The joyous Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on the fifteenth day of the

eighth moon, around the time of the autumn equinox(秋分). Many referred to it

simply as the "Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon".

This day was also considered as a harvest festival since fruits, vegetables

and grain had been harvested by this time and food was abundant. Food offerings

Chang-Er，his beautiful wife， could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty，an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zang was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message. When the cake was opened and the message read，an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon，which，some say，explains why mooncakes are eaten at this time. Mooncakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the bakery and the type of filling used. Some bakeries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalised ones to friends and family. They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional mooncakes are made with melted lard，but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health. Mooncakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology

(NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During

the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among

the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I

got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission

test.

At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5%

in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is

Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the

ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university.

Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of

Excellent Graduation Thesis.

Research experience and academic activity

When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to

narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and

Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It

is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled

a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This

was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and

experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research

interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research

(especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid

system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

I will soon become a middle school student, which means my life will come

to a new chapter. So I must do something different to make me stronger. I want

to be more independent, so I can make my own decision. As my parents always make

decisions for me, I want to tell them that I have grown up. From now on, I

should learn to take care of myself, such as washing clothes and helping my

mother with the house work. The most important thing is to finish my homework

without my parents supervision. I am so excited about my new life and I believe

that I can become a better person.

This weekend, there was an art festival in our school, it had been hold for

five years and the school insisted to make it become the feature. I was so

excited, this was the first time for me to join. Early in the morning, I saw

there were so many people coming to the campus, making the campus so lively. The

students dressed so well and gave the warm welcome to the guests. I walked

around and appreciated the painting, every work was drawn by the students, I was

A good test for this value is to look at what I call the Integrity Trial,

which consists of three key principles: Stand firmly for your convictions in the

face of personal pressure.

When you know youre right, you cant back down. Always give others credit

that is rightfully theirs. Dont be afraid of those who might have a better idea

or who might even be smarter than you are. Be honest and open about who you

really are. People who lack genuine core values rely on external factors--their

looks or status---in order to feel good about themselves. Inevitably they will

do everything they can to preserve this facade,but they will do very little to

develop their inner value and personal growth.

So be yourself. Dont engage in a personal cover-up of areas that are

unpleasing in your life. When its tough, do it tough. In other words, face

reality and be adult in your responses to lifes challenges.

Self-respect and a clear conscience are powerful components of integrity

and are the basis for enriching your relationships with others.

Integrity means you do what you do because its right and not just

fashionable or politically correct. A life of principle, of not succumbing to

the seductive sirens of an easy morality,will always win the day. My

grandparents taught me that.
