The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually

in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

month, so he ordered to light lanterns in the imperial palace and temples to

show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a

grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central

Plains to the whole of China.

Till today, the lantern festival is still held each year around the

country. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung in the streets,

attracting countless visitors. Children will hold self-made or bought lanterns

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.

The time of middle school is short and precious, but for some students,

校园里，到处都是春的气息。水泥大道旁，两排香樟树相对而立，香樟树的叶子很香，人没到校，香味就扑鼻而来，老师说这是因为香樟树叶上香腺的因素，只要摘一片放在手上搓一搓，便会沾得满手香气，这些香味淡淡的，让人百闻不厌。大道右边是操场，操场的周围是松树，你挨着我，我挨着你，它们四季常青，给人予朝气勃勃，挺拔向上的境界，走在椭圆形的跑道上，看着那青松，常涌现出生命不息、奋斗不至的激情，这正是我校团结、勤奋、向上的教学灵魂的体现。

更迷人的是我校的小花园，慢步在鹅卵石铺成的小路上，第一眼就能看到的是园中的小土坡。小土坡上到处都是草，那些小草又嫩又绿，中间有点黄，然后向外渐变，越来越绿，小草柔柔的，风一吹就泛起微微的波浪;那些高大的树——几棵白玉兰。

在椭圆形的碧绿的树叶的映衬下，粉白的花像小钟一样显露在小枝顶部，是那样的骄傲而美丽;西北边那枫树，成千上万片叶子就像那一双双纤细的小手;那桃树，树态优美，枝干扶疏，花朵丰腴，是那样的温柔而艳丽。不时有小鸟在树上歌唱，多彩的蝴蝶围绕着桃花翩翩起舞，她们是那样的欢欣鼓舞，一同歌唱着我们美丽的校园，歌唱着我们欢乐的童年。

从高处往下看，那红、黄、绿三座大蘑菇灯，是那么的新颖而别致。大楼、假山、土坡、花草树木倒映在清澈的池水里，变成了一幅完美的山水画;水池里的小金鱼，见到你后，就像捉迷藏似的，若隐若现，围着那大假山嬉游，游活了那山水画，更让人惊叹大自然的协调与完美。那石雕的宝塔，耸立在假山上，远远望去，像一个老人用那慈祥的心，时刻注视着小朋友的进步与成长。

水池旁那片竹林，竹叶又绿又翠，又嫩又亮，又尖又长。竹林里两只可爱的熊猫，像一对母子，宝宝在津津有味地吃竹子，妈妈则说：“孩子，慢一点，别咽着了。”

只要你来学校走一走，看一看，那透出的劲儿啊，真美!

Since I come to college, I feel so excited about the new life. Before I go

to college, I have pictured the wonderful life here, but now I find I have many

problems and the campus life is not as wonderful as I think. I need to adjust my

lifestyle.

In high school, in order to inspire students to study hard, teachers always

picture the amazing life in college, so most students treat college as the

paradise. But when they start the new life, they find the difference between

dream and reality. For me, I think I could play most of the time, joining

parties and making a lot of friends. However, study occupies most of my time. I

have so many lessons to learn. Sometimes I even have class at night. This makes

me feel unexpected.

But the time to study is not the only annoyance for me. I feel so

frustrated when I lag behind other classmates. In the college, I meet classmates

from different cities, and some of them have the talents in paining and dance,

some studied very well. So I felt small and faced pressure. Now I learn that I

should learn from them and dont treat them as competitors. Enjoying study comes

first.

