汞是唯一在常温下呈液体的金属元素。俗称“朱砂”。汞可溶于水，空气中。它巨大的毒性令人谈之色变。它主要来源于电池等物品。据统计1970~1979年全世界直接向水体排放的汞总量达1.6万吨!排向大气的汞量也达10万吨。当水中或空气中的汞浓度过高时，会导致树木枯死，人类患上因汞摄入过高引发的病症，如日本南部九州湾有一个叫水俣的小镇，这里居住着4万居民，以渔业为生。1939年开始，日本氮肥公司的合成醋酸厂开始生产氯乙烯，工厂的生产废水一直排放入水误湾。该公司在生产氯乙烯和醋酸乙烯时，使用了含汞的催化剂，使废水中含有大量的汞。这种汞在水体中，被水中的鱼食用，在鱼体内转化成有毒的甲基汞。人食用鱼后，汞在人体内聚集从而产生一种怪病：患者开始时，只是口齿不清，步履蹒跚，继而面部痴呆，全身麻木，耳聋眼瞎，最后变成神经失常，直至躬身狂叫而死。1972年据环境厅统计，水误镇共患水误病180人，死亡50多人，就在新线县阿赫野川亦发现100多水误病患者，8人死亡。据报到，患者人数远不止此，仅水误镇的受害居民，即达万余人。

Everyone can do something for our environment. For me, I should try to save electricity in my daily life. For example, if I am the last person leave the classroom in the evening, I will always remember to turn off the lights. In order to protect our forests, I will use paper wisely. I should try to use both sides of paper whenever it is possible. I will not use things like paper cups and disposable chopsticks because they are made of wood. The environmental pollution is worse and worse /more and more seriously today. Water is polluted; we have no clean water to drink. Many trees are cutting down, some animals is getting less and less. Some factories are pouring dirty air in the sky, the population is increasing faster and faster, resources are getting less and less…etc. Not only does it affect our lives and health, it but also has agreat affection in the future. Peoples health has been greatly affected by air, noise and water pollution. Many people died of diseases. In order to live a better life, we need protect our world.

We shouldn’t throw away rubbish everywhere. We want to recycle, reduce, reuse things .Don’t waste things. This saves money and reduces pollution. Use things for as long as possible. We don’t use plastic bags. We must plant more trees and stop the people cutting them .We hope our worldbecomes more and more beautiful.

Recently I found out that some bad things happened in our school.

At ordinary times is very neat and clean campus, has recently become some dirty, some corner or in the corridors, students can be seen the plastic bags used to hold things, eat some fruit peel, cabinet and throw away the packing bag of after loud snacks. Is each class in our school there is a certain region responsible for cleaning, clean, will arrange the students per class every day the rubbish is certainly in the classmate after cleaning the health, and others left, I think the quality of the students really is very low, I dont know to cherish other peoples work achievement, dont know how to protect the campus environment.

最近我发现我们的学校发生了一些不好的现象。

平时十分整洁干净的校园，最近却变的有些脏兮兮的，一些角落里或者是走廊里，都能看到同学们用来装事物的塑料袋，还有一些水果皮、碎纸屑和吃完小零食以后扔掉的包装袋。我们学校是每个班都有一定的卫生打扫的负责区域的，每天每班都会安排学生打扫，这些垃圾肯定都是在同学打扫完卫生之后，又有人丢下的，我觉得这些同学的素质真的很低，都不知道珍惜别人的劳动成果，不知道保护校园的环境。
