故事从一只平凡、渺小的海鸥说起。乔纳森是一只不满足于现状的年轻海鸥。他觉得生活不应该仅仅被限定于吃、住、与鸥群争抢这些无谓的事情。于是，他冒着违反群鸥规定而被流放的危险，偷偷去练习高难度的飞翔本领。结果，他还是没能逃此厄运，被逐出了鸥群。

虽然孤零零的独身一人，可这却磨练了他的意志，使他有机会学会了更多的高难度动作。后来，他遇见了两只能帮助他进入更高境界的海鸥，在那里，他成为了长老吉昂的弟子，学会了更重要的东西：他懂得了人的思想是无限的，人是要有追求的。我们不能拘泥于自己只是一个渺小的“人”，更重要的是你必须明确你的梦想，即使它看起来虚无缥缈。

故事继续描写乔纳森，他也收了许多徒弟，耐心地启发、教导他们，要让自己的思想超越身体，直至心灵深处；他教会他们理解与宽容，甚至去包容那些将他们驱逐出境的鸥群们。最后，当徒弟们都学有所成时，老迈的乔纳森却带着幸福感去了另一个世界……

整本书故事不长却耐人寻味，我一口气读完了此书。我想，每个读了这本书的人，都会有同样的感受。一个人不论年龄长幼、容貌美丑，都应该拥有梦想，并且不顾一切地去努力追求。尽管路途上不会一帆风顺，会遇到许多艰难险阻，但是只要坚持，并且相信自己，就一定能实现梦想，获得成功。

眼下，我们正处在小升初的关键时期，每个人都盼望进入自己理想的中学。奥数、英语、作文填满了我们的生活。我不禁感慨起不少的大人们，他们虽然也极力推荐孩子们读古书、读世界名着，但目的往往只是为了应付考试，为了能多考回几分。难道前人留给我们的书籍只是用来背答案的吗？结论当然不是的。

生活离不开书籍，生活更离不开梦想！我希望能有更多的时间读书和思考！就让我们向海鸥乔纳森一样，放开身心去追逐属于我们的梦想吧。
