While Jobs built some of the more venerable brands in the zeitgeist today (Apple, Pixar) and created mobile devices that drive social media use, there’s another insight that emerged over the course of this 600-page journey. It’s what made Steve Jobs Steve Jobs. It’s also a key business skill that’s rarely addressed directly and that is focus. Laser-like, precision focus on what you want and how you can get there. As a young, college drop-out, Jobs worked on an apple-growing commune. His job? Pruning the tree branches so they would grow stronger. In many ways, “the Steve Jobs school of business leadership” is one of understanding focus.Focused Work Teams,Focused Design,Focus on Details,Focus on What’s Next,Focus on Ideas, Not Presentations,Focus on the Customer Experience。

When I read my grandfather during a fierce battle with the sharks, I really worry about my grandfather, grandfather, however, is always the spirit of optimism to face some great difficulties, see here, I couldnt help think of yourself. When I met with some difficulties, I always feel very frustrated, feel very tired, really want to escape from reality. Look again at Santiago ALGOL grandpa, undeterred by whether encounter any difficulty, but bravely to face!

We are the future of our motherland, should be like Santiago aspiring ALGOL grandfather, to the pursuit of better, bigger targets. I believe that with my efforts, I will become like Santiago ALGOL grandpa so brave, so brave to fight.

Anne is a distinctive girl. She had her own mind. Maybe in the views of others she is a naughty girl. Especially she has a quiet sister. Comparing with Margot she was not favorable. At the beginning her general appearance her character her manners were discussed from A to Z. But with the time going by she were becoming sensible. One must apply one’s reason to everything earning to obey to hold our tongue to help to be good to give in. Life has the great power to change us to adapt it. In addition Anne started afresh and tried to get to the bottom of it all. As she said we should examine the whole matter carefully ourselves and find out what is true and what is exaggerated. In our daily life we often meet arguments with parents. We can stick to the Anne’s principle. If parents are wrong we shall try first of all to make them alter their ideas and if we don’t succeed we shall stick to our own opinions and judgement. Although she lived in a small room she still had a brightful heart. She believed that it was spiring within her she felt that spring was awaking she felt it in her whole body and soul. And in the book she wrote and thought much of the time about things which very sensitive. For example she described a lot about the affair with Peter. It’s normal for a teenager. I think parents should read this book so they can regard this question correctly.

Anne said “One certainly could not call us rich now but all my hopes are pinned on after the war.” Now we are in the peaceful world hope is full of our life. So there is no reason putting off achieving dreams we should treasure everyone everything every moment that we have.

Thoughts or reflections on reading Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights was written by Emily Bronte, it published in 1847.But at that time, it seemed to hold little promise, selling very poorly and receiving only a few mixed reviews. I found this in our school library, I chose this book because the title attracted me. Wuthering Heights is structured around two parallel love stories, the first half of the novel centering on the love between Catherine and Heathcliff, while the less dramatic second half features the developing love between young Catherine and Hareton. In contrast to the first, the latter tale ends happily, restoring peace and order to Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange. In the story, the two houses, Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, represent opposing worlds and values.

I spent twenty days reading this book. After reading this book, I felt for Heathcliff at first. Heathcliff begins his life as a homeless orphan on the streets of Liverpool, and then he tyrannized by Hindley Earnshaw. But he becomes a villain when he acquires power and returns to Wuthering Heights with money and the trappings of a gentleman. His malevolence proves so great and long—lasting. As he himself points out, his abuse of Isabella—his wife is purely sadistic, as he amuses himself by seeing how much abuse she can take and still come cringing back for more.

Catherine represents wild nature, in both her high, lively spirits and her occasional cruelty. She loves Heathcliff so intensely that she claims they are the same person. However, her actions are driven in part by her social ambitions, which initially are awakened during her first stay at the Lintons, and which eventually compel her to marry Edgar. Catherine is free—spirited, beautiful, spoiled, and often arrogant, she is given to fits of temper, and she is torn between her both of the men who love her. The location of her coffin symbolizes the conflict that tears apart her short life. She is buried in a corner of the Kirkyard. In contrast to Catherine, Isabella Linton—Catherine’s sister—in—law represents culture and civilization, both in her refinement and in her weakness. Ultimately, she ruins her life by falling in love with Heathcliff. He never returns her feelings and treats her as a meretool in his quest for revenge on the Linton family.

