It is not a piece of sensational news; it is a fact, a harsh reality. Unfortunately, we may not see these animals in the near future.

From the second picture, we can find some reasons. Why is the number of animal species declining year by year? Apparently animals have become victims of fashion industry. Animal skin has been used to make fashionable clothes and these clothes sell at a high price. So some greedy people begin to kill animals in a large quantity. This irresponsible behavior not only breaks the balance of nature but also endangers the living environment of human beings.

As far as I am concerned, something must be done to stop this illegal action. We believe "no buying, no killing". First, we must make concerning laws to protect these animals in danger. Second, we must take some measures to protect animals effectively. Animals are our friends and part of our environment. 爱护树木，人人有责

——读《山河之书》之《我本是树》有感

窗外雨淅淅沥沥地下着，这时，看书便是一件惬意的事。我找来找去，一本《山河之书》引入眼帘，似乎正是我要寻找的宝贝。哇，黑色的封面显得既神秘又隆重。《山河之书》，听这名字，多么气势磅礴，我迫不及待地打开书本，一下子被里面的内容吸引住了。

本书的作者余秋雨不追逐高官厚禄，毅然孤身一人冒着危险去考察我国重要遗址和文明故地，实在令人佩服。他的书也同样散发着伟大的气息，不禁让人拍案叫绝。此书主要讲了余秋雨考察各地后引发了一些感想，并发表了对古今事物的赞扬与批判。

本书分好几个章节，每个章节又细分成几部分。其中最吸引我的是《我本是树》这一章。它主要讲了苗族人作为蚩尤的后代崇拜枫树，爱护树木，人树合一。这里的人出生时，父母为他种一棵树，死后，村人砍下树，用树皮裹着遗体埋葬，再在上面种一棵树。因此，在这里，人即是树，树即是人，人树合一，人们怎能不爱护树？

“生也一棵树，死也一棵树。”这林中的树，是苗寨人的证婚人；这林中的树，就是苗寨人自己。这种朴素的想法和做法，留下了一片净土，酿造了一片绿荫，吐出了新鲜的空气，净化了数代人的心灵。

如果我们每个人脑海里都有如此想法，世界该是多么美好，树木该是多么高大，沙尘暴、泥石流、龙卷风也许就从此销声匿迹。

记得小的时候，小区里到处可见那美丽的粉豆花，它形似喇叭，夜晚开放，好像一个俏皮可爱的小号手在吹奏着美妙的音乐。我和妹妹经常摘下它的花朵，在花托处轻轻折一下，再轻轻一拉，一条细长的花丝便跟着花托出来了，然后将它挂在两侧的耳朵上，简直就是一对修长的耳环，真是漂亮极了。有时一不小心折断了花丝，或时间长了，花朵蔫了就将它随手扔到一边，不闻不问。那时我可曾想到花朵的痛苦；可曾听到折断它纤长的身躯时，她伤心哭泣的声音；可曾看到将它丢落一旁时，它孤独的眼泪。

如果它是我们的同类，如果它就是我们身边的人，如果他就是我自己。我真想问问自己，我还下的去手吗？

美丽的、可爱的、可亲的生命，就这样，因为我的私心，因为我的一己私欲结束了。从此，便再也见不到它那婀娜的身姿，再也闻不到它那宜人的清香，再也不能听着它那优美的歌声入睡。

“十年树木，百年树人”。可见树木从一棵小树苗成长为一棵参天大树，是多么的不容易。一朵花要经历播种，发芽，开花，结果等阶段，是多么的艰辛。请爱护花草树木，以树为人，以人为树，到时我岂不是成了“周树人”？

随着时代的变化，人们越来越不重视生活的环境了，大量的破坏森林，砍伐树木。这一种做法很不对，如果没有了树，我们无法生存下去，因为大家都知道，花草树木也跟随人一样需要呼吸。人每天需要氧气0·75公斤，放出二氧化碳0·9公斤，而植物却恰恰相反，一亩树木经过光合作用，每天能“生产”氧气94公斤，“回收”二氧化碳67公斤。植物不但能够净化空气，还能够过滤尘土。有的城市每年每平方公里降尘量达500吨，有的甚至达到1000吨，绿叶能把空气中尘土阻拦在叶面下，真是当之无愧的空气“过滤器”。

让我们一起来植树造林吧！树木对我们大家的环境很有帮助，如果全世界每一个人都植一棵树的话，那整个地球就会变成一片树的海洋，人类的空气一定会非常清新。如果树木就这样确下去的话，或许在几十年以后，我们的这个美丽的地球也会成为一个光秃秃的“糟老头”，那我们的子孙后代该怎么办？

还有水是生命的摇篮，地球上的任何生命都离不开水。地球上的水资源本来就是有限的，可是长期以来，人们只知道索取，而不懂得去珍惜，甚至污染和破坏宝贵的水资源，使得可供人类利用的水日益匮乏起来。就拿我们这里的浦阳江来说吧，本来它的水也是很干净的，现在因为它被污染了，所以要从很远的陈蔡水库去提龋

可以看出，绿化环境、保护环境有多么重要。

"Protect the environment, everyone duty", when it comes to protecting the environment, I think of a thing.

Its a sunny afternoon, my mother and I happily went downstairs for a walk, inadvertently, I found on the green lawn with an old, dirty battery. Battery is harmful to our environment a major killer! “保护环境，人人有责”，说到保护环境，我就想起了一件事。

这是一个阳光明媚的中午，我和妈妈高高兴兴地下楼散步，无意中，我发现在绿油油的草坪上有一个废旧的、脏兮兮的电池。电池可是危害我们生存环境的一大杀手!一粒小小的钮扣电池可污染600立方米水，相当于一个人一生的饮水量;一节一号电池烂在地里，能使一平方米的土地失去利用价值，并造成永久性公害。想到这，我跑到妈妈跟前把这件事儿说了一遍，我又说：“妈妈，我想把废电池扔到垃圾箱里。”妈妈觉得我说得很有道理，我欢快地跑到废电池旁边，心想：我真是做了一件有意义的事啊!我轻轻地捡起废电池，扔进了垃圾箱里。

“勿以善小而不为，勿以恶小而为之。”作为一名小学生，我们要从我做起，从小事儿做起，从身边做起，从现在做起，捡起地上每一片纸屑，爱护花草树木，关爱小动物。让我们一起去寻找绿的世界，让我们的世界变得更加美好!

Protecting the Environment

In the last several decades, our earth has been extremely polluted, such as air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and so on. In recent years, the extreme weather becomes more and more frequent. Winter gets colder and summer becomes hotter and it rains more frequently. All of these warn us that protecting the environment is a serious and emergent event. As our general people, we should build proper lifestyle. We should pay attention to water and light saving. When we go out, we should firstly choose the public transportation. The most important is that we must realize that we can do a lot of things to protect our environment. Its our duty to make our home better. Let’s change from ourselves.

[初中英语作文及翻译：保护环境

前，有一片茂密的树林，许多动物和植物都很好的生活在一起。可有一天，森林里出现了一些卡车，一些人类和一些奇怪的东西—斧头和电锯。

又过了几年，这里已经荒无人烟了，树林里的一切东西都枯萎了，动物都搬家了，成了一个沙尘暴常来的地方。

其实啄木鸟所说的虫不是真正的虫而是人们心中的贪婪。
