but still the auctioneer continued, "the son! the son! who will take the son?" finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. it was the longtime

gardener of the man and his son. "ill give you $10 for the painting." being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

但拍卖经纪人依旧继续着：“儿子，儿子，谁要这儿子?”终于，一个声音从厅堂的深处传来：“我出十块钱要这画。”因为穷，这是他力所能及的价钱。

"we have $10, who will bid $20??"

"give it to him for $10. lets see the masters".

"$10 is the bid, wont someone bid $20?"

“有人标了十块，有谁肯标二十的吗?”

“十块给他吧，让我们看名作。

“标价十块，没有人标二十的吗?”

the crowd was becoming angry. they didnt want the picture of the son. they wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

the auctioneer pounded his gavel. "going once, twice, sold for $10!"

a man sitting in the second row shouted, "now lets get on with the collection!

the auctioneer laid down his gavel "im sorry, the auction is over".

"what about the paintings?"

人群开始愤怒起来。他们不想要这儿子的画。他们要收藏的是更值得投资的东西。

拍卖经纪人敲打着槌子：“一次竞标，两次竞标，十块得标!”

一位坐在第二排的人喊道：“现在让我们开始进入收藏品的竞标。”

I like spring festival because we are very happy on that day.Last festival we had a good time and I will never forget it.In the morning all my family were busy preparing for it.I helped to clean the house and my parents were cooking some delicious food.On that afternoon we had a big dinner.At night we made jiaozi and set off fireworks to celebrate the festival.In the meanwhile we watched TV.My parents gave me much lucky money.The next morning we said happy new year to everybody from door to door.

To eat dinner, is the most lively happy Spring Festival every family. Eve. Abundant wasnt filled with a table, the whole family reunion, sitting at the table, the reunion dinner with my heart happiness is difficult to define. Both enjoy a full table delicacies sumptuous dinner, and enjoy the joy of the atmosphere. The table have a meal, cold pot, hyped, snack, generally without two things, one is the hot pot. The second is the fish. Hot pot boiling, steaming, warm and seductive, thriving; "Fish" and "yu" homophonic, is the symbol of "happy enough to spare", yu also "more than" year after year. 古代，过年喝酒，非常注意酒的品质，有些酒现在已经没有了，只留下许多动人的酒名，如“葡萄醅”，“兰尾酒”，“宜春酒”，“梅花酒”，“桃花酒”，“屠苏酒”等等。在这些酒中间，流传最久，最普遍的，还是屠苏酒。但是屠苏酒的名称是如何来的又是用什么制作的从来传说不一。

我相信每年的趣事都源源不断地来。

Spring Festival is the most important holiday for Chinese people. Excitement and happiness are palpable this time of the year， and they reach the peak on lunar new year‘s eve.

Though the 15-day period， which starts with the first day of the lunar new year and ends on the 15th day (known as Lantern Festival)， is relatively long， it is the busiest time of the year for Chinese people. The arrangements they have to make for family reunions， buying necessities and preparing food keeps them busy throughout the holiday. Many of them travel back home and meet friends over dinner and drinks. The celebrations include decorating the house and setting off fireworks.

But we are talking about a tradition that seems to be fading.Spring Festival， as it is celebrated today， has undergone many changes， thanks to the country‘s economic development and globalization.

Yet no Spring Festival is complete without food. People could not get good food whenever they desired in earlier times， something that does not apply to society today. More often than not， people faced the risk of famine. The best time for people to celebrate was when food was available in plenty， and that was possible in spring， or the beginning of the lunar new year. That was the main reason why Spring Festival acquired such great importance among Chinese people.

But three decades of economic growth has ensured that people in China， except for those who are still poor， can enjoy a good meal whenever they want. Such has been the change in people‘s fortune that some have to be treated for obesity and other health problems associated with excessive eating.

In the past， celebrations were limited to events like song-and-dance duets in North China， dragon/lion dances in South China and fireworks， which required the joint efforts of the entire community. But economic development and urbanization seems to have weakened the social links among people. Many， especially those living in cities， are not interested in celebrating the festival with people they hardly know.

