How I Spent My Summer Vacation

I spent this summer vacation in quite a different way.

I used to run about every day in previous summer vacations,this summer vacation I simply could not afford to do so.

I would soon be in the last year of my high-school education would after graduation be up against the college entrance examinations.

Though those examinations were still a year away, I had to start early to make myself well prepared by reviewing all those things I had learned at school this summer vacation was the ideal time for me to do this.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. Far and away the most important holiday in China is Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese New Year. To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. the dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February.

To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Years Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

Nowadays, almost everyone has a mobile phone. Some people even have two or

three. Mobile phones changes our lives a lot. It’s so easy to get to others. All

you have to do is making a call. You can talk to anyone no matter how far you

are. Making calls and texting messages are the basic functions of mobile phones.

But now, we can do a lot of things by mobile phones, such as listening to the

music, watching movies, taking photos, reading books and so on. It’s so

My mother is an English teacher and she likes listening to English radio
