The Giant Panda has a very distinctive black-and-white coat. Adults measure around 1.5 m long and around 75 cm tall at the shoulder. Males can weigh up to 115 kg (253 pounds). Females are generally smaller than males, and can occasionally weigh up to 100 kg (220 pounds). Giant Pandas live in mountainous regions, such as Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, and Tibet. While the Chinese dragon has been historically a national emblem for China, since the latter half of the 20th century the Giant Panda has also become an informal national emblem for China. Its image appears on a large number of modern Chinese commemorative silver, gold, and platinum coins.

The Giant Panda has an unusual paw, with a "thumb" and five fingers; the "thumb" is actually a modified sesamoid bone, which helps the panda to hold the bamboo while eating. Stephen Jay Gould wrote an essay about this, then used the title The Pandas Thumb for a book of essays concerned with evolution and intelligent design. The Giant Panda has a short tail, approximately 15 cm long. Giant Pandas can usually live to be 20-30 years old while living in captivity.

Until recently, scientists thought giant pandas spent most of their lives alone, with males and females meeting only during the breeding season. Recent studies paint a different picture, in which small groups of pandas share a large territory and sometimes meet outside the breeding season.

Like most subtropical mammals, but unlike most bears, the giant panda does not hibernate.

The Olympic Opening Ceremony was an international event and the whole world was watching! The event was held in a stadium designed to seat a large group of people.

The athletes entered the stadium in a specific order. The athletes from Greece entered first in honor of the original Olympics held in Greece. Then, the other athletes followed by nation in the alphabetical order of the host country’s language. The host country’s athletes came last. So for this coming Olympics 2008, the athletes from China will enter the stadium last.

Planes and ships transported the Olympic torch to each country that lies between Greece and the host country. The most exciting moment of the Olympic ceremony was when the torch entered the stadium and lit the Olympic Flame. The Flame was kept burning until the end of the Olympic games.

A fanfare then sounds; the Olympic flame is extinguished, and while the Olympic anthem is being played, the Olympic flag is slowly lowered from the flagpole and, unfurled horizontally, carried out of the arena, followed by the flag bearers. A farewell song resounds.

寂小光的脚不是一般的大，而是不符合逻辑极为夸张的大，就好像有人给他穿上了一双又宽又厚的脚套。他的鞋子仿佛是两只小船，在地上划来划去。夏天的时候，寂小光都不好意思穿凉鞋，因为脚趾头实在骇人，两个脚趾并在一起就有人家全部五个脚趾那么宽。难怪班上的同学都叫他“唐老鸭”呢。

谁也没有想到寂小光的大脚也有“大展宏图”的时候。

这天是全校学生运动会游泳比赛的日子，男子400米蛙泳即将进行，只见泳池上站了一排各班精选的游泳高手，大家甩胳膊踢腿，做着赛前的热身运动。这时，五(3)班的刘飞突然腿肚子抽筋，不得不遗憾地退出比赛。比赛时间迫在眉睫，哪里找替补队员呢?班主任齐老师急的恨不得自己跳进水里。

寂小光爆了一个大冷门，现学现用，居然夺得了第一名!全场观众都被惊呆了，掌声经久不息。

第二名，那个赛前呼声最高的选手要求检查寂小光的脚是不是真的，他怀疑寂小光穿着脚蹼比赛。经现场的裁判仔细检查反复测试后，一致认定寂小光的脚是货真价实的肉脚掌，绝无作弊的可能。

第三梯队、第四纵队、第五敢死队……纷至沓来。

寂小光的生活完全乱套了，每天都要在课堂上被叫出来陪着校长接见各种各样有头有脸的来访者，不时地还要被各大科研机构拿着各种新式仪器进行检查，上下学的路上再也不能和同学们一起快快乐乐地走了，体委的教练跟在后面注意观察他的每一步跑动，每一次跳跃。

尽管寂小光一再申明自己不想搞体育，不想拍电视广告，不想为大脚上保险，不想为某鞋厂做形象代言人，但是还是有那么多的不死心的来访者不断地打搅他平静的学习。

“爸爸，我该怎么办?”寂小光问爸爸，“我再也不能安心读书了。为什么他们对一双大一点的脚都这么好奇呢?”

“你死去的妈妈是非常善良的地球人。我对不起她，没让她过上好日子。我被陷害后失去了神奇的控球能力，在踢的最后一场世界杯决赛中失球了，被愤怒的球迷暴打，是你的妈妈在危急关头救了我，而她却挨了重重的一击，永远离开了我。那时你才几个月大。”

寂小光泪流满面，他才知道自己曾经认为“窝囊”的父亲是多么地不容易。

“你虽然出生在地球，却遗传了大脚星人的特点。我不想你重蹈爸爸的覆辙，所以才告诫你不要轻易使用超能力。”

“爸爸，我错了。我们……要离开这里了吗?”

“是的，我已经帮你办了转学手续。明天我们会到另一个地方开始新的生活。”

我们在回来的路上，在聊米粉是咋做出来的，我们聊了一路，嘴巴都没有停下来过，我们就一直说一直说，说到了她家里才停下来的。回到了房子里，她就第一个冲到了电脑桌面前，开始跟我打游戏，我们在打的时候，她就一直在我的耳边讲着这该怎么怎么打，就没有停下来过。

我们就这样又说又闹度过了一天，我们非常的开心，大家猜到她是谁了吗?她就是我们班的小班长—小桃子(陶倩倩)。

Besides, she has a pretty name, Flor Alba Rocha Vorgas. Flor is the short form of flower in her native language, and Alba means sunrise while Rocha Vorgas is a combination of her father’s and mother’s family name. Meanwhile, Flor speaks Spanish as her native language and she is capable of speaking French and English as well. Coming from Bogota, the capital of Colombia, she regards Monserrate, located on the peak of a small mountain, as her favorite part about her home city. According to what she describes, the mountain where Monserrate is situated lies on the east of Bogota, and it takes you approximately an hour to climb from the foot to the top while just around fifteen minutes to get there by cableway. Moreover, there is no denying the fact that you are bond to fulfill your eyesight with the amazing overlook of the whole city as long as you stand there.

