不错了，我很感动，因为我知道，是那几句话，我知道了物理老师并没有看不起我，没有嫌弃我物理太差，反而对我更耐心的指导，培养了我对物理的兴趣。老师做的一切，我看在眼里，记在心里。

三年前的暑假，我去了北京，住在那，因为没有人照顾我，我就一个人在家，哎因为谁都不认识的缘故，我每天都呆在家里，就算是去街道玩也会迷路，所以，那时我是最无助的时候。后来，我无意中认识了一个小女孩，一起玩特别开心，正在离开家的第三天，我特别想家，毕竟是第一次离开家，而且那么远。

没有人听我说心里话，没有人安慰我，又不想别人看见，自己一个人躲了起来，最后，是她找到我的。安慰我，并且画了一幅画，送给我。我收藏到今天。在那一瞬间，我看到了纸上的高楼，纸上的爸爸妈妈，纸上的我。很简单的一幅画，只有我们懂其中的意思，关心和支持，我被她的真挚感动，在我最无助的时候有她陪着我。

过了大概二十多分钟，揉的面已经全部做成了饺子，我和姐姐烧的水也已经在锅里翻江倒海了。妈妈便把饺子放进锅里，煮了起来。妈妈在中途还加了一些佐料，使饺子更加好吃，约摸过了十多分钟吧，妈妈便把饺子捞起来，分成了四碗，在每碗中还放了一些汤。我妈刚弄好汤，我便抢了一碗津津有味地吃个痛快!由于吃得太快，舌头都火辣辣的。

我们个个都吃得满嘴是油，便欢天喜地去看精彩电视节目了。

啊，真是一个快乐的春节啊!

记得在我上幼儿园的时候，妈妈曾给我买过两只小鸭子。它们浑身长满毛茸茸的黄色羽毛，软软的。远远看去，就像两个小绒球在地上滚来滚去，十分可爱!

我最喜欢的是它们像黑豆一样的小眼睛还有扁扁的小嘴。尤其是小嘴吃东西时，“吧唧、吧唧”的模样十分逗趣!

每天我都会把“明明”和“星星”放到我家露台上的鱼池里，让它们洗澡、嬉戏。鸭子可喜欢玩水了，而且天生就是游泳健将。你别看它个子小，游起泳来速度可快啦!只听“哗啦，哗啦”几声，鸭子就已经在我家的大鱼池里游了好几圈。妈妈还特意买了些小泥鳅养在池里。你一定想不到鸭子有多么聪明，它们把头往水里一埋，把尾巴竖了起来，一潜就是好长时间，在池子里捉小泥鳅呢!特别有意思的是只要“明明”刚咬住小泥鳅，把头仰起来，准备享受美味的时候，“星星”立马就会游过来抢食。这时“明明”不但要对付滑溜溜的泥鳅，还得躲避同伴的抢夺，一时池子里激起了千层浪花，小泥鳅乘机而逃……那场面真是滑稽又搞笑!

“明明”和“星星”陪伴我度过了一段非常快乐的时光。后来我上了小学搬了新家，新家太小再也不适合它们成长，不得已我和妈妈决定把它们放生了……我永远都忘不了那天，忘不了和它们分别时的依依不舍……那是我第一次为我的动物朋友流下了眼泪!

Be Grateful to Our Parents

Since we were born， many people help us a lot. We should be grateful to their kindness. But the ones we should show our greatest appreciation are our parents. From the first day we appear in their lives， they give us all their love and care， but never expect anything in return. progress in each. Progress in science excludes the human factor. Scientists, who

seek to comprehend the universe and know the truth with the highest degree of

accuracy and certainty, cannot pay heed to their own or other peoples likes or

dislikes, or to popular ideas about the fitness of things. What scientists

discover may shock or anger people--as did Darwins theory of evolution. But

even an unpleasant truth is more than likely to be useful; besides, we have the

option of refusing to believe it! But hardly so with technology;we do not have

the option of refusing to hear the sonic boom produced by a supersonic

aircraft-flying overhead; we do not have the option of refusing to breathe

polluted air. Unlike science, progress in technology must be our slave and not

the reverse. The legitimate purpose of technology is to serve peopie--people in

general, not merely some people; and future generations, not merely those who

presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

我们做为一个学生，更要提高意识，争作地球小卫士，以身作则，用行动来保护地球。我们要多植树造林，爱护花草，节约用水，保护身边的小动物。看到有破坏树木，踩踏花草的要及时制止，看到有浪费饮用水的，我们要耐心劝导。看到有到处乱扔垃圾的，我们要加以警告。看到有伤害小动物的，我们要加以教导……

春天来了，院子里的两棵柿子树上常有小鸟在枝头歌唱，清脆悦耳，它们好像以这好听的歌声来赞美春天的到来。 Spring is here. The two persimmons in the yard are often sang on the branches, crispy and pleasant, they seem to praise the spring with this nice singing voice.arrival.