Many customs associated with Spring Festival have changed， too. In the past， people used to visit relatives and friends with gifts and lots of good wishes. Today， many people， especially the youth， use their cell phones or the Internet to send their good wishes and even "gifts" to their relatives and friends. Some may say this a sign that people have become less caring about their near and dear ones， but we should see this development as a time- and energy-saving exercise granted by the information age.

In recent times， many people have started praying for a career promotion or more money instead of invoking God or the Buddha for a healthy and long life and the welfare of their family. But the number of such people is decreasing now， which shows that people are becoming more reasonable.

My  plan  of  next  year

A new year ，a new start，when I stand on the edge of  a new year，I cant help thinking about my plan of next year.

Just as the old saying：“Well began is the half of the success.”So I decide that I should be at work while the others are still relaxing ，and then ，at the beginning ，Im quicker than the others and of course I will get better result than the others.

But ，what I really decide to do is that I must make good of anytime I can spare though it seems impossible.While，I will do my best to live up with what I have planned，and the result will prove it.

我的家乡在巫溪，在这里，不仅有五花八门的风土人情，就连过春节，也别具一格。

春节的前几天，是大家最忙的时候。不同于其它地方，我们在过小年的时候，是要做豆腐的，因为这一天是“灶王菩萨”上天的日子，我们要供他。在这里，人们在春节前几天都跑到集市上去买腊肉，回到家里第一件事就是赶快跑到楼顶，用松树枝燃起一堆篝火，等到冒出滚滚的黑烟，就开始熏腊肉以及香肠。人们的脸都被熏得黑不溜秋，与白白的牙齿成了鲜明的对比，活像一个“非洲人”。但是大家望着香飘飘的腊肉和香肠，露出了开心的笑容。采购年货是必不可少的，那时，超市里挤得水泄不通。孩子们也忙得不亦乐乎，一天中起码有一半的时间是做作业，好在过年玩个痛快。大人孩子都在为过年做准备。外出务工的不论多忙也都会赶回来。

大年三十，年轻人都会带着孩子齐聚在长辈家，整个一大家人都会坐在一张团圆桌上，说着满口的家乡话，互相拜年，为精彩的春晚叫好。到了12点可是孩子们的天下。孩子们会找个十分宽敞的空地，摆上一排排“擦炮”，点燃，都捂着耳朵。在“噼里啪啦”声中合着孩子们的欢笑。大年初一，无论男女老少，一家都会“全体出动”，去串门，走亲戚。晚辈都要给长辈磕头，长辈不论贫富，都会从牙缝里抠出如数的压岁钱给晚辈。当然，压岁钱都会被父亲母亲收着。其他地方都是清明节去扫墓，但是我们这里可都是在大年初三左右的时间爬上山去祭祖先。

最有趣的要数过年时的语言，比如什么“死”、“背时鬼”这些不吉利的话都要抛之脑后，不准说出口。不论问你什么，你都要回答“有”。在过年时，筷子都要齐刷刷地喊成“发世子”或“响水桥”……等等，总之，在我们家乡，过年时都尽量说些吉利的话。出于谦虚，在拜年时如果别人说“过年好”，那一般的回答是“年在你们这里呢。”

我的家乡是个不同的地方，有时间都来玩玩呀。

There are a lot of valid, rich and colorful legends about the origin of the Lunar New Year. They can be traced to thousands of years ago, among which the most famous one is the legend of Monster Nian. Monster Nian was a cruel wild animal. Ancient people believed that Monster Nian would come out to eat people on New Year’s Eve. It was said that Monster Nian was afraid of red, fire and noise. In order to repel it, people would put the red notes on doors and keep the torch alight all night as well as set off firecrackers. Early next morning, people greeted each other. The air was filled with the victory and the rebirth joy.

农历新年的来源，有根据。丰富而多彩的传说，可追溯到几千年前。其中，最有名的就是“年兽”的传说。“年兽”是一只残忍凶猛的野兽，古代人相信“年兽”在除夕夜时会出来吃人。传说“年兽”极惧怕红色、火光及吵杂的声音，于是人们就在门上贴著红纸条，并整夜点著火炬、燃放炮烛，来避开“年兽”。到了第二天一大早，“恭喜”之声不绝于耳，空气中弥漫著打败“年兽”胜利与重生的喜悦。
