Dalian is my hometown. It’s a pretty city in the northeast of China, and it has a population of 5.3 million people. It’s on the coast. It has modern seaport and airport. Its scenery is so beautiful and the climate is so pleasant that travelers all over the world come to visit it . it’s famous for the seafood, the football team and the International Fashion Festival. Shanghai is the biggest city which lies on the east coast of China. It’s on the River Chang Jiang, too. It’s older, bigger and busier than Dalian. The buildings are taller and population is over twice larger than that of Dalian-13 million. The weather there is neither too hot nor too cold. Lots of places of interest attract visitors from other countries all the year round. I would like to work there to make more money when I grow up. It’s one of the largest trade centers in the world.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double FifthFestival, is celebrated

on May 5th on lunarcalendar.It is a folk festival widely spread with ahistory of

over 2,000 years, and is one of the mostimportant Chinese festivals as well.

There are variouscelebrating activities on that day, among which the customs of

eating rice dumplings anddragon boat racing are quite important.There are many

legends on the origin of the DragonBoat Festival.Some people think it is to

commemorate the poet Qu Yuan, while others say it isto be in honour of Wu Zi_u,

a famous general during the Warring States period. However, thelegend of Qu Yuan

spreads most widely. People appreciate highly the noble sentiment andprominent

talent of this patriotic poet and are very sympathetic with the ending that

hecommitted suicide by drowning himself in a river.

Lingling asked her friends to come to her home. She wanted to make

something nice for them to eat. She just learned how to make a scrambled egg.

She tried to make it for them. She broke eggs in a bowl and put some salt in it.

Then she placed a frying pan on the stove, and put a little cooking oil in the

pan. While she was waiting for the oil to become hot, she stirred the egg in the

bowl. As soon as the oil became hot, she poured the egg into the pan, As one

side turned yellow, she turned it over. When both sides were cooked.the

scrambled egg was ready to eat.
