The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually

in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.

我们进了游泳馆，教练先让我们做了热身运动，然后让我们下水练憋气，学员们一个个离开水举起“白旗”投降，只有我和姐姐仍然坚持着，热身结束之后，开始了正式课堂。当教练告诉我们今天学的是自由泳的时候，我顿时像泄了气的皮球，刚才的热情荡然无存。

这可是我的“致命弱点”，想想都觉得底气不足。首先教练先让我上岸，练习一下水上姿势，我一次又一次机械地重复着动作，却怎么也得不到要领，总觉得笨拙好笑，动作也很僵硬。正当我苦恼不已的时候，教练走过来，拍着我的肩膀，亲切地说：“两只手先动的是右手，把自己右手放在前面的时候，左手要放到自己的胸右部。

这样的动作做三次后呼吸一下，呼吸的时候左手在前面时，头往右边呼吸，右手在前面的时候，头往左边呼吸。”照着教练说的技巧，练习了好多次，果然顺畅多了，慢慢地我就熟能生巧了，顿时信心大增，跃跃欲试。下了水之后，更是得心应手，姿势也流畅漂亮，教练看了之后欣慰地笑了，赞不绝口，一边朝我竖起大拇指，一边连声说：“孺子可教也。”

学习游泳不仅让我获得了一项新技能，而且还让我懂得了只要我们用心勇敢地去做一件事，就一定会有收获，不必畏惧，敢于挑战自己，就一定会成功!

耶!我朝思暮想的暑假终于到来了，妈妈有答应我，只要期末考考好，就带我出游玩五天，还好我很努力把她设定的目标达成，那我就可以去南投清境、日月潭玩，好棒喔!

当天万里无云，是个旅游的好日子，我带着愉快又期待的心情出发，准备好好畅游个五日。我们先到日月潭坐缆车从上往下看，四周山明水秀好美呀!接着到了九族文化村，当时正以“航海王”卡通当主题展出，看到我最喜欢的“桥巴”人像，我便趁机跟它照了很多照片。我还玩了音乐马车、热气球、单轨火车、加勒比海探险、侏罗纪探险…等游乐项目。我印象最深刻的是音乐马车，因为它在旋转时候我觉得好刺激!

第二天，我们去了期待已久的纸教堂，它的建筑都是纸做的，真的太神奇了!接着去造纸龙工厂，看到了一棵树如何做成一张张纸的过程。塬来纸不止是可以用来擦，也可以用来做成玩具、椅子、做画…等，这让我大开眼界，也吸收了不少新的知识，太棒了!最后，我们去了一间很有特色名为“老英格兰饭店”。从这里往外看，山景尽收眼底，感觉美轮美奂，它的建筑让我感觉好像置身欧洲童话故事里的城堡，真是太美!

这五天的行程中，有青山、绿水、好友相伴，并与大地为伍，天地为床，真令人难忘，也让我知道行万里路胜过读万卷书的道理。

太阳高照的一天，我和方嘉元一家去游玩。

一路上我们有说有笑，不知不觉，我们就到了深圳市里。首先，我们到深圳科技馆里参观，科技馆里面有“隐身房”……,其中，我最喜欢的是“隐身房”。它是怎么玩的呢?规则是：先走到“隐身房”后面的大洞里，外面就可以看到你的头，看不到你的身子。在科技馆里，我们观看了许多平时看不到的东西，学到了很多知识和了解了很多关于科学的知识。

从科技馆出来，我们大家都肚子饿了。然后，我们俩个小孩都说要去吃韩国大餐，里面有寿司……,我们吃了寿司和咖哩饭,我就最喜欢吃这两样。

吃完饭，我们又起程直奔世界之窗，我在方嘉元爸爸的车上睡着了，听到大人们在喊起来了，去世界之窗了，我和方嘉元同时以最快的速度跳下车。我们进了世界之窗里面，有玩滑雪、冰雪世界，我们选了去冰雪世界，首先要穿上棉袄和保温鞋，进去里面，好冷啊!我们俩坐着轮胎滑雪的游戏，当我还没开始滑的时候，后面有一们佰生人对我说：“我来推你吧!”我说：“好啊!”我高兴地说，我滑到下面了，真好玩!

