However, nowadays a large number of people, especially the young, are unwilling to or cannot spend their times in reading classics. There are some reasons accounting for the phenomenon and I would like to state two of them. For one thing, people are distracted by other things increasingly, which can give their more joy and fun and have no requirement in thinking, such as all kinds of entertainment activities. For another, some people think that it is no use of reading classics because these classics are outdated and useless to our society and lives.

A few years ago, I went to Beijing. I really had a great time there.

The first time I went to Beijing, I was very confused. Beijing was very

big. It was so big that I couldn’t find the right directions. And the traffic

was always so busy.

During my staying in Beijing, I visited so many places of interest, such as

the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, and so

on. I also went to Wangfujing shopping mall. But things were very expensive. So

I just did the window shopping.

What’s more, the most exciting thing for me was taking the underground.

Although it was crowded, I still felt excited. Because I could follow the steps

Once at the Lowood School, Jane finds that her life is far from idyllic. The school’s headmaster is Mr. Brocklehurst, a cruel, hypocritical, and abusive man. Brocklehurst preaches a doctrine of poverty and privation to his students while using the school’s funds to provide a wealthy and opulent lifestyle for his own family. despite i‘ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i‘ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it‘s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very complex. ―i‖, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612. the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

on his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the sahara, on the earth.

traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. at that time a fox appears. the fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word ―tame‖, becomes his new friend. at the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. from that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. i seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before. well, now i can say, with my short sixteen-year‘s life experience, it‘s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. the little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers. nevertheless, when i read this book, i feel a little sad – about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence.

初中毕业，家里无力送我升学，不得不辍学谋生。因为读书少，对读书人无比敬仰，觉得他们很高大、很了不起。长大了些，才渐渐知道，许多人用心刻苦读书，是因为读书有许多好处。联系实际集中宣讲这好处、并且讲得明明白白的首推宋朝的皇帝宋真宗赵恒，他专门写过《励学篇》：

富家不用买良田，书中自有千钟粟。

安居不用架高堂，书中自有黄金屋。

娶妻莫恨无良媒，书中自有颜如玉。

出门莫恨无人随，书中车马多如簇。

男儿欲遂平生志，五经勤向窗前读。

按史家的说法，宋承五代长期的战乱，一般人都不喜欢读书，书读得好的就更少。大宋皇朝要大量起用文臣，必须一方面广开读书人登仕的途径，一方面竭力提倡读书的风气。宋真宗御笔亲作的《励学篇》，就是用来诱导大家读书的。效果还真不错，篇幅不长，言简意赅，从切身的利益，总结了读书的种种好处。传布天下，忽悠了天下士子者几近千年。“千钟粟”“黄金屋”“颜如玉”“多如簇”，还有比这更大的诱惑吗？

古人用功读书的故事，书读得好当了大官、发了大财，荣华富贵、耀祖光宗的故事，多如牛毛，举不胜举，这些故事代代相传，可以让人的耳朵听得起茧。然而，在现实生活中，尽管并不缺乏类似的神话，人们也常常看到相反的例子：板荡时世，掌了大权、甚至得了天下的往往不过是草莽英雄，让诗人感叹“坑灰未冷山东乱，刘项原来不读书”；进入近代社会，书读得多、甚至特别多的人，成了“右派”“臭老九”“牛鬼蛇神”，被开除、发配、劳改；时至今日，大学毕业生、哪怕海归的硕士博士好不容易得到聘用的那家企业的老总，发迹之前只有中学、小学学历、甚至大字不识的有的是。宋真宗所言“千钟粟”“黄金屋”“颜如玉”“多如簇”，未必靠谱。

仅就阅读而言，据说今天已进入读图时代。看到一本获得国家最高奖的对《资本论》的讲解读物，竟是一册连环画。真是难为了马克思老先生，当年他为了写这么一部皇皇巨著，把图书馆他座位下的地板都踏出了一个坑。明朝《五人墓碑记》的作者张溥读书的每读必抄，抄完一遍又一遍，以至其书房被称为“七录斋”这样的治学在今天只能是一种笑谈。

My grandmother is a kind-heart granny who is popular among my neighbors.She takes a walk outside every day, so she is familiar with many people.She is so experienced in looking after babies, so some young mothers who have problems would like to ask her for help. My grandmother is always ready to help them.My grandmother loves me very much. She takes care of me since I was a little baby.I have always been taking care of by her, so that I don’t have to worry my life at all.I am so happy to have such a great granny.Now, she is getting old and I want to be the one who can look after her.

travel is beneficial to us in at least three ways.

first, by traveling we can enjoy the beautiful scenery in different places. we will see with our own eyes many places read of in books, and visit some famous cities and scenic spots.

second, we will meet people with different interests and see strange and different things when we travel. we can get ideas of the conditions and customs of other people, taste different foods and local flavours if we like. in this way, we can understand how differently other people live.

third, travel will not only help us to gain knowledge of geography and history and other knowledge, which will arouse our deeplove :for our m0therland, but also will help us keep healthy and make us less narrow-minded. travel does benefit us both mentally and physically.

with all these advantages of travel, it is no wonder that travel has now become more popular than ex‘er in china.

The Lunar New Year is a great occasion to the Chinese people。 It lasts about  the first four days of the year， during which people do not work except for the  workers on duty。 Students do not go to school， and shops are dosed。

Several days before the new year， people begin to prepare。 Farmers kitt pigs，  sheep， cocks and hens。 City dwellers buy meat fish and vegetables。 Houses are  cleaned couplets are posted on the doors。 Colourful lanterns are hung at the  gate。

On the eve of the new year， each family has its members gatherd together and  eats a family reunion dinner。 After the meal they watch TV until the clock  strickes twelve。 Then every family sets off long strings of small firecrackers  and other fire works to welcome the new year。 On the first day of the new year，  almost everyone is dressed in his or her best。 When people meet on the way， they  say to each other "Happy New Year"。 Friends and relatives pay new year calls and  gives presents to each other。 Children indulge themselves in games。