Just as Isabella Linton serves as Catherine’s foil, Edgar Linton serves as Heathcliff’s. Edgar grows into a tender, constant, but cowardly man. He is almost the ideal gentleman. However, this full assortment of gentlemanly characteristics, along with his civilized virtues, proves useless in Edgar’s clashes with his foil. He sees his wife obviously in love with another man but unable to do anything to rectify the situation. Heathcliff, who gains power over his wife, sister , and daughter.

The whole story make people’s mood heavy. Fortunately, the end is happy.

The author Emily Bronte lived an eccentric, closely guarded life. She was born in 1818, two years after Charlotte—the author of Jane Eyre and a year and a half before her sister Anne, who also became an author. Her father worked as a church rector, and her aunt, who raised the Bronte children after their mother died, was deeply religious. Emily Bronte did not take to her aunt’s Christian fervor, the character of Joseph, a caricature of an evangelical, may have been inspired by her aunt’s religiosity. The Brontes lived in Haworth, a Yorkshire village in the midst of the moors. These wild, desolate expanses—later the setting of Wuthering Heights—made up the Brontes daily environment, and Emily lived among them her entire life. She died in 1848, at the age of thirty.

I like this book because it rest on the unforgettable characters. Wuthering Heights is based partly on the Gothic tradition, a style of literature that featured supernatural encounters, crumbling ruins, moonless nights, and grotesque imagery, seeking to create effects of mystery and fear. I would like to recommend this book to other readers.

Jane eyre is a long time ago I see the book.Recently watched it again, to say the book makes me feel most is Jane sensitivity when the poor, the tenacity of her when she was young.

When I saw her in her aunt treat her vicious words as well as her aunt three childrens behavior, see Jane bullied by a few of them, my eyes was a acid, heart some pain. After ask again: "if I were Jane I can insist on? I can grow up you dont like Jane to cynical?"I dont believe me.Because I have such a good environment since childhood.Since the childhood is in mom and dad grandpas grandmother grew up under the baby. From had no bitter and tired.Later, with the help of a good maid, she went to that school. In the condition of hard school, Jane assiduous study, she also learn very quickly. No complaining, just feel a little relief, is because in the pain of her aunts house is the life of the day made her feel good instead.

I saw Jane twice in the day of school, always put down the book quietly thinking: Jane she really very fierce! After the unfair life, in such a difficult environment, she can still maintain the state of mind.Like before all misfortune is the test of god for her, after the exam, she to grow, her mind more beautiful, not become distorted.Perhaps this is Janes strong reflect ~ if her fragile then she will become unproductive, pessimistic people.

After to her silently away. She resolutely left Edward rochester. But Jane is at the time of Edward the distress went back to his side, take care of her, to accompany him. Here, Janes love for Edward let I was moved.

Written in the first chapter of the book Pride and Prejudice is an extraordinary sentence of which even a person who has had only a brief look upon the book will not fail to receive a deep impression-It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. In terms of Sherlock Holmes, we’d better alter the sentence into “It is a fact universally accepted by readers throughout the world that an excellent book in possession of our famous detective Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly a masterpiece of all times.” Perhaps this is one of the most obvious explanations for the unrivaled popularity of “Holmes series” in the field of detective stories. Overwhelmed by the recommendations provided by my friends, I decided to take a look on this Sherlock Holmes and the Duke’s Son originally published by Oxford University Press.

As a whole, this book is about a case concerning the Duke’s missing son. Arthur, the Duke’s son, was found out in a certain morning to have disappeared, accompanied with which was also the disappearance of the German teacher. The school master Dr. Huxtable then turned to the famous detective of the time Sherlock Holmes for help. Realizing how tough and important the case is, Holmes immediately made up his mind to accept the case and followed Dr. Huxtable back to Mackleton by train. Having formed a rough idea about the whole matter, Holmes probed into the case immediately and had a careful investigation of the entire area shortly after the arrival, during the process of which he discovered the body of the German teacher Heidegger. Finally, primarily due to his prominent ability as a detective, he managed to unravel the mystery and obtained the twelve thousand pounds promised by the Duke.

