令人难忘的第一次并不一定是快乐的，感觉犹如刚出炉的面包，散发着诱人的香味，又犹如道路上的一个红色警示牌，时刻提醒着路上的人们不要再犯同样的错误。

我的第一次的感觉是那的时刻在我心中，记得那诗火山级暑假爸爸带我去补课，楼上有一个舞蹈班，那时我就开始想要学舞蹈，就让爸爸给我报了名，报名过后一个可亲的阿姨就带我去换衣服。露背的上衣，红色斜短裙接着她把我带到教室门口，那时我又兴奋又激动却迟迟不敢开门进去，终于我下定决心要去开门，一个身材直挺的叔叔突然走了出来吓了我一跳，原来他是去上厕所。他看到了我把我带进了教室，里面都是和我服装相似的人，我一进去，她们都看着我，我害羞了起来。

以后的几天里，我开始慢慢讨厌跳舞，觉得老师和同学一直在笑话我，老师想让我出丑：第二天的时候，老师让我们跳步子，我不知道啊？老师又让我们一个一个的跳，我不会呀！就一直跟着别人练，我是现学的，本想不用挑，可是老师再三要求我跳，我就跳了。这跳的是什么呀？老师笑着跟我说我跳的像是在抓鱼，大家都笑了起来，我的心里难受极了。后来我才知道老师和同学不是有意笑我，是为了让我记住，不再犯错。

这就是我的第一次，难忘的第一次，给我了教育的第一次。

赛龙舟开始了，每只龙舟都像一支离弦的箭，一个劲的向前冲，每只龙舟的速度都不分上下：一会儿红色1号，不一会儿蓝色8号又追上了。突然，划船手好像力气大增，每一只龙舟的速度更快了。这时，击鼓手开始鸣鼓了，划船手顿时很有节奏的跟着喊起：“咚!咚!咚咚咚!嗬!嗬!嗬嗬嗬。”天公也好像来助威，开始下起了毛毛细雨。真是鼓声!人声!助威声!

龙舟的速度越来越快，仿佛龙群在江水中急速飞腾。渐渐的，渐渐的。1号，5号9号构成了集团。100米!50米!20米终点越来越近，只见5号的力量一发不可收拾的爆发了!把后面的两条龙舟远远地甩在后面，然后冲线了!

通过这次赛龙舟比赛，让我明白只有团结合作、坚持不懈，永不放弃才会取得胜利!

屈原是战国时期出国人，很有学问。他在楚王身边做官，以形象是自己的国家富强起来。昏君楚王却听信奸臣的话，把屈原削职流放。在流放中，屈原听说楚国的都城被敌人占领，百姓遭难，悲愤极了。五月初五这一天，他来到汨罗江边，怀抱一块石头，以纵身跳入汨罗江中。出国的百姓听到屈原投江的消息，都十分悲痛。他们含着泪划着船赶来打捞屈原，还把粽子扔到江里喂鱼，希望鱼儿不要伤害屈原的身体。这就是五月端阳包粽子的来历。

端午节最不可少的，自然是粽子，每年端午节外婆和大家都会包上几百个大粽子呢!包粽子虽然有很多种，比如芦苇叶、竹笋叶、菰叶、藕叶等。但我们的家乡是芦苇比较多，所以大多都用芦苇叶包了。首先，外婆“率兵”去采芦苇叶。采芦苇叶时，一大家子听着外婆的劳动号子：“加油!一个粽子三片叶子!上百个粽子几千片，嘿哟，加油!”听了“将军”的鼓劲，“小兵”们更加卖力了!采完芦苇叶，现在只要将它们暴晒就行了。但准备材料可没有这么简单哟，还得去集市上买来上好的红豆、猪肉、花生、板粟、蜜枣与糯米，还要买红线呢!

