The Origin of Halloween

While there are many versions of the origins and old customs of Halloween, some remain consistent by all accounts. Different cultures view Holloween somewhat differently but traditional Halloween practices remain the same.

Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead.

Samhain signifies "summers end" or November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were fed on superstition.

The Celts believed the souls of the dead roamed the streets and villages at night. Since not all spirits were thought to be friendly, gifts and treats were left out to pacify the evil and ensure next years crops would be plentiful. This custom evolved into trick-or-treating.

前些天，南京城下起了第一场雪。惊喜之余，一丝惆怅又在我的心头萦绕。看着书桌上薄如蝉翼的台历，猛然发觉一年时光将要从指尖悄然离去。既然冬天已经来到，不妨为刚走过的秋天做一个总结。

9月，正是热闹的开学季。初一的新生们嬉嬉笑笑地迈进了初中校园。开学那天的情景，三个多月后回想起来，还能使我回味无穷。

我走在通往正门的小路上，脑子里想的都是来自未来生活的挑战。我一直以学霸的形象示人，很累，也很无奈。我想摆脱这无形的压力，但又怕成绩退步后，被人笑话。于是，我加快脚步，要快快到教室里自习。殊不知路旁的桂花树的枝头上已然有些桂花开放。而那群新生呢?他们四处打量着，浑身上下都散发着蓬勃的朝气。在他们身上我仿佛看到了我的影子，那时的我也是如此，比现在多了份活力，少了份忧愁。

“叭嗒”一声，一位新生摘桂花却不小心折断树枝的声音吸引了我。他先是尴尬地笑了笑，随后又像什么事也没发生一般，将桂花放在手掌上端详了一番。“这么美又香的花揣在兜里定能使新同学和老师快速记住我吧。”他小声嘀咕道。我理解他的心情。因为一年之前的我也有这般闲情雅致和对生活的热爱与期待。而现在呢?一年的磨练使我的活力消退，繁忙的学业使我连看桂花的时间都很少有。忽地，一阵风吹来，我所有的困惑都从这风中得到了解答。

蓦地，我明白了，生活本不应如此紧迫，马不停蹄的我们也应该放慢脚步了，我们应怀有一颗热爱生活的心，留意身边的美好，其实也是一种热爱生活的表现。“所以一切都会好起来的，对吗?”我心中暗暗祈祷。

后来生活真的变得明朗起来了，只因我有一颗热爱生活的心。运动会那天下雨，让我感到了惊喜与失望的交织;学农活动，让我体会到了粮食的来之不易。枯树叶变成黄蝴蝶，让我感叹生命的短暂与永恒……换作从前的我，我是从中读不出这些感情的。可当我走过这个秋天，我仿佛已经具备了这种能力。

自古逢秋悲寂寥，我言秋日胜春朝!秋天并不是一个树叶枯黄，万物萧条的季节。走过秋天，我对生活有了新的感悟——生活本不应如此紧迫，我们都应怀有一颗热爱生活的心，从容地走过每一天。

我能够想象的到在这一路上我一直都在不断寻找着新的东西，正好像在之前的时候我们能够找到一个稳定的兼职或者是稳定的工作，但是时间一长我们并不会满足于此，我们会想着在未来能够寻求更大的突破，我们想着能够在将来有更好的发展机遇。也许很多时候这种不满足就是对自己内在的要求和发展的动力。

我们会知道当你在一个行业中有一定成就的时候，你可能慢慢的新鲜感和自我价值感就会淡化，你不知道自己继续进行下去，是否一直都在重复之前的生活，你不知道这样的生活到底能否带给你心意，当然除了能让你养家糊口殷实无忧之外。

所以在这样的目标之下，你就开始不断尝试自己的心旅途，你知道原来所有人都在不断地努力去寻找新的故事，你也知道原来在这样的漫长时光当中，每一个人都成为了这里的一份子，每个人都在不断地加入，成为自己这里永远的英雄，或许在每一个人的心目中，他们都存活着一个别人无法理解的印象，那就好像是另外一个镜子里面的自己，每一个人都在和自己在做着斗争，每个人都在努力着突破那些权衡突破那些传统。

可实际上当我们真的掉入那样的陷阱之后，你就会发现所有的思绪根本就是连接不到一起的，当我看着你在指手画脚去说那么多故事的时候，你就觉得这一切其实从来都不是一个人的梦想。

每一个人都在我们心目中有了不一样的概念，然而这一切对于我们而言都是一场不可多得的谋划与觊觎，他们竟然很早就放弃了自己的梦想，放弃了这些行动的可能性，那么在此之后他们再拾起来的机会也寥寥无几。

这是个春色流波的清晨，江面上起了层淡淡雾气，一叶轻舟自两岸山崖间轻盈转出，船娘熟练地摇橹，载着一船淡红的霞光破雾而行，精巧的船头掠开清澈晶莹的水面，船声欸乃，在宁静的晨光里悠悠荡开。

“喂……那船娘。”岸上突然传来清脆的呼声，船娘闻声望去，便见浅绿衣衫的少女立在岸上冲她挥着手，她盈盈地笑，身姿轻俏，眸子亮得似将晨间轻雾都照薄了几分。

船娘闻声立即停下船，我坐在船上，晃晃悠悠，好不舒服，学习的紧张，生活的烦恼，都已烟消云散。我撩起船帘，欣赏岸上美景：茶坊里，人们摇着扇，品着茶，好不悠闲自在;酒肆里，划拳行令，欢笑挂在人们的眉梢;挑担的，骑马的，抬桥的，或立，或坐，或行，人来人往络绎不绝……“卖炊饼了，武家的.炊饼哦……”好耳熟悉的叫卖声忽然响起，定睛一看，原来是武大朗，忙让船娘停下船，曳着长裙，走向岸边，“武大哥，这炊饼怎么卖?”他憨憨地笑：“三文钱。”我买了一块炊饼，赶紧咬一口，顿时满嘴里溢起香香甜甜的味道。

不知哪里长了桐花，紫云般飘过，信步于汴河岸边，看见眼前景色，不由一笑：青山隐隐，绿水迢迢，白鹤成行，古柏成林，落英缤纷。绵绵春雨打湿了花朵，那花朵也傲气，依就明艳逼人，我撑起随身所带的油纸伞，俯身凑近花朵，一缕清逸的香味喷薄而出，一曲古琴忽如其来，银瓶乍破，铮然而起风雷惊天，溅起激越之声。我闭上眼睛，细细品味那超然之曲，轻轻附唱超来，隐约风起幽香染上轻弦，脑海之中似有惊鸿照影碧水连天，芳华女子俯身羞闻玉兰花娇之景，“月如腰，琴指蹈，醉时狂歌醒时笑，莫辜负青春正年少……”那抚琴之人是个女子，轻呤浅唱，我不由得想起了《金缕曲》，只听得最后一句——“把酒问月妲娥可好，金缕一曲羡煞尘器。”连忙睁眼就要寻着琴声过去，想起我此时正在岸边，这么一冲不就要“戏水”了吗?可惜等我反应回来，已经“红销香断”了。“啊……”我揉着满头风中凌乱的头发，“腾”地一声坐起，不由又开始回想那梦中之景，那抚琴之女，……不由哈哈一笑，颇为满足，继续睡觉去了。
