一心报国的他投奔了河北招抚使张所，张所将他安排在属下都统制王彦手下。这一日，王彦的部队与金军在石门山对峙。谨慎的王彦见金军气势宏大，所以按兵不动。岳飞当众指责王彦说：“敌人就在对面，你却不迎战，你这分明就是想要投降金军的意思。”王彦依然不出战，愤怒的岳飞于是率领自己的部队直接去跟金军交战。虽然打了胜仗，但是他的轻举妄动招来金军的围攻，而且祸及王彦，王彦的整个部队被金军打得七零八落。

第一次上书皇上，年少气盛的岳飞并没有意识到冲动给自己带来的灾祸，但是这一次，他的冲动却连累了整个部队，因此被命令推出辕门斩首，幸亏遇到了一直赏识他的宗泽，允许他戴罪立功，岳飞才幸免于难。

吸取这两次教训后，岳飞学会了培养自己的修为和控制自己的情绪。后来成家有了子女，岳飞也始终教育他们以自律为本。

宋朝时有一条规定是“任子恩例”。也就是说，父辈的官衔越高、战绩越多，子女享受的福利就越多。岳飞是朝廷第一大将军，他的战绩自然是当朝第一，但他却从来不申报自己的功绩，因此他的子女也不能享受福利。

The summer vacation had come again. I was happy that I could forget about school at least for a while. Lest I fool around all through this summer vacation, I made a plan as to how to spend it. First, I thought I should go over all the knowledges that my teachers taught in the previous term so that I could have a better understanding of them.