当然，最好玩的时候还是包粽子的时候。包粽子时，男人负责把肉切成不大不小的块儿;女人负责洗红豆、糯米之类的;小孩负责把大盆洗干净，再把大人加工好的东西装在大盆里;而老人们则负责指挥。一切准备好之后，就开始包粽子了。大人们干得格外卖力，而小孩们呢?却在一旁玩着，总是在大人们不注意时，偷一两颗蜜枣往嘴里塞，表面上似乎一点儿事都没做，可心里却暗暗自喜——因为蜜枣太好吃了!

最后一步就是煮粽子，烧火的外公总是把火候把握的很好，味道很香、很浓，如果在第一时间内吃粽子，你看到的肉粽子总是嫩地流油，看到的蜜枣粽子总是金黄柔嫩;看到的八宝粽子总是很可口，我们可爱吃了。

去年，要不是为了去盐城替舅舅、舅妈照顾表哥，外公外婆可能在包粽子哩。我突然有些“厌恶”舅舅、舅妈，他们家的经济条件不错，为什么不找个保姆?把我的欢乐端午节和粽子都“夺走了”，我好生气呀!也好怀念那味香色美的粽子呀!

Thanks for your last letter. Im so glad that you have been able (at last! ) to arrange a holiday in Australia. As I fear I wont be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive, nor will I be able to be home until later in the afternoon, so here are some instructions and suggestions.

There is a bus from the airport to the city. It is much cheaper than a cab. Take the bus to the city and ask to get off at Town Hall railway station.

To get to my place in the eastern suburbs you have three options. You can either take a cab, a bus or the train. I suggest you take the train, since the airport bus will leave you right at the station. Get off at Cliff Station. From there you can either walk to my place (about ten minutes) or take a taxi. Probably you should take a taxi as you will have luggage.

When you arrive at my flat, ring the intercom for Flat 2. My friend Lillian will be at home and she will open the front door for you and let you into my flat.

Presumably you will be tired and want to sleep. But if you feel like some exercise after that long flight, you could stroll down to Cooper Park, which is only ten minutes away ? you can see it from the window.

新年降临了，人们都喜气洋洋，乐得合不拢嘴，瞧!一大清早，妈妈就已经忙不可开交了。我好奇问妈妈：“妈妈你干什么呀？“过年了，要除尘迎新嘛。”我说：“除尘迎新，这词真有趣!”原来，还有一个除尘迎新习俗啊!

到了新年晚上，爸爸急急忙忙打开了电视，开始欣赏春节联欢晚会带来节目，正吃饭爷爷、奶奶、妈妈和姑姑都把头向后转去，对着电视机。我家春节必做事，就是看春节联欢晚会。奶奶说：春节联欢晚会代表着国家强大，所以必看。

除了以上习俗外，我还知道一个绕口令：初一汤圆，初二面，初三饺子。初四之后初五、初六、初七什么都可以随便吃。我们重庆有一个比较奇怪习俗，就是初一不准花钱，至于为什么，我也不知道。估计是想要发财吧!

其实，要说过年习俗，我家乡还有个习俗还有初一不能扫地和倒垃圾，初二开始要亲戚家轮流拜年等等。还有一个比较重要习俗，就是到了元宵节正月十五这天晚上，灯一定要亮，家家要吃汤圆，寓意团圆。

上面三大习俗，都是重庆人必做，如果你不是重庆人，你也可以学习一下以上三大习俗。

元宵节一过也就意味着春节结束了，人们开始新一年工作。

今天我和几个同学以及我们的爸爸妈妈一起去光瑞美好乡村过端午节。一进乡村大门，眼前两条路，都是用木头条搭的，路两旁的护栏也是木头条，顺着大门左边的木头通道走了一会儿，右边出现一大块金黄的麦地，此时麦子已成熟，金黄金黄的，这让我想起一首歌《风吹麦浪》。沿着木头通道继续走了一会儿，右拐进一木头通道，通道左下方有三个大笼子，其中一个里面关着四只肥大的兔子。我拔些野草，它们争着抢着吃。笼子前方是一个蔬菜大棚，里面种的全是玉米，高高的杆上已结了玉米穗。房子也用木头条搭建，就一层。屋里大小大概跟自己家客厅的大小差不多，摆有俩沙发、一张床、一个茶几、一对木凳，角落里还有个小木桌，往里走有一间小小的厨房和一间超小的厕所，墙上挂着电视，可以看。

