Most organisms live near the surface, where the greatest pH change would be expected to occur, but deep-ocean lifeforms may be more sensitive to pH changes.Coral reefs and other organisms whose skeletons or shells contain calcium carbonate may be particularly affected, the team speculate. They could find it much more difficult to build these structures in water with a lower pH.In recent years some people have suggested deliberately storing carbon dioxide from power stations in the deep ocean as a way of curbing global warming.But Dr Caldeira said that such a strategy should now be re-considered."Previously, most experts had looked at ocean absorption of carbon dioxide as a good thing - because in releasing CO2 into the atmosphere we warm the planet; and when CO2 is absorbed by the ocean, it reduces the amount of greenhouse warming.

Nowadays, divorce rate has been rising sharply in China, because most

people think that its better to get divorced than stick to a bad marriage. But

My mother has no idea that her ninetieth birthday is coming up. She has no notion of the time of day, the day of the week. the season of the year, the year of the century. 记得我三岁时骑的是四个轱辘的自行车，那时看到别的小朋友都起两个轮子的自行车时，我也很想骑。可是心中的心魔怎么也消失不了，总是怕摔着，怕磕疼了。爸爸妈妈给了我很大的鼓励，最后把两个小轱辘卸掉了，骑上去没有重心，总是东倒西歪，两只脚没有同时离开地的时候。还没联系一会儿，我就像泄了气的皮球，撅起了嘴巴。爸爸妈妈看我这么一会儿就泄气了，给我讲了好多道理，我也听不进去。最后爸爸妈妈使用一计，让我很快学会了骑车。

爸爸妈妈也把自己的自行车推了出来，骑了上去并对我说：“婷婷，我和妈妈要骑车出去玩了，再见啦!”我一看爸爸妈妈要走，一边骑上车追，一边说：“你们别走呀，等等我。”这是爸爸妈妈才停下来，看着我，会心的笑了。我立刻停了下来，抱住了爸爸，对他说：“爸爸，我会骑车了。”

就这样，我学会了骑车，经过我刻苦的练习，我不到一个星期就掌握了技巧。我们一家子骑车出去玩了。

“困难像弹簧，你弱它就强。困难像弹簧，你强它就弱。”

我通过那件事终于明白了这个道理，做事要坚持，不能半途而废。一定要吃到成功的糖果!

Nowadays, pets become so close and friendly to our human-beings that more

and more people enjoy keeping them. Pets can bring them a lot of joys and

happiness, because playing with pets is a good way to communicate with the

nature. Besides, pets can comfort old people who live alone. With the companion

of pets, they won’t feel lonely. Nevertheless, I’m not interested in keeping

pets at all. For one thing, keeping pets is bad for environmental protection,

since pets usually make a lot of noise and contaminate the roads. For another,

the virus carried by pets may cause fatal disease. What’s more, sometimes pets

may attack people when they are unhappy. Consequently, we had better not keep

too many pets, so as to ensure our health and security. Besides, those pet

lovers must take some effective measures to prevent their pets from hurting

people and polluting our environment.

one day on my way home from school, i saw an old woman standing by the roadside①, with a heavy bag on her back. she seemed very worried. i went up to ask her what the matter was. the granny② told me that she had just come from the countryside to see her son, who worked in the steel works. as she had never been here before, she did not know the way to the factory. so i took her there. there was really a lot of difficulty in finding her son＇s place. the granny and her son were very thankful to me.

i got home very late, tired and hungry, but i felt happy, for i had done a good deed for the people.

改掉性急的毛病

林则徐是清朝后期一位著名的政治家，也是我国近代史上赫赫有名的民族英雄。因主张严禁鸦片，抵抗西方侵略，坚持维护中国主权和民族利益，受到中国人的敬仰。

但林则徐小时候，虽然机灵聪明，但性子很急，办事毛毛糙糙，经常出些差错。父亲觉得小孩子这样下去养成惯性，将来办事要出大错。

一天，父亲把林则徐叫到跟前，给他讲了一个"急性判官"的故事。

从前有一个判官，由于他非常孝敬父母，所以每遇到不是孝子的犯人，他就判得特别严。

一天，有两个人拉来一个年轻人，说这个年轻人是个不孝之子，要判官严惩。判官一听，立刻火冒三丈，就喊："来人呀，打这个逆子五十大板。"

这个年轻人想开口申辩，可是嘴被堵着，有话没法说，只好挨了五十板子，屁股被打得血肉模糊。

一会儿，有个老太婆拄着拐杖急匆匆走进来，哭诉着有两个盗贼溜进院偷牛，被她的儿子捉住，并要送他们到官府来，可是力不从心，两个强盗反把她的儿子捆走，并告诉判官他就是这一个孝顺儿子。

判官一听，心里暗想：莫非恶人先告状，我刚才打的就是她的儿子?他忙叫人把那两个捆人的人找来，但他们早已溜走了。这时，被打昏过去的年轻人突然呻吟了一声，老太婆一看，正是自己的儿子，惊叫一声，昏倒在地，再也爬不起来了。

聪明的林则徐知道父亲的这个故事是针对他的毛病讲的，便说："我一定好好改一改急躁的毛病。"

"急性判官"的故事，牢牢记在了林则徐的心里，此后他更加发愤苦读。

Good morning th teachers and fellow students. Today we would like to introduce a few favorite books to you.

My favorite book is (Italian: Cuore). This is a diary written by an Italian boy Enrico. The diary is about his life and study. It included various touching stories that happened around Enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten "monthly" stories told by his teacher during the class. Every word in the chapter describes the word "love". From patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.

This novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. I really like this book very much. How about you? What is your favorite book?

Well, it is a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. The story is happy ending.

Sure. It is because the story taught us to be brave and to face the challenges and difficulties with courage. I am deeply impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story. I have decided to learn from her from now on.
