Here is a difference between science and technology.Science is a method of

aircraft-flying overhead; we do not have the option of refusing to breathe

polluted air. Unlike science, progress in technology must be our slave and not

the reverse. The legitimate purpose of technology is to serve peopie--people in

general, not merely some people; and future generations, not merely those who

presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

鸟妈妈的神情变得严肃起来，说：“你们要学会自己保护自己，照顾自己，你们会长大，将来有一天也会自己的家。妈妈现在虽然能保护你们，但妈妈迟早有一天会老去，会飞不动，会不能保护你们，甚至会离你们而去。你们得学会保护自己，分清好坏，学会独立，不能什么都依靠别人，即使是你的影子，也会在黑暗时离开你，懂吗？”孩子们似乎明白了鸟妈妈的意思，便点了点头，说：“妈妈，我们会保护自己的，放心吧！”鸟妈妈听了欣慰的笑了笑。