Having once started reading this fiction, I was completely immersed in the mysterious story presented by the book. As the saying goes, “Well begun, half done”. At the beginning of the story, just like many other detective stories, the author gives us a brief description of the condition by the words of a client. However, unlike other ones, this story first delineates the client’s strange behavior at length to indicate the severity of the incident in order to attract the readers to continue reading it. As is known to all, vivid depiction is essential to detective stories since it can help the readers understand each figure’s characteristics and visualize the scenes, thus making the story more authentic and attractive. Therefore, trying to present a “real world” to his readership, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the original “Holmes series”, has skillfully arranged the plots of the whole story from the perspective of Dr. Watson, a character not so specialized in discovering the truth hidden behind the enigmatic happenings as Holmes but so loyal to Sherlock Homes as a friend that he always accompanies Holmes wherever he goes. In this way, he elaborately depicted every scene and character in the book, Apart from the special start, the ending of the whole story, being dramatic but reasonable, is certainly an outstanding one. After all, except the author himself, who knows that the Duke’s seemingly ordinary secretary is in fact the Duke’s bastard? In addition, who knows that the Duke actually has already been acquainted with the whole thing before Holmes solves this complicated problem? Yet, surprising as it is, this ending seems so natural that it fits all the plots of the story perfectly well. While enjoying this wonderful story, I could do nothing but admire the wonderful design of this masterpiece as well as the author’s gorgeous writing skill. Closing my eyes, I can even “see” the story happening just like watching a film. Not until then did I understand why the Japanese cartoon film Detective Conan used this “Conan” as the name of its hero.

As far as I am concerned, nothing is more admirable and surprising in the hero Sherlock Homes than his profound knowledge which has certainly assisted him a lot when he was studying the case. Take the bicycle tyres for instance, Holmes actually is capable of recognizing 42 different varieties of bicycle tyres. What’s more, according to his other stories, Holmes has studied different kinds of newspapers, cigarettes, people’s footprints and other special things as well. Therefore, he seems to have the mastery of anything relevant to the cases he deals with. Except for his illimitable knowledge, Holmes also specializes in arranging the facts in order and then finding the fact leading him to a great discovery or even the truth itself. From his speaking “Every mystery has an answer”, we can readily shape the impression of a man with great intelligence and inflexible will. In this case, after getting rid of unrelated facts, Sherlock Homes eventually grasped the clue and discovered the amazing fact.

Needless to say, as a world-renowned masterpiece, Sherlock Holmes and the Duke’s Son has attracted and is still charming numerous readers from all corners of the world and people from all walks of life. The “Holmes series” has already set up a standard against which all the following detective fictions are measured. Sherlock Holmes, beyond all doubt, has become a name firmly rooted in people’s memories. Although Dr. Watson’s closing The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes in 1927 was a great pity to the readers, the discontinuance of the entire “Holmes series” may have actually added to the legendary stature of Sherlock Holmes.

The pilgrim"s progress can be said to be a very famous and very influential book in the Christian literature and a lot of people have read it. Actually when I first read the pilgrim"s progress I am not interested in it,even feel boring, and the result is I want to give up halfway. Why,because I don"t have experience of the Christian in this book. He encountered many difficulties, but I have not experienced, so I am not interested in it when I readied it.

As time goes by I read it more and more, and I began to feel deeply the process of Christian struggling against difficulties. Then I find all sorts of experience of protagonist Christian is the mirror of most of ordinary people.

The difficulties he met, also is that we met. His failure was also that we had been through. And each time he regained faith, which also brought us a great joy and hope, because we also are the people who have pursuit and ideal.

From the knowledge level to see,The pilgrim"s progress is the most vitality predictions. This work is to write a virtual world, but it is the reality of the world in essence. This can make us more aware of the complexity behind the real world.

This work mainly displayed that human losing himself needed redemption, and only can be saved through confessing their iniquity and believing God. All kinds of people Christian meet on the road are the people banyan met in any market, or any other streets in that era of Britain. This is the reason that novel have b vitality.

Reading this book, what make me feel touched and shock is that Christian faithfully began his difficult lonely journey for the beliefs in his heart. All the way he went through despair mire, humiliation valley, the valley of the shadow of death, vanity fair, doubt fort, and all the way he defended entanglement of atheist, ignorance, Mr. Smart, Mr. Apple, Mr. Love money and so on,and finally came to the kingdom of heaven to pay a formal visit god.

