古人云：“读书学礼。”读书的另一个好处呢，就是为了培养人们品德高尚，知书达礼。英国培根曾说：“书籍是在时代的波涛中航行的思想之船，它以小心翼翼把珍贵的货物送给一代又一代。”古代名人们的优良传统思想，如敬老爱幼、珍惜时间、不耻下问等，都被后人记载在书中，自然，读了它，领悟其中的道理，能应用，就将成为一个道德高尚的人。不管是中国还是外国，都出过不少名人，而这些名人的故事，他们的勤奋、刻苦，也都编成了是。一读，多少也对自己有所影响。

虽说读书的好出之多，但再好，世上不爱读书的人还有很多。如我表哥，自幼厌学，如今到了工作年龄，却由于书读得很少，四处碰壁，找不到工作，后悔也来不及了。真是“书到用是方恨少，事非经过不知难。”
