complain, however, that the traditional sense of community and street life of

the hutongs cannot be replaced. Some particularly historic or picturesque

hutongs are being preserved and restored by the government, especially for the

2008 Olympics. One such example can be seen at Nanchizi.

Mandarin cuisine is the local style of cooking in Beijing. Peking Roast

Duck is perhaps the most well-known dish. The Manhan Quanxi ("Manchu-Han Chinese

full banquet") is a traditional banquet originally intended for the

ethnic-Manchu emperors of the Qing Dynasty; it remains very prestigious and

expensive.

Teahouses are also common in Beijing. Chinese tea comes in many varieties

and some rather expensive types of Chinese tea are said to cure an ailing body

extraordinarily well.

The Jingtailan is a cloisonné metalworking technique and tradition

originating from Beijing, and one of the most revered traditional crafts in

China. Beijing lacquerware is well known for the patterns and images carved into

its surface.

The Fuling Jiabing is a traditional Beijing snack food, a pancake (bing)

resembling a flat disk with filling, made from fu ling (Poria cocos (Schw.)

Christmas is one of the most important celebrations of the year for the western countries. it falls on the twenty- fifth of december and has the same importance as chinese new year to people with english backgrounds. the celebration is for the birth of jesus christ, who is the son of god in christianity. now days christmas is no longer only celebrated by the christians, but by most people from all over the world.

On the twenty- fourth of december everyone gets excited for it’s the day before christmas which is called christmas eve. the children are usually sent to bed early and are warned that “santa claus will only come and give you a present if you be good.” the younger kids actually believe that santa will come down the chimney on the sleigh that’s pulled by his reindeers. food like short bread and beer are prepared for santa when he comes, however most times parents just eat them. some children put socks and sacks up for the holding of the presents (that their parents put in).

上星期六下午，我正在因为没做完作业而烦恼，埋怨为什么上初中了，作业就这么多了，这还消化得来吗?而且做作业还有那么多的条条框框，什么英语作业要家长签字，数学作业要家长签字，语文十首古诗默写还得要家长签字!我知道老师们是为我们好，但是如果家长学历不高，即使签了字，那也只不过是个摆设。

晚上，我拿起一沓需要签字的作业，忧郁了起来，是要妈妈签字呢，还算了?因为往常拿给她签字总是一阵唿哩叭唆的。但是一想到没有完成任务，没签字，会被老师责骂，我只有硬着头皮拿去给妈妈签字。

我把作业本放在妈妈的面前，妈妈立即烦躁地说：“干什么?”我轻言轻语说：“签字!”妈妈愤懑地说：“签什么?我签你就会做这些题目哇!”我委屈地说：“是老师说要让家长签的，我什么办法。”妈妈愤怒地说：“那是老师推御责任。”我心里想，难道你这样就不是推卸责任呀!

过了一会儿，妈妈换了一个话题，说：“你以前的同学许蕙馨，她没有出来读，她在竹子岭读初中也没有看见她说要签字的。”不可理喻，那是因为她在学校住宿呀!难道你的字就这么珍贵?不肯移驾?我心里烦极了。于是，我把要签字的试卷当即揉成一团，丢在沙发上，现出一股无所谓的样子，心想：你爱签不签。

妈妈见此状，沉默了一会儿，又开始说了：“你呀，别这么死心眼，你已经初中了，要学会自立自强。我们以前五六岁时要放牛，八、九岁时去砍柴。当时，我们想读书都没时间，一放学回到家就要帮家里做事。你们现在是不懂，长大你就会后悔。我们学习全靠自己，那时根本就不要什么签字。不过你的外婆他们也没有时间管我们读书，想学时，就放牛时边看书。”

我说：“你们那时是没有什么新鲜玩意。所以才想去学习。”妈妈听了这话，却开心了起来，说：“我们那时玩的东西可多了，跳房子，跳皮筋，打木头陀螺……我自制力强……我长这么大，我可从来没有后悔过，因为尽了我的能力……我们呢，现在已经老了，许多知识都不记得了，你要是不会，就去问老师……“

是呀!我试问一下自己，自己真的尽了力吗?没有，我敢肯定地说。我以前总是想着要依靠父母。如今想来，未来是我自己的，是要靠自己打拼。我应该争取长大以后，自己也能问心无愧地说一句“我不后悔，因为我努力了”。

My Opinion on Cheating in Examinations 我对考试作弊的看法

It is known to us all that some students cheat in examinations at school.

As students, we often take examinations at school, but sometimes we have too many examinations which are too difficult for us. On the other hand, some of us are lazy and dont work hard at their lessons. So when taking examinations, they sometimes cheat in order to get better results to please their parents and teachers.

In my opinion, it is wrong to cheat in examinations because it breaks the rules of schools. We students should be honest and try to get good results by studying hard instead of cheating in examinations. Whats more, we should improve our study methods and get well prepared for examinations.

每次我放学时，都会看见许多汽车来来往往，想到车来画往，经常发生车祸，而且空气污染、能量消耗，我便想创造一辆十全十美的未来车。

我的“未来车”是青蛙的形状，车的底面有着一对船浆和四个轮子，当你需要在陆地行走时，船桨就会收进车内。当你需要在河面上行驶时，轮子就会收进车内。

我的“未来车”安全舒适。在车内，只要按下椅子的按钮，椅子就会让你躺下，帮你按摩，给你听音乐、倒果汁。如果在夏天，非常炎热，椅子就会自动变凉，当然，在冬天，椅子就会变暖，特别舒服，简直是一种仙境般的享受。说到安全装置，我的“未来车”也很齐全。当你快要和别人撞车时，它就会自动在底面出现一个巨大的弹簧，然后启动降落伞装置，带你安全降落。当你遇到猛兽袭击时，它会变成一只老虎，躲避袭击……

我的“未来车”不仅美观、舒适，而且功能齐全，有利环保。当你遇到河流过不去时，它会启动密封潜水装置，回到岸上，继续行驶。它还可以战斗，只要按箭的按扭，它的前后左右能出现十二大兵器，攻击敌人。它还能隐身，只要你对都会左侧的话筒说隐声，它就能立即消失，你可以看见别人，但别人看不见你，而且能穿越墙壁。它不用能量，只需空气和二氧化碳，就能行驶。它不仅不污染环境，而且还保护环境，它尾部排出的是清香，这清香既好闻，又驱虫，怎么样?先进吧!

我一定要“好好学习，天天向上”，长大创造出我自己的“未来车”，而不能“少壮不努力，老大徒伤悲。”