Did you ever have the experience like Christian being overcome by difficulties?

Did you ever same to feel very sad, and even discouraged?

Let Christian’ s words remind us once again:

My enemies!

Do not rejoice over me,when I fall, I will rise up, I sit in darkness, and Jehovah will be a light unto me.

Although we are not Christian, we can get a lot of valuable spiritual wealth from the Christian. In order to the paradise of the heart, he insisted on their beliefs, had indomitable sprint, did not be afraid of all kinds of difficulties and hardships, and ultimately achieved himself ideal. In the process toward the pilgrim, the Christian experienced all kinds of hardships and temptation, but the power of the divine in his heart drove him constantly.

This is the power of faith. At each stage of the novel Christian has experienced many tests, frustrated. At the same time, he also got edification, friendship, understanding and joy. This is life"s most precious wealth. Only unswerving firmly believe that their beliefs, oneself will have the possibility of success. Give up is not successful. In the fiction, soft wanted to follow the Christian went to the kingdom of heaven, but while he encountered difficulty he hesitated and turned back. stubborn is so sure for everything, and he adhered others to accept his point of view, even he think himself he did not need the help of others, also did not need any guidance. Succinct forthright language of Christian shows that he was a man of determination and perseverance.

Only such as Christian, it will be possible to achieve their ideal. But, no one else will meet with difficulties. For example, in the valley of the shadow of death the heart of Christian appeared straggliest and hesitation. Christian had not set out on a journey yet and he was laughed at the family and the neighbor"s taunt. He met despair mire when he left not a long time. This kind of trouble continued until he reached the kingdom of heaven.

The way of going the kingdom of ideal heaven is not only bright and sunny, but also has the dark clouds. I think we can get some enlightenment from the book to solve problems we are facing today. Christian started the journey to the kingdom of heaven. We saw him on the way to heaven, and in every step he was faced with choice weather continue or not. It also makes us associate that we are always faced with the same choice like Christian in our current life journey.

The description is enough to tell everyone: faith is not a simple matter. Faith is not diversion,Even more is not a easy way of recreation In our time. everyone ,who has the ideal and faith,is the need to pay the price. A belief is not allowed to be satisfied with a smattering of knowledge. Beliefs demand people must devote your whole heart to the life of the whole to embrace that beautiful flame.

At the beginning of this century, many new writers emerged with the introduction of many new ideas. Among them, Jack London was the most popular one.

His most famous novel is the call of the wild . Although it is a story about a dog, Buck, it vividly depicts the life in the primitive North where people rushed for gold and fortune.

Buck, used to belong to a judge, was kidnapped and sold to North. Then he became a member of a dog-team pulling a sled . In the days of pulling a snow-sled, he learned to conform to the law of nature and obey the master. Finally, he found a basic instinct hidden inside him, which enabled himself to survive the tough environment. This is the call of the wild.

When you read the story, you will feel that Buck is a man instead of a dog, struggling with his fortune and conforming to the law of nature.

Though short, it is really a thrilling story. What you never forget is the tough life in the nature, the brave and crafty dog. Maybe the wild is calling you to go ahead.

While writing for only 16 years throughout his life, London produced an amazing body of work among which, White Fang, Martin Eden, the Valley of the Moon are representative.

Published in 1847, WUTHERING HEIGHTS was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author Emily Bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure. It was not until 1850, when WUTHERING HEIGHTS received a second printing with an introduction by Emilys sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back. Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of English literature.

Even so, WUTHERING HEIGHTS continues to divide readers. It is not a pretty love story; rather, it is swirling tale of largely unlikeable people caught up in obsessive love that turns to dark madness. It is cruel, violent, dark and brooding, and many people find it extremely unpleasant. And yet--it possesses a grandeur of language and design, a sense of tremendous pity and great loss that sets it apart from virtually every other novel written.