屋外有个小院，小院被木桥分隔成二个地方，稍小那块摆了一个双人吊椅，吊椅对面是大太阳伞，伞下有一个木头桌。稍大那块有一个大遮阳棚，下面有一张长方形大桌，能够围坐十几人。

我们放下行李，返回大门口，放眼望去，乡村到处都是同学家那种小木屋。顺着主道往前走。主道像小桥，桥下左右两边是小木屋，屋前地面铺着一层假草坪，草坪上竖着个大遮阳伞，伞下是大木头圆桌或小木桌和一些藤椅，还有鸟巢一样的吊椅。再往前走，进入的木头屋是总服务台，穿过去又走上木头桥，桥下右边棚下有个很大的整套的石磨，石磨上有面粉，我推着石磨上的木棍感受了下驴拉磨磨面感觉，感觉挺轻的。接着往前走，左右两边有个带顶棚的长廊，廊里有好多休闲桌椅，用来喝茶聊天休息。再往前走，一大片绿草坪上有几个底色是白色的蒙古包，很漂亮。总之，我们进入了一个木头的世界，木头房子木头路，木头桌子木头椅，这里的一切设施基本都用的木头条，感觉很像我们小时候拼的木头玩具一样，只不过是放大版的。除了木头，就是到处铺着绿草坪，一派田园风光。

回到同学家的小木屋，和同学们一起吃烧烤，吃粽子，玩三国杀，玩抓人……

这个地方真美，我们玩的不亦乐乎，今年过了一个别样的端午节。

在所有章节里最让我悲伤的片段是锄的牺牲，这个锄是谁?其实，他不过是茫军中的一名士兵，可作者为什么要把他的牺牲写的这么详细呢?原来，锄是茫王的贴身侍卫，但是，他和茫王可是结义金兰，两人就像亲兄弟似得，在无人时，他俩根本没有君臣关系，但在一次攻城中，锄壮烈牺牲，而茫王当时眼睁睁地看着他被射死。读到这里，我的脑中浮现出当时的景象，心里难受极了。

而在整个书中最让我感动的地方却与战争无关。在一个村子里有一位父亲，他的歌声非常动听，而他女儿的歌声也极其悦耳。可是有一群巫师却想剥夺他们的声音，在一次抓捕中，这位伟大的父亲为了保护自己五岁的女儿璇，最终不幸离世。女儿璇，被一名大山里的老人收养。读到这里，我非常感动。尤其是这种浓浓的父爱，他让我懂得了：无论是谁，都会用自己的生命来保护自己的儿女。

不过书中最让我愤怒的，竟是正义的茫王，他为了能听到璇那美妙的声音，连自己的君王形象都不顾了，他宁愿做一名牧羊人，也要与璇在一起，有段时间，他竟然将王袍丢弃，失落的出走，这一切都是为了寻找到璇。这让我很气愤，我觉得，他丧失了作为王者的风范，不能因为一些逆境使之成为邋里邋遢的人!

这本书使我受益匪浅，也让我非常难忘，让我懂得了逆境和苦难会铺就王者之路，忧伤和痛苦能点亮生命之光，建议同学们也来阅读《母石头》。

生存，这两个看似普通的字眼，却包含了无数深刻的哲理。遇到地震时被埋在废墟下，家里没关好煤气，煤气漏气了，被陌生人拐骗了该如何逃出去。这不是都要学会生存，学会自我保护吗？

