It is a winter day. It is cold outside. The snow falls. It covers the

ground. Snow falls for six hours. Finally it stops. He puts on his heavy jacket.

He goes outside. He builds a snowman. It is a fat snowman. It is a tall snowman.

Now I have already told you a story about an old man that thought he knew

everything, and had been asked a hard question to answer by the king’s

professor; and had been crowned king. Well in this story, I am going to tell you

how the old man got back to thinking he knew everything, and was asked another

hard question by the king’s professor.

It all happened that one day, when the professor was feeling sick, the old

man happened to be on the stage. Now he had a throne too, but not as fancy as

the professor’s. And so he decided to sit on it. When other people are standing

in line to ask for questions, the old man said, “The professor has quit, and so

I shall rule this stage and this kingdom!”

All the people gave him a slow clap, and at last began to ask questions.

Two more days passed and the professor got better, and walked to the stage. But

he found that on his throne was the old man. “Ah! Professor!” shouted the old

man in an angry tune, “You quit! I heard you say that a week ago!” “I said that

I was going to quit about two days because I was sick,” explained the professor

smiling.

“I think I should be king rather than you!” shouted the old man, “Fine! I

shall ask you a hard question, if you could answer it; then you ask me one. But

if not, the guards shall make you my breakfast, next month!” “Deal,” said the

professor, still smiling. And so the hard question contest began.

First the old man asked, “What’s the answer of 1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1?” “That’s

easy,” said the professor, and he wrote it on a paper. When he is finished, he

handed the paper over to the old man; it said, “If you want to find the answer,

you said eight 1. All you have to do is use multiplication to find the answer:

8﹡1.” The old man was astonished, “Your right!” he shouted; “Now you ask me

one!” “1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1﹣1﹣1?” “Do you want to know the answer now?”

asked the man, “No,” said the man, “I just want to count how many ones did I

count?”

There was once a little boy, who was my grandpa; lived in a little cottage

near the king’s palace. He was a jolly fellow in his life.

One day, he went down to the brook to pick some flowers. Close to the brook

was a little log, on it was a tinker. Beside him was a tool box, and in it were

some tools. “He must be the one that fixed the pluming machine in my backyard!”

my grandpa gasped as he said that. The tinker was having his lunch: One or two

pieces of bread, a bit of cold meat, and a cold potato. It looked such poor

lunch; that grandpa ran into the house, and grabbed two fresh apples, and gave

it to the tinker. The tinker thanked grandpa and ate the apples. And then he

went down to the brook to have a drink. When he came back, he said, “Now my boy,

we shall plant a tree!” “A tree?” asked grandpa, “But I thought only god makes

trees!’’ “True,” said the tinker, “Only god makes trees. But sometimes we could

help him. And the tinker pulled out a stick, and dug a hole in it. In which he

found a bark. He took the bark out of the stick, and gave the stick to grandpa,

saying, “Here my boy; wash it in the brook.” And so grandpa went to the brook,

and washed up the stick. And then he went back where the tinker was standing

with the bark in his hands.

There he found the tinker, dragging some grass from the ground. And then he

took the stick in grandpa’s hand, and used the grass to tie up around with the

bark. Then he slipped the bark back in the stick. And then he took it out,

squeezed the water out, and told grandpa to wash it up again. When he came back,

he put the bark back in it again. And then fitted it into a hole, which he had

dug; and used the end that didn’t have a hole, and fitted it in the ground; a

few months passed, and the tree grew as strong as the strongest man.

Today, when I walk on the street, I find the street is so beautiful. There

is some lovely pictures on the sidewalk, the picture of giraffe, panda and

monkey. When people see these lovely animals, they feel so good. I think it is

such a nice act to paint these pictures on the street, it makes this city look

beautiful.

As the new semester is coming, I feel so excited. It will be my last year

in primary school, so I cherish every moment with my friends. I have made up my

mind to study hard, so that I can be competitive for the better middle school.

My friends and I have also planned to go camping and we so are so looking

forward to it.

My new teacher is science teacher. He’s very strong. He

has a big mouth, two big ears, two big eyes and a not too big and not too small

nose. He often wears a black new shirt and brown pants, with two big

shoes.

My science teacher is very kind. And he is very smart,

isn’t he? Today, we have science class. We are very happy. Because he is so

funny. Who is he? He’s a Mr. Zhou .