结束了今天的行程，我们怀着愉快的心情回家了。

寒假就要结束了，在这28天的寒假里，我收获了很多，也过的很快乐，就在那天大年三十，家家都买齐了烟花 爆竹，准备好了年夜饭，等着过新年。

这一天到临了，我早早的起了床，和舅舅弟弟舅妈去买好了鞭炮，我很兴奋，到了买鞭炮的店里，我们精心挑选了很多鞭炮，和一些小的，店主说给你们打个折吧，那些小鞭炮的钱就免了，我们买了四个大的，没想到居然花了2000多元，这令我震惊了。

回到家，吃完中饭，外婆就开始准备年夜饭了，眼看外婆从街上买了许许多多的吃的，有鱼有虾有蔬菜，还有油炸食品，看样子就口水直流。恨不得早点把这些吃的秒速干完。

吃年夜饭的时间到了，可是外公还没有回来，可能是因为有事吧。我们就等了外公十来分钟，可是他还没有回来，我就等不及了，急忙吃了起来，嗯…不错不错。尝尝这鱼，尝尝这肉，尝尝这虾的。外公终于回来了，我们在位置上坐了下来，打开饮料马上吃了起来。大家都吃的津津有味，吃完年夜饭，就到了最有兴趣的时间了，“放鞭炮”。

舅舅把鞭炮搬到了家门口，用打火机点燃导线。兹兹兹……只听见导线燃烧的声音，过了一会儿。“砰”的一声只见烟花窜上天空，“啪”一声巨响，接着发出了几百声这样的声响。我们看着烟花，心里乐嘻嘻的。之后到了7：30时我们看了春节联欢会，还一边在手机里抢着红包。

这回寒假的春节我们过的很快乐，希望下次寒假也能像这回这么快乐。

parties to celebrate Christmas Day. On that day, families get together, having

dinner, eating turkey and sharing happiness. This is a good chance for people to

get reunion, this is the most important day for western people, just like

Chinese New Year.

Some people know how hard, some people know how to honor, some people know how to respect, know how to cherish. I know a different kind of friendship - thanksgiving. When I was toddler, my parents were leaning on the side; when my life was rugged. 腊月二十八，妈妈接到居委会的通知，要我们春节期间看望扶贫结对的孤寡老人。这不，除夕一大早我就迫不及待地和妈妈赶到了居委会。

到了居委会，我们在一位工作人员的帮助下，得到了我们所帮助的孤寡老人的家庭住址。紧接着，我们就开始往目的地出发了。

一路上，我们冒着严寒，顶着大风，不时还向路人问一问路。

我们走到一个不起眼的小路上，一直向前走去，走了好一段路，我们才走到了一条阴凉的巷子。当我们赶到老人家时，看见这户人家的房子显得很简陋，一个木门，一个灶头;一些必须的日用品，就组成了家。我一进去，就闻到一股臭气。我很奇怪，心想：这户人家打扫得挺干净，怎么会那么臭呢?我带着疑惑走进了里屋。

走进里屋，我发现有一位80多岁的老奶奶正在睡觉，嘴里还不时说着梦话。我有些不解，为什么老奶奶大白天还睡觉?

给我们带路的大妈似乎看出了我的心思，便对我说：“她呀，今年85岁了，六年前得了老年痴呆症，开始两年还可以走动走动，但之后脑子不好使了，摔了一跤，随后吃喝拉撒就全在床上了。虽然有两个儿子，可是小儿子是残疾人，指望不上。想指望大儿子吧，可是大儿子却没有良心，一年到头都不来看望老娘，她是彻底成了孤寡老人了。这不，平时就靠邻居和社会上的好心人的帮助，要不，早就不在人世了……”大妈说着，不由得流下了眼泪。而我听了这些话，心里也觉得酸酸的。

我们把带来的礼物放在桌上，在老人的枕头下放了100元钱，默默地为她祈祷祝福。老人感激地看着我们，脸上一道道深深的皱纹笑成了一朵花，看得出她心中有说不出的激动。随后，我和妈妈又帮着打扫了一下房间，整理了一下床铺。陪同的大妈看着我们的行动，不住地称赞表扬，还给我们拍了几张照片。