这是我从电视中看到的新闻：赵小锐是山东省的一名五年级学生，放暑假了，他和同学们参加了生物夏令营。来到大森林，他看什么都感到新鲜，突然间，他发现了一只美丽的大蝴蝶，他想也没想，拿起捕虫网就朝蝴蝶追过去，不知过了多长时间，赵小锐如愿以偿地捉住了大蝴蝶。但是，他看不到一个同学，也没听到同学们的谈笑声。他知道自己迷路了，他慌了，但还是努力地回想老师对他所说的话：“在森林中迷路时，千万不要惊慌，一定要冷静……”赵小锐定了定神，做了几个深呼吸，给自己制定了一个方案，先观察周围的地形地貌，找到自己的脚印，最后顺着小路找到同学，根据这一个方案，他找到了自己的脚印，然后又顺着脚印找到了森林的小路，慢慢地，他听见了老师同学焦急的呼喊声。顺着声音，他找到了老师和同学们，情不自禁的扑到了老师的怀里。赵小锐靠着生存的欲望，走出了大森林。

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

has been celebrated since the old China. Firstly, it is to in honor of the great

poet Qu Yuan, who jumped into the water and ended his life for loving the

country. Nowadays, different places have different ways to celebrate.

In my hometown, there will be a traditional competition, that is the dragon

boat race. People make up the team and fight for the honor. Every boat looks

like the dragon and it is the most obvious feature. A lot of people will come to

visit or watch the match. Then the game begins. The audience will cheer for the

teams and the competitors try their best to make the boat go fast. It is very

lively.

Besides the competition, eating the traditional food zongzi is favored by

everyone. For me, it is very delicious. My grandma makes the best zongzi. She

has the special recipe and it fits my stomach. So every time I go back hometown,

my grandma will make it for me.

In other places, drinking the special wine and hanging the leaf are also

the tradition. The preserve of the traditional festival makes our culture

profound.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to apply for a British Council scholarship to study in Britain. I did my five years basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the Peoples General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic.

As a result of the publication in 2003 of my article in New Scientist entitled "Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses ", which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients.

Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.

I enclose a detailed curriculum vitae and an offprint of my article, together with two letters of recommendation from Dr. Li Ming and Dr. Ma Li.

在懵懂的小时候，我是父母掌上的“小公主”，有什么事他们说，我照做就是了。但是，我那时有个坏习惯，那就是偷听父母讲话。有一次，我听到爸爸对妈妈说：“我们的孩子也不小了，你总是帮她做事，那她以后还怎么独立呀!”听到这话，我当时心里就想：爸爸，我一定会自己做事的。正巧，第二天下雪，妈妈说要送我去学校，我说不用了，让爸爸陪我去。

刚开始自己还在雪地里走得很好，可是后来越来越糟，一直在雪地里摔跤，我都慢慢爬起，可是最后一次，我摔倒了，用求助的眼神看着爸爸，而爸爸却严肃地站在雪地里，用鼓励的眼神望着我，那眼神仿佛在说，孩子，没事的，站起来。我明白了，我又想起爸爸对妈妈说的话，我慢慢地爬起，看到爸爸已伸出手，我也把手伸给他，他握着我的手，心里暖暖的。我懂了，爸爸的眼神还告诉我，当我遇到困难时，一定要自己克服困难，坚强爬起。

我渐渐长大了，走进校园，我在我们班上认识了很多同学。记得有一次美术课，我画画的时候，同学丽走了过来。她不小心将颜料洒在了我的画和衣服上，她连忙地我道歉：“对不起，你的衣服脏了，我帮你洗!”我生气地问她：“那样的话，就算你帮我画，我也不要。

”说着，也把我的颜料泼到了她的身上。又过了几天，我们学校体检，我吐水的时候，感觉好像吐在了什么东西上。我抬头一看，原来是丽的体检表上，我浑身直冒冷汗，心想：我上次那么对她，她会拿水吐我吗?想到这儿，我感觉太恐怖了。没想到，她却说：“没事，体检表而已，我们还是好朋友!”“好朋友”三个字如铁锤一样重重地击在我心上，我突然发现，原来我是那么的小气。但是，丽的话语，也使我明白：我们应宽容待人。

在成长的道路上，我们一步一步走过，留下了一个个脚印，在这些脚印中，我们明白了做人的道理。

成长，使我们从懵懂变得成熟了;成长，使我们从依赖变得独立了;成长，使我们从小气变得得宽容!