生活中很多事情都可以让生活美好，就比如爱，爱就可以让生活变得更美好。

爱是什么?爱是最美的音符，演奏出华丽的乐章。爱是一盏明灯，在黑暗中点亮前行的方向。爱是春天的雨;夏日的风;秋天的果;冬日的阳光，爱让生活更美好，爱无处不在。

母爱是细致入微的，像水一样细腻。母爱也像一本厚重的书，一本需要我们细细品读才懂的书。慈母手中线，游子身上衣，临行密密缝，意恐迟迟归，谁言寸草心，报得三春晖这首诗说的对极了。尽管有时妈妈生气了，扬言不再管我，也还是会照顾我，这就是伟大的母爱。

友情是相互的，像一个物体一样永远也不能分离的。即使和朋友吵架他也不会和你分开，再有困难也会帮助你的。巴金先生曾经说过：友情是生命中的一盏明灯，离开他生命就没了光彩，离开他生命就不会开花结果。

爱是人间最美好，最神圣的，最纯洁的感情，让我们去珍惜、去呵护这份感情，让爱使生活更美好!

Be Grateful to Our Parents

Since we were born， many people help us a lot. We should be grateful to their kindness. But the ones we should show our greatest appreciation are our parents. From the first day we appear in their lives， they give us all their love and care， but never expect anything in return. As long as they are there， we do not feel any difficulties， because they are always in front of our shelter， preventing us from difficulties and danger. In order to make our lives better， learn better， they do everything they can to create the best conditions for us， but ignore their own needs. Therefore， we need to cherish parents’ love and repay their upbringing. We should treat them as they treat us.

冬日下午的阳光，总是如此慵懒无力。即使这样，仍少不了村里人在它的笼罩下取暖闲谈。奶奶也是其中的一员，我陪着她，也享受着午后的悠闲。

“妮子，吃饼吧?”奶奶将她手中的饼伸到了我面前。一根银丝连之后她干涸的嘴唇和饼上的断痕，又随着距离的拉长而消失。

“我不吃……哦，不是，是……是因为我不饿，真的，真的不饿。”我摆出信誓旦旦的模样，似乎连我自我都深信不疑。“啊?你刚才不说有点饿嘛?说你没吃饱!”“啊?哦……我此刻饿过头了，就不饿了。”我的脸在发热，不明白是不是已经变红了。

“她是嫌你脏!”不知谁的一句话顿时掀开了我的秘密。我不明白自我是什么表情，只是望着奶奶!她充满疑惑的脸顿时变为尴尬，脑门上的皱纹由紧而松，眼睛里没有神情，嘴巴依旧张着，只是不再闭合。阳光照着她银色的头发刺着我的双眼，我垂下两眼，不知何去何从。大概过了有一个世纪那么长，她端起她的椅子走了，看着她吃力的背影，我心中涌出了一股酸涩。

这以后，日子还是照常，奶奶对我依旧很好，只是不再主动给我东西吃。我心里总觉得少了些什么。之后我明白了，我缺少理解关爱的潜力。老人的心是脆弱的，如同她们疲惫的身体，但她们依然是热情的，总想将自我剩余的时光全部化作爱将晚辈包围，而爱的给予方式就是与你分享。我还清楚地记得小时候喝水的时候，一碗水总是奶奶先喝，我再喝。她总是说，热水太烫，我把热的喝掉，你再喝温的。其实，她留下的不是什么温水，而是爱，温润的爱。

之后，等我明白分享的好处时，时光已不给我弥补的机会了，它带走我的遗憾，牵着奶奶的手，匆匆走了!此刻，我将早已知晓的分享不断复制，载上我的爱，飞入亲人的心田。“妈，这种口味的月饼真好吃，您吃吃看!”圆圆的月饼，在两张挂着弧度的嘴边徘徊着，最后消失。

生活当中离不开安全，没有了安全就等于没有了生命，生命比任何宝贵，值钱的东西更宝贵，生命只有一次。我在网上查到一个小女孩去医院看望生病住院的爸爸，在经过十字路口时不幸被一辆对红绿灯熟视无睹的汽车撞倒，而司机却把这个可怜的小女孩抱到一处空地上便马上逃之夭夭了，事后司机虽活捉了，但小女孩双脚因没即时治而断了。

每当我看见红绿灯时，我就提醒自己千万千万在任何地方都不能闯红灯，以免发生交通事故，要红灯停绿灯行才能永远地安全。

不光指红绿灯，在其它的交通行驶时也要小心，如超速、超载、没有行车证等等。