最后，我们要走了，当和孤寡老人告别时，老人的眼里噙着眼泪，我心里想：以后有时间，我会经常来看望您的。

小说逐渐也满足不了我的胃口，我开始读历史书。我为大唐的丝绸之路感到惊叹;我为清政府的腐败无能感到愤慨;我为一九四九年中华人民共和国成立感到喜悦。

读书使我单调的.生活变得五彩缤纷，书中栩栩如生的人物将我的心彻底征服。读书让我的生活更美好。

Christmas Day is on December 25th. It was originated in the western

country, but today, this festival has been celebrated by the world. For the

manufacturers, they are very happy to make this day as a shopping day. I enjoy

the great atmosphere.

I had a very special Christmas day last year. I experienced the western

style festival. There was a new foreign teacher taught us the lesson. She was

about 50 years old and she was very kind and we all liked her. On Christmas Day,

she brought us the desserts she made early in the morning. We enjoyed the

home-made cakes. Whats more, she invited us to came to her house and spent the

day with her. Then for the first time, I ate big turkey, which was so delicious.

The turkey was filled with many stuffs and the flavor was so good. After dinner,

we sang songs and danced.

Thanks to my foreign teacher, I experienced the American style festival. It

was such funny for me. Though today many people enjoy shopping in all kinds of

festivals, the meaning of these festival should be remembered.

去年暑假，我随父母去埃及旅游，我们参观了埃及国家博物馆和吉萨金字塔群。

我们上了二楼，直奔博物馆的中心——图坦卡蒙展区。图坦卡蒙法老9岁登基，19岁神秘死亡。由于他在位时间短，所以没来得及建造金字塔，只能葬于贵族墓室。即使这样，小法老的陪葬品却非常丰富。展区中央的玻璃罩里陈列着金光灿灿的法老的黄金面具。它用纯金铸成，重达17.23公斤，栩栩如生地雕刻出了法老的面部轮廓，工艺十分精细，在面具的额头部位还有一条代表着权力和地位的眼镜蛇。如果说《蒙娜丽莎》是卢浮宫的镇宫之宝，那么黄金面具就是埃及国家博物馆的镇馆之宝了。展区里还有许多陪葬品，比如珍宝首饰，法老的宝座、床、金棺等，我们在这里停留了比较长的时间。

走出图坦卡蒙展区，我们又匆匆参观了王室木乃伊馆和其他展区的文物。

下午1点，我们前往开罗近郊吉萨高地参观金字塔群。这里有被誉为世界七大奇迹之首的胡夫金字塔，它现高136米，底座边长230多米，塔身由230万块平均重2.5吨的石头砌成。看起来十分雄伟。

我们参观了一座金字塔的内部，沿着一条又窄又矮的长长阶梯弯腰走下去就是一个墓室，里面空空的什么都没有。

我们还参观了狮身人面像。它高22米，长73米，一个耳朵就有两米高。由于千年风化，它的鼻子已经化为乌有了，所以看起来没有想象中的那么好看。那真是令人难忘的一天!

我住在外婆家的第二天，我舅舅说带我和妹妹去爬山，我高兴得一蹦三尺高呢!

出发路上，我一直在看风景，真美啊!山清水秀。一棵棵树木和花草在山上均匀地铺着，把山衬托得更加光彩迷人。

历经了“舅舅八十一难”，堵车，超速，闪电漂移……我们“师徒四人”终于来到了目的地——寺庙。寺庙可真大，里面还有很多小庙，有清风寺，千佛寺等等的，大门面前，有一个静水池，池旁有几个大勺子，勺子上面写着健康。平安。智慧等祝福的词语。听说只要用大勺子装一点静水，洒在石龙头上，就会梦想成真。

继续往下走就会看到一个寺，是用来拜佛，捐钱的，我跪在红毯上，拜了三下，在心里祈祷猴年我们全家平安幸福。然后我从口袋里掏出五元捐了出去。出来后，我表妹在一个类似广场的一个地方向我招手，我跑了过去，啊哈，原来“广场”就是一个大平台啊，可以远眺。

我喜欢这里，因为我今天玩得很高兴!
