Leviathan, Or The Whale, traces British author Philip Hoares fascination with the marine mammal, which he calls "a living thing past our comprehension".

Low-carbon Life

Low-carbon life is good for everyone. To help with the environment，I always walk or ride a bike to school instead of taking a car. Besides，I will try to use things that can be recycled and I never forget to turn off the lights when I leave the classroom. I think it‘s my duty to live a low-carbon life. The Great Wall of China is called the "Ten thousand Ii Great Wall" in Chinese. In fact, it s more than 6 000 kilometres long. It winds its way from west to east, across deserts, over mountains, through valleys till at last it reaches the sea. It is one of the wonders of the world.

I am a shy girl, when my teachers ask me the questions, I will always low

down my head and answer them with small voice. Because of my character, I miss

the chances to make myself stand out and I also don’t have many friends. I

want to be part of the group. So I force myself to join the class activities, I

去年的暑假，爸爸妈妈妹妹和我一起去北京玩，俗话说：“不到长城非好汉”我和妹妹便和爸爸妈妈一起兴冲冲地去爬长城，远远望去，八达岭长城好似一条巨龙，盘绕在一座座巍峨的青山的山头，我们四个人二话没说，开始了攀登长城之旅。

长城长啊，在我的视线跃过了十几个山头之外，那绵延弯转的长城还是没有到尽头，好似在千里之外，还有那长城隐隐约约的影子。我和妹妹按捺不住和爸爸们一起的速度，开始在长城上比赛跑步，打算一口气冲到终点。刚开始我还觉得长城虽然是长，但是像我这样的速度，也应该是不成问题吧!可是，好景不长，我和妹妹爬了一会儿就累得气喘吁吁，长城难爬呀!

那弯弯曲曲的道路，那忽上忽下的斜坡，那参差不奇的台阶，一不小心就成了我们脚下的绊脚石，害得我差点一个趔趄把妹妹推下长城，好险!终于，在我们的各项运动指标都达到极限之后，我再也迈不出一步了，只能蹲下身，大口大口地喘气，心里一边想：这么长的长城，又这么难爬，到底什么时候才能爬完啊，忽听一旁有个小贩对着一个游客说，从这儿到山顶啊，大概还要两个小时吧!什么!两个小时，这无疑是给我们当头一棒，我再也走不动了，心中仅有的自信也如洪水决堤般瞬间崩塌，全线瓦解，看着远处如此秀美的山川，都仿佛在嘲笑我的渺小，我不认输!我打起精神，脑袋里不断地告诉自己，“不到长城非好汉!”，好汉可不是这么容易当的呀，我拉起妹妹的手，迈出了艰难而又坚定的一步，重整旗鼓向前走去。

在奋斗了两个多小时之后，我们终于站在了长城的顶峰，在到达终点的那一刻，我的心一震，旁边的小贩问我们要不要合影留念，我说不用了。我翻越了长城，超越了自己心中的那座长城，是我的信心支持着我走完了世界上最难走的长城，我要让长城变成我心中最长，最牢固的自信!不论多困难，多艰苦，有自信就是成功的基石，一块块自信的基石砌在一起，那就是我心中的长城，不论风吹雨打，都无坚不摧的长城!

记得上个暑假，我参观了祖国有名的八达岭长城。

那是一个阳光明媚的天气，一只只鸟在枝头欢唱，四周的大树郁郁葱葱，白云飘着，向我们微笑，太阳露出笑脸，连树木也伸出“手”来，欢迎我们的到来。我陶醉在这么美的景色中。突然，“嘣”一声，车停住了，原来到达目的地了，我们高兴地手舞足蹈。下了车，只见长城矗立在山上，看那长城，多像一条盘旋着的龙，再看那山脉，多像一片绿色的云啊!眼前的一切就像一条龙腾云驾雾在高空之中。

进了巨龙的长“尾巴”，只见一座座大石块矗立在长城中，许多游客都站在大石块上拍照，我也去拍了几张。拍完照后，我们继续向前走去，来到了“龙的腹部”。这里热闹非凡，从刚才我就发现，砖块上刻着许多字，例如：×××到此一游、我是长城的创造者等等。我情不自禁地感叹：长城是祖国的宝，为什么人们那么肆意破坏自己最爱的宝呢，为什么人们不爱护祖国的长城呢?这可是长城哇，是古人用汗水和生命建造出来的，为什么不保护它呢?

这次的参观，让我懂了：要珍惜别人的劳动成果。

Youth is not just a stage of life, but it is also a state of mind. Being

young is so great and also the most cherrish moment in a life, as young men have

more energy and power to move forwards. Once we grow up more, we might lose

enthusiasm to propell our expectation. Nowadays, young men are looking for a job

to work. Work provides money to support our living and meaning of a life.

However, There are some young men who do not work, but the world is not proud of

Last Sunday I went to Yang Ming Shan Park with my parents.It was a sunny day.There were trees and flowers all over the place.The trees were tall and pretty and the flowers smelled sweet.

Once, I talked to the foreign people, he was staring at me all the time,

which made me feel not comfortable, so I chose to avoid his eyes and kept a

little distance from him. When I talked about this problem to my foreign

teacher, she told me that it was natural for them to look at you during

communication, which meant respect. While in China, people do the opposite

All of the performances were impressive, but the most interesting one was Sail on Cloud. During that programme, 180 performers were hung in the air to dance. How wonderful it was! Every audience burst out praise. I couldn’t help shouting. But it was a pity that I just watched it from TV. How I wish I were there!

I did very bad in the mid-term exams two weeks ago. After that, my life

seemed to be so dark and hard. My parents felt disappointed to me, and they

always told me to study during my free time. I couldnt watch TV for more than

half an hour and I couldnt search the Internet or play games. Besides, I feel

depressed and I almost lost my heart. But yesterday, my friend came to see me.

She knew I was not happy. She encouaged me that nothing is impossible. If I

could try hard from now on, I would do good in my study. Where there is a will,

there is a way. Only confidence and hardwork can pull me out from failure. If I

want to be good as before, I have to let this failure go and restart again.
