Dear Mary,

Thanks for your last letter. Im so glad that you have been able (at last! ) to arrange a holiday in Australia. As I fear I wont be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive, nor will I be able to be home until later in the afternoon, so here are some instructions and suggestions. There is a bus from the airport to the city. It is much cheaper than a cab. Take the bus to the city and ask to get off at Town Hall railway station. To get to my place in the eastern suburbs you have three options. You can either take a cab, a bus or the train. I suggest you take the train, since the airport bus will leave you right at the station. Get off at Cliff Station. From there you can either walk to my place (about ten minutes) or take a taxi. Probably you should take a taxi as you will have luggage.

When you arrive at my flat, ring the intercom for Flat 2. My friend Lillian will be at home and she will open the front door for you and let you into my flat. Presumably you will be tired and want to sleep. But if you feel like some exercise after that long flight, you could stroll down to Cooper Park, which is only ten minutes away ? you can see it from the window. 还记得大唐时代的玄奘，那时只有烽火狼烟，锦书雁帛，交通不便，但他乘危远迈，策杖孤征，穿越一百二十多个国家，心怀“宁可西行求生，绝不东还求生”的信念，最终达到印度，取经返回大唐。从此，让更多人在佛经中虔诚地洗涤尽自我的灵魂。玄奘没有生于这个科技发达的年代，但他凭借心中的信念，到达了心中的圣地。因此，环境的约束并不重要，我们所要做的就是适应时代，尽自己所能为脚下的土地植树种花，涵养灵魂的源泉。

所以面对生活节奏快的今天，我们要在日常工作后为自己冲一杯净心之茶，世间本无事，庸人自扰之;面对道德缺失，人情冷漠的现状，更要坚守内心本真，尽自己所能为世界点亮一丝光。

而孔子呢？恰恰相反，明明知道自己“克己复礼”的主张不会被人采纳，却还要带着一群弟子边行边乞，周游列国，苦口婆心地去游说各国诸侯，让他们停止争战，要为民施仁术。一个崇尚自然，一个热衷政治，可他们都是人们2000多年来不可忘怀的名人，你说，这是为什么？其实，不用多想就有了答案：人各有志。当一个人有了自己的志向追求的时候，他就会投入全部的情感，甚至独钟于此。

这就是杜甫，他心中只有国家与人民，所以无论他自己在怎样的生活环境，他都在忧国忧民。看看这些古代名人，他们因为自己人生有志，便一生为之倾情。那么，对于现实生活中的那些沉迷于某事物者，我们就不要把他们想象成异类了，无论是“香港大学之宝”的袁苏妹钟情于做一位杂工，还是肢残也不离开讲台的赵世术，前者不以自己的工作为卑，反为做饭扫地投入了真情，后者不认为自己行动不便，只因为他对孩子们情有独钟。

既然钟情于物的人就会留名青史，而袁苏妹与赵世术理当被人们称道歌颂。如果我们也希望自己在世上能留下点什么，那么，选好对象，钟情于它吧。

“一生为墨客，几世做茶仙”陆羽于竹林深处独饮清茗一杯，留《茶经》于后世，何其闲适;东坡于千古琴音中“散不平之气，洗不和之心”，在琴音的情怀，记《水调歌头》于词，何其享受;“古来圣贤皆寂寞，惟有饮者留其名”，在这纷扰红尘中，李白不理俗事，寄千古风流于诗，何其潇洒。

而如今，这样的闲适，享受，潇洒在现在的社会中还存在吗?今清茶被可乐代替，美酒只成为交际应酬的陪衬，琴声中再无寄托与襟怀，忙碌的人群在急躁的海洋中沉沉浮浮，平静已成为奢侈品，我不禁想问：中国人还有闲情逸致了吗?

功名，利禄驱使着人们在这纷扰的社会中奔走，想要利用更短的时间去获得最大的利益。所以，再没有人愿意将时间分出来做“无用之事”，便就再没有了闲情逸致。于是，在人们争分夺秒的急躁中我们看到了这些：一座座“豆腐渣”工程拔地而起，经不起考验而坍塌;各种各样的快餐，速食品牌纷纷而起，在人群中留下健康的隐患;各种各样的疾病纷纷出现，将一条条鲜活的生命带走。在急躁中，我们得到了什么?其实，我们什么都没有得到。

其实，真正的艺术与成功往往在闲情逸致的平静与宽舒中诞生。年近七十的黄公望用了三四年的时间为道友无用师画了一幅画，这幅画就是著名的《富春山居图》。这件在当时为名利奔波的人们看来无用的事，却成就了传世的名作。曹雪芹披阅十载，用一颗平静的心叙写着封建社会的百志，这个在当时人们认为“从富家子弟到贫困书生”的悲哀，却用宽舒与平静作出《红楼梦》这部巨作。陶渊明一生困顿，却安贫乐道，在无尽的闲情中写下了著名的《归去来兮辞》。可见，闲情逸致的宽舒并非真的无用。

如今，中国人失去闲情逸致了吗?我想是的。我们这个曾被“最闲适的民族”已渐渐在这浮躁的浪潮中失去了本来的色彩。再无平静，再无宽舒，仅余迫促与急躁，这是我们多大的悲哀!功名，利禄不过是我们人生中一个可无可有的附属品，实在没有必要为了这些浪掷了我们本就短暂的一生，放下急躁，为自己的心留下份平静与宽舒，或许你无法取得真正的艺术与成功，但至少你的人生可以有那么一段宽舒的时光，让我们来到这世间多一份无悔与从容。
