Jacques Rogge, President, International Olympic Committee

That was spectacular. Tonight, the world was able to join in a magnificent tribute to the athletes and the Olympic spirit. It was an unforgettable and moving ceremony that celebrated the imagination, originality and energy of the Beijing Games.

We saw 204 national delegations march into the beautiful new National Stadium in the age-old tradition of the Games. Millions of people around the world were able to experience the thrill of seeing their heroes in a sea of team colours and national flags.

We witnessed athletes from these 204 countries and territories united in peace in one place. And for the next 16 days, they will be a part of one of the most thrilling competitions in history. As an Olympian, I can tell you that they will carry this memory with them forever.

This iconic stadium is one of the worlds new wonders. It was a fitting setting for an amazing Opening Ceremony, I look forward to an equally exciting and unforgettable 16 days.

独一人坐落在夕阳下，沐浴着和风的轻浮，突然看到了那正在落山的太阳，红红的，周围的房子，树木，也都被照得通红，仿佛烈火正在熊熊燃烧，燃烧着柴火……不知怎地，想到了孔老夫子的一个故事。

很早之前，孔子在陈国和蔡国之间的地方，因为缺粮受困，饭菜全无，七天没吃上米饭了。有一次孔夫子白天睡在那，颜回为了生计去讨米，讨回来后生活煮饭，快要熟了的时候。孔子看见颜回用手抓锅里的饭吃。

一会，饭熟了，颜回请孔子吃饭，孔子假装没看见颜回抓饭吃的事情。孔子起身说：“刚刚梦见我的先人，我自己先吃干净的饭然后才给他们吃。”

他这是委婉的在批评颜回之前的行为。

而聪明的颜回自然也听出了孔老夫子的弦外之音，柔声回答道：“不是那样的，刚刚碳灰飘进了锅里弄脏了米饭，学生认为正临灾祸之秋，丢掉又不好，可又不便让老师服用脏了的食物，于是自己就抓来吃了。”

孔子叹息道：“按说应该相信眼睛看见的，但是眼睛也不一定可信；应该相信自己的心，自己的心也不可以相信。你们记住，要了解人本来就不容易啊。”

就这样，这个故事流传了下来，教导世人不能因为一件不清不白的事物而草率断言事情的全部。

回头明目，自己或许也是看错了方向，一味的深陷于失败的漩涡之中，便认为自己没有了希望，没有了前进的动力，被那漩涡所深深卷入最深处。

可是我似乎没有看到，在失败之中所诞生的也有许多。

话说“失败乃至成功之母。”便是要我们在失败中的到磨砺，因为经历了失败才能品尝到败北的滋味，能够完完全全的正视自己的错误。

而那暴雨中的彩虹也是一般“不经历风雨，如何见彩虹”。看那暴雨倾盆，看那狂风肆意，可是这些可以成为庄稼的养料，可以拯救一方缺水之人民，更可以在雨后欣赏到大自然所筑起的桥梁——彩虹！

起身，回望夕阳的余晖，深深地感到了一抹柔和，那份不一般的平静需要我用心去领悟。

不因幸运而故步自封，不因厄运而一蹶不振。真正的强者，善于从顺境中找到阴影，从逆境中找到光亮，时时校准自己前进的目标。

an egg and make sure I take in enough vitamins. Even when I see the rubbish food

is tempting, I take no hesitation to say no to them. I am so proud of

myself.

每次翻看报纸、新闻，经常都能看见好人好事。总觉得，这些“英雄”离自己“遥远”。看看身边，都是人来人往，擦肩而过，几乎没有人做过令我“铭记于心”的事。可傍晚爸爸的一个故事，却让我改变了想法。

晚饭时我正在为怎么找雷锋的事例发愁，这时爸爸回来了，给我讲了一个他身边的“英雄”。

爸爸的学生，我叫他钟老师，长得黑黑瘦瘦的，平时也不太啃声。爸爸说，暑假的一天傍晚，钟老师骑自行车回家，要路过一跳小河。快到家时，听到河边有人在喊“救命”，钟老师顺着声音的方向看去，只见河里有个人在挣扎。因为是傍晚，附近没什么人，只有钟老师一个人。当时他什么也没想，就把自行车往一边一扔，便飞地跑了过去。发现河里的人离岸边还不远，就赶紧把手伸过去，奋力地抓紧他的手，使劲儿地把他往岸上拉，由于钟老师长得瘦，差点儿都被带下水了。终于把河里的人拉了上来，原来是个十几岁的孩子。孩子上来后，钟老师还关心地问他有没有受伤，也许是被吓到了，这个孩子什么也没说就一声不吭地走了。钟老师这才去推起车回家。

听完后，我的脑海中不禁浮起了一个瘦弱的身影趴在河边在奋力地救人的情景。没想到平时那有点儿“闷”，连说话都会脸红的钟老师，在关键的时刻竟然会那么地奋不顾身。

爸爸说，钟老师的这个举动没有人看到，他也是在一次偶然的聊谈中和爸爸说起的。爸爸问他，做了好事没有被感谢，没有报道，是不是不舒服呢。没想到钟老师说，其实也没什么，挽救了别人的生命，平时自己想想也会很开心。原来，在我身边竟然有这么一位默默无闻的“英雄”。我想，那个被救起的孩子以后想起这件事，心里应该会感到温暖的，也许他会因此多去帮助他人的。只要人人都能互相帮助，快乐，便会不请自来，这便是“赠人玫瑰，手有余香”吧。

雷锋精神，很简单，只要你尽自己的力，伸出援助之手，或是一个微不足道的动作，有时候，仅仅是对一个沮丧的人露出微笑，也能让对方感到温暖，能使很多的人得到方便、快乐甚至是拯救。

大家的帮助就像阳光，即使在阴冷的雨天也会让让彼此的心里阳光灿烂，让我们感到别样的温暖。希望每个人都能成为这别样的一道阳光，那样天天都会是晴空万里的。

A funny thing happened during the summer vacation.