中国的传统节日有很多，春节、七夕节、清明节、元宵节，但最让我喜欢的还是五月初五的端午节。

听别人说端午节是为了纪念伟大的爱国诗人屈原而设定的。一大早，我就被一阵阵热闹的声音给吵醒了，哎!我不得不离开温暖的被窝了。换上新衣服，发现妈妈从锅里拿出了一堆粽子，热腾腾，一股糯香直往鼻孔里钻，勾起了我的小馋虫，这才想起来今天是端午节呢!

吃过早点，我来到屋外，大人们都在忙碌着，我猜测他们一定是在准备赛龙舟。我赶紧来到水边看比赛。“加油!加油!”一阵阵加油声传进了我的耳朵。只见选手们奋力地划着船桨，有节奏的鼓声令人振奋，他们你不让我，我不让你，居然打成了平手呢!

晚上，我把自己在下午做的小纸船拿出来了，再把它带到江边，拿出蜡烛把它点燃，放到小纸船里。这么多的船灯，把黑漆漆的夜晚照得像白天似的。然而，这更加体现出了端午节夜晚的美丽。我坐在椅子上，一边吃着妈妈包的粽子，一边看成群结队的精致船灯。亮光纷纷，把人们的脸照得发红。我想：“在水里的屈原一定会觉得外面的世界很明亮吧!”

看，端午节多热闹呀!我迫不及待地想过下一个端午节了。

不一会儿，一个个小巧可爱的小粽子在外婆灵巧的双手下诞生了！外婆把裹好的粽子在大锅子里煮起来。过了好一会儿，粽香扑鼻。我馋得口水直流，外婆笑着对我说：“小馋猫，先拿个给你尝尝鲜！”我拿过来，三下五除二地剥掉粽叶，迫不及待吃了起来。我边吃边问妈妈：“这个端午节有什么来历吗？”

妈妈仔细想了想告诉我：“应该是纪念屈原的，屈原是楚国的大诗人，据说他在五月初五那天投汨罗江自尽，死后为蛟龙所困。”还没等妈妈说完，我便又提了一个问题：“那屈原为什么要投江呢？”这问题问的很好！”妈妈摸着我的头说：“因为自己的政治抱负不能实现，楚国小人当权，楚怀王被骗留在秦国当人质，楚国的首都郢被秦军攻克，楚国迁都寿春，在国家被攻克之时，他就愤然投江自尽，以身殉国！”

“哦！原来是这样，那请继续接着讲吧，妈妈！”

“然后，世人听到这个消息都很哀伤。每年于此日投五色粽子于水中，以驱赶蛟龙，有的渔夫还划船捞救，后来就发展成吃粽子，赛龙舟等习俗。后来就把端午节定在农历的五月初五！”

原来端午节还有这样的来历呀！我今天不仅尝到了可口的粽子，还学到了新的知识呢！

Dear Mary,

I am sorry to trouble you, but nobody would come into my mind to help me except you.

You know, I had planned this holiday for several years. A t last, my dream came true. You could imagine how excited I was. My mind was completely occupied with the holiday. I forgot to collect my laundry. I dont know if you can help me collect my laundry. I sent the laundry to the Johns. It is the one down the corner on St. Peters Street. You cant miss it, because the house is painted green-a big green house. I have got two pairs of trousers, three shirts, one T-shirt and a blanket. Call a taxi to send you home. I will pay you back when I am home.

My first stop is London. It is raining. The streets are very clean. How I wish I could have the chance to see the famous London fog. But someone told me that was already the history. One can only read things like that about London in books.
