我的弟弟汤姆情不自禁地哈哈大笑：“如果你的同学们听到你整个夏天都浑身沾满牛粪，我担心不会有一个人愿意和你坐在一起的！”

“好了，别说了，汤姆。”爸爸说。

“泰勒，”妈妈一边说一边把绿豆盛进一个碗里，“为我们今年夏天做的事情骄傲吧。没有像你爷爷这样的科学家们，我们的星球会越来越糟的。”

确实，我爷爷所做的工作是很重要的。他研究新能源，研究如何用牛粪生成燃料，并在不断完善生成燃料的方法。将来有一天，用牛粪生成燃料会既容易又经济，还环保。

“我知道，妈妈，”我说，眼睛盯着我的烘肉卷，“不过，人们在吃午饭时可不愿意听你说这个。”

“还有吃晚饭的时候。”爸爸一边说，一边笑。他也在研究他的烘肉卷。

那天晚上，我梦到一些非常有魅力的冒险活动，比如在澳大利亚潜水，在巴西的热带雨林里抓着葡萄藤荡秋千。梦醒后，我翻来覆去难以入睡。

第二天在学校，我弓着身子坐在课桌前，仔细倾听每一位同学的讲话。我的手掌心里汗津津的，我的心也揪得越来越紧。我已经准备好被大家嘲笑了。

“那是我第一次坐船去月亮旅馆和水疗中心。”艾伯说，并以此结束了她的报告。她鞠了个躬，在座位上坐下。

“轮到你了，泰勒。”哈蒙德小姐说。

我猛地深吸一口气，用手紧紧抓住我的微型笔记本电脑，走到教室的前面，清了清嗓门。“今年夏天，我……噢，我……”我的眼睛注视着地板。这是我用一个虚构的冒险活动挽救我的尊严的最后机会了。

接着我想起了爷爷。他是在多么努力地拯救地球呀。“我整个夏天都在收集牛粪。”我突然说道。

我环顾了一下房间。似乎没有人显出厌恶的表情，他们的脸上只有困惑。

我敲打了几下笔记本电脑的键盘，一头奶牛正在吃紫花苜蓿的立体图像出现在教室中间。我继续带领我的同学们进行一次虚拟的旅行，这次旅行以这头牛在牧场上吃草开始，以一位先生在当地的甲烷输气站给他的汽车添加燃料结束。让我感到惊讶的是，我的同学们都听得很投入。

最后，我决定用我爷爷常说的一个粗俗的笑话作结束。“在辛辛苦苦为汽车加了一天燃料之后，一个气泵对另一个气泵说，”说到这里，我停了一下，然后继续说，“我完全拉空了。”

笑声充满了整个房间，中间还夹杂着笑痛肚子的呻吟声。

最后我说：“我想我们一家今年夏天的工作对于燃料绿色化，以及通往深海探险公园的地下特快列车的早日开通有帮助。”

讲完后，我朝全班同学鞠了一个躬。当我向座位上走去的时候，同学们都热烈地鼓起了掌。

坐在我身后的一位男同学拍了拍我的肩膀。“嗨，我叫乔希，”他说，“暑假的时候，我们全家开车八小时去看望我的姑奶奶。如果你们的燃料计划研制成功的话，我们就绿色多了。”说到这里，他哈哈大笑。“还有，我们有几个同学放学后会踢足球。你愿意参加吗？”

谁会想到我在新学校交到第一批朋友要感谢我的爷爷和我的满身粪便的暑假呢――我的意思是说，是我的令人难以置信的拯救地球的冒险行动！