When it comes to her own experience, she takes pride in graduating from one of the best law schools in Colombia. I am sure that Flor has been an assiduous and sagacious student in her school, because she is so outstanding that starts to work as a lawyer just three months after graduation, doing some research for the government on the Internet. Currently, she is studying English in New York, renting house from a Colombian family in East Elmhurst with her roommate. As a result of being an only child in her traditional family, Flor has been cherished as the most valuable treasure in the solar system all the time, which somewhat limits her independence. Thus, she is dying for the opportunity to live alone, and, in fact, she has succeeded in proving herself nowadays as she is able to pay for herself via becoming a part-time seller. With the aim of managing the Master Degree in US after accomplishing learning language, she also has a great number of further plans for the future, such as returning to Colombia and teaching in a law school. Ridiculously, however, becoming a pianist and a ballet dancer was once her childhood ambition, but it never comes true.

Furthermore, Flor possesses a large variety of interests, among which watching movies may be the most attractive event to her. With an affinity for films like dramas, documental ones and European ones, she even sets a record of seeing a movie every other day! As far as she is concerned, her grandmother is the hero in her heart due to her strong mind. What’s more, the fondest memory in her perspective is the happy life with her grandmother. I always dream about returning to the past. As many people say, childhood

is the happiest and easiest time in one’s life. Children show you their true

emotions.

understand what is animosity.

They enjoy making friends but they never think about making social

communication net. Every child talks from the bottom of his heart without evil

plans hidden and never intrigues against each other.

Only in children’s way can adults make our life simple, more real and more

I wish everyone’s heart would keep as innocent and lovely as they ever did

When I went to school two years ago, I felt so nervous, at that time, it was the first time for me to go to school, before, I never left my parents.

The Advantages of Travel Alone

I like to travel to different places, I can see the beautiful scenery and get to know the different cultures. My friends and I always travel together, we make many plans in advance. But the plans will always be interrupted by all kinds of unexpected incidents, like the bad weather, the holiday being cancelled, so we have to spend another time to wait for the trip. Traveling alone can ignore these problems, I can go to travel whenever I want, I just need to pick up my backpack, and then buy the ticket. It is so free, I don’t have to wait for others, I can go to the places I want to. Traveling alone is good.

Before I was 10, I lived in my hometown, it was a small and beautiful village, I love my hometown so much.

谢老师的个子不算高也不算矮，圆圆的脸上有着一双炯炯有神的眼睛，高鼻梁，小嘴巴。她的头发乌黑光亮，像瀑布一样从高空倾泻下来。脸上总是挂着亲切的笑容。

谢老师非常关心同学们。记得有一次，我们班的一位同学不小心摔倒在地，腿上鲜血直流，让人不寒而栗。谢老师闻声赶来，她先把那位受伤的同学扶到自己家里，拿出医药包，用酒精为伤口消毒，再涂抹上药粉，用绷带包好伤口，亲切地询问那位同学痛不痛，并问他：“还能不能走?不能走的话，老师背你去医院，好吗?”说完，谢老师就背起那位同学，向医院走去。

谢老师也很宽容。有一次上课的时候，我们班的“调皮大王”又开始搞恶作剧了，被“调皮大王”整到的那位同学忍不住举手向谢老师报告。老师走过来，问“调皮大王”为什么要整同学，“调皮大王”不敢说话，低着头，生怕老师会打骂他，谢老师看穿了他的心思，便对他说：“一次可以原谅，但不能再犯下一次。”“调皮大王”抬起了头，感激的望了望老师，老师对他和蔼的笑了笑，便继续上课了。从此，“调皮大王”几乎没有搞恶作剧了，大家对老师也更加敬佩了。

谢老师的课堂妙趣横生。上课的时候，老师总能在我们困惑不解的时候，巧妙地一点一拔，我们一下子就明明白白，豁然开朗了，像拨开云雾见到了青天。老师还会适当地用一些幽默的词语和句子，让我们大笑不止，但也让我们明白了许多的知识，让我们获益匪浅。

谢老师还很平易近人。下课的时候，老师和我们一起玩耍，一起讨论学习、生活中的乐趣。一起打羽毛球、乒乓球等等，我们越来越喜欢这位老师，越来越对学习有了兴趣……

俗话说：一日为师，终生为父。在这里，我想忠心地对老师说：“老师，您辛苦了，祝您青春永驻，快快乐乐!老师，您的教诲之恩，我终身难忘!”

It was raining when Tom was on his way home. He opened his umbrella and

walked faster. Suddenly he saw an old woman staggering forward with a stick in

her hand. She hadnt got an umbrella with her and was wet all over. Tom went up

to her and tried to share his umbrella with her. But the old woman was tall and

he was too short to hold it high enough. Then he saw the old womans stick and a

good idea came to him. He tried hard to tie the stick to the handle of the

umbrella. Then the umbrella was long enough for both of them. The old woman

thanked him again and again. Then they went on walking home.

My father is a teacher, he looks fat, but also wearing a pair of glasses, the rationale of a flat head, not tall.

Dad likes to swim, run, play table tennis, read books, travel.

My dad asked me very strict, he often taught me to be polite.