The novel is told in the form of an extended flashback. After a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from Nelly Deans, a servant who introduces us to the Earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as Wuthering Heights. It was once a cheerful place, but Old Earnshaw adopted a "Gipsy" child who he named Heathcliff. And Catherine, daughter of the house, found in him the perfect companion: wild, rude, and as proud and cruel as she. But although Catherine loves him, even recognizes him as her soulmate, she cannot lower herself to marry so far below her social station. She instead marries another, and in so doing sets in motion an obsession that will destroy them all.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS is a bit difficult to "get into;" the opening chapters are so dark in their portrait of the end result of this obsessive love that they are somewhat off-putting. But they feed into the flow of the work in a remarkable way, setting the stage for one of the most remarkable structures in all of literature, a story that circles upon itself in a series of repetitions as it plays out across two generations. Catherine and Heathcliff are equally remarkable, both vicious and cruel, and yet never able to shed their impossible love no matter how brutally one may wound the other.

As the novel coils further into alcoholism, seduction, and one of the most elaborately imagined plans of revenge it gathers into a ghostly tone: Heathcliff, driven to madness by a woman who is not there but who seems reflected in every part of his world--dragging her corpse from the grave, hearing her calling to him from the moors, escalating his brutality not for the sake of brutality but so that her memory will never fade, so that she may never leave his mind until death itself. Yes, this is madness, insanity, and there is no peace this side of the grave or even beyond.

It is a stunning novel, frightening, inexorable, unsettling, filled with unbridled passion that makes one cringe. Even if you do not like it, you should read it at least once--and those who do like it will return to it again and again.

DeadMan’sIsland

When I heard the name of this novel, I thought it was a horror fiction. But after reading it , I find it is a interesting story.

In the novel, dead man’s island was a funny island; there was a dead man living there. The heroine---Carol Sanders started to abandon herself to taking drugs after her father’s death. Her mother took her to a new place to help her forget the past. They came to London. There her mother got a job which took them to the dead man’s island. In fact , it’s a small private island in Scotland. The owner of the island is Mr. Ross.

Everything went well. But Carol Sander found something strange: Never took photographs of Mr. Ross and there is a strange room locked.

Why did Mrs. Ross have so much money to buy a island? Why can’t take photographs of Ms. Ross? Why did Mr. Ross have a room locked?

It’s really absorbing. I want to get all the answers.

In fact, there was a big secret about this island. Mr. Ross was a pop singer in the past. His real name is Jack Rosso. He had taken drugs and killed a young girl when he was a singer. He wanted to forget the past; he wanted to have a new life. So he bought a island to hide his secret. The other people on this island are his family. Actually, Jack Rosso was the “dead man” on the dead man’s island.

All the puzzles have been solved. Carol Sanders and Jack Rosso all had their backdoor past. They all wanted to hide their past. They all wanted to go to a new place and have a new life.

Everyone has personal secret. Everyone has personal past. The novel tells me something about secret. Happy memory makes us happy; heartbroken memory makes us unhappy. It’s right to deposit happy memory and throw away heartbroken memory. Forget all the unhappy things; you may have a more beautiful future.

As the novel tells me, keep you bad memory as a secret and keep it in your mind forever.

Dead man’s island is not for “dead man”. It’s just for someone who has secrets. It’s a place for you to forget the unhappy past. It’s a place for you to start your new life. In fact, it’s also a good place to live.

Do you want to have a look at the island? If you want, please read Dead Man’s Island first.

In a ward, it’s a really interesting novel.

In 1872, Phileas Fogg, an English gentleman, bets 20,000 pounds that he can travel around the world in 80 days. Remember, there were no airplanes or other types of high speed travel.

Fogg and his servant, Passepourtout, leave from London, England and travel acrofour continents on their trip. In India, they meet a beautiful princeand save her life. She joins them on the journey and falls in love with Phileas Fogg.

They are followed around the world by Detective Fix, who has mistaken Fogg for a bank robber. He causes the group lots of trouble and delays, and finally arrests Fogg on the last day of the journey.

The trip was also delayed by storms at sea, unfinished railroad tracks, and an Indian attack in the American West.

Do you think Phileas Fogg and his friends made it around the world in 80 days?

With all of the delays, the group thought they arrived back at London five minutes too late. However, the next day they discovered they were one day ahead of schedule. This was because they had travelled all the way around the world in an eastward direction, ma-ki-ng them gain an extra day as they travelled acrodifferent time zones.

Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodneeventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodnecould conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodneis omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodneis one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodneis to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodneis an utterly worthleperson. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodneundoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodnein humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’

That is to say a person without goodneis destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.