天蒙蒙亮，小鸟已“起床”准备一展嘹亮的歌喉，唯恐人们起床后的热闹淹没它们动听的歌声，这不，当我们还沉浸在美梦中不愿醒来的时候，唧唧啾啾的声音硬是把我们唤醒，好像在催促我们：“懒虫，该起床了，睁开眼睛多欣赏一下这美丽的春天吧!”

窗外风和日丽，窗外鸟声清脆明媚的春光还有那活蹦乱跳的鸟儿吸引我和孩子们起床走进这美好的季节给我们带来的美的享受。

咦，葡萄树枝上有一个“花苞”，孩子惊奇的叫起来。

“那不是花苞，那是将要长出来的嫩叶。”我纠正道。

“嫩叶，它会长嫩叶，”孩子天真的问。

“是啊，它们知道春天来了，所以它们长出嫩绿的叶来欢迎春天的到来。”我随意的回答说。

孩子似乎明白了啥?指着已发出一小堆像花骨朵那样“的玻璃翠”，妈妈，你看，玻璃翠也知道春天来了，它们也喜欢春天对不对，是啊!春天，一个美好的季节，一个万物都喜欢的春天，沉睡一冬的一切都将在这个春天苏醒，它们将加快前进的`步伐快速的使其成长发芽，开花，结果，为这个世界献出自己的微不足道的光和热，植物如此，我们更应该如此。

看哪，那绿的草，青的叶，各色鲜艳的野花，都像赶集似的聚拢来，形成了这光彩夺目的春天。地里的麦苗一改往日的散漫，比赛似的抽出新的麦叶来，在阳光的照耀下泛着扎眼的绿。

田间地头人们栽种的一片一片的油菜，已开满了黄色的花，金灿灿的花招引来许多蜜蜂、蝴蝶它们随风舞动，美丽极了。

一块块金黄色的油菜花点缀在一望无际绿油油的麦田中，加上路边开着的各色鲜艳的野花真的就像一幅活的画，看到此景的人不得不感叹大自然这位神奇的画家。

春天真好，能欣赏到这美景的人更好。

我家有一只小猫，它的名字叫灰巧克力。它长着一身灰色的毛，一双三角形的顺风耳，一对像绿宝石一样的眼睛，一个小巧玲珑的鼻子，加上有力的四肢，这就是活泼机灵的灰巧克力。

我一回家，灰巧克力就坐在椅子上看着我，好像对我说：“小主人，欢迎回家。”我写作业时，灰巧克力总是坐在我旁边，它目不转睛地盯着我的作业本，好像要和我一起解题似的。有时候我做不出来的时候灰克力就喵喵地叫着，好像对我说：“小主人，不用着急，慢慢思考。”然后我心就静下来。每当我吃好晚饭，灰巧克力总是抱住我的大腿，好像对我说：“我要跟你玩哦!”每次看着它那可怜的小眼神，我就忍不住要跟他玩一会。我从柜子里拿出它最喜欢的玩具—小毛球。我把小毛球往远处一扔，它每次都用短跑冠军豹子的速度接到那小毛球，可真厉害呀!每次巧克力玩累了，我都会抓一把猫粮给它吃，它小心翼翼地从我手里叼一个，津津有味地吃了起来。我告诉你，它那么小心翼翼是因为怕伤到我!

我和灰巧克力还有个小故事呢。有一天我在家里喝着牛奶，忽然，想起来忘记整理书包了，我马上放下牛奶去整理。我刚一回头，我的牛奶就不见了。只听见喵喵的叫声，我跟着声音来到了灰巧克力喝水的地方，它正在喝着从牛奶瓶子里流出来的牛奶呢，看着这只可爱的小馋猫，真是哭笑不得。

我喜欢我的小伙伴—灰巧克力。
