“2000年初，盈科数码和IDG两家一起壮着胆子投资了腾讯。两家公司一共投了220万美元，拿走腾讯40%的股份。”

2001年，纳斯达克已经快崩盘了，IDG开始找下家。“新浪、搜狐对腾讯都没看上眼。”马化腾记得当时古永锵(时任搜狐COO)和冯珏(时任搜狐副总裁)都到腾讯看过。那年春天，马化腾到新浪见了王志东和汪延，但后来都没了消息。

这不是腾讯第一次要出手。

在盈科数码和IDG进来之前，1999年11月，腾讯账上只有1万多元。马化腾去找联想投资，结果，连报告都没递到朱立南手上，下面人就说看不太懂，把他打发走了。

这之前，马化腾找到广东电信，出价100万元，广东电信还价60万元，还是没卖成。

“谈判卖QQ的时候，我心情非常复杂，一连谈了四家，都没有达到我们预计的底线，在这种情况下，我决定留下QQ自己养大。”

融资过程中，马化腾做了两次腰椎手术。

“创业第一年里，我们一直喂不饱那只小企鹅，赚钱模式看不到。那个时候时间好像过得特别快，稍微一眨眼，一个月就过去了，意味着你又要给员工发钱了。”

“为了那只喂不饱的小企鹅，我们到处去蹭服务器，还到各大高校网站聊天室里去灌水。起初很多人看不上QQ，一边用一边嘟囔着‘这垃圾，要不是上面美眉多，我才不用呢’。女孩子是吸引男孩子的动力，破解了用户感受，QQ的量就噌噌地往上窜。”

2000年底，中国移动推出“移动梦网”，实行手机代收费分成。马化腾开始做短信，2001年底，腾讯实现了1022万元人民币纯利。

由于拥有庞大的注册用户基数，腾讯推出任何一项产品和服务，都能享受到其带来的好处。马化腾开始成为互联网“全民公敌”。

“我们也并不是说去抢别人的东西，这逻辑不对。就像同样开饭馆，我最开始卖豆浆，慢慢地我发现老来喝豆浆的客人还愿意吃油条，正好我有这个技术，当然我就会尝试着开始卖油条。这时候你也可以卖豆浆啊。客人最终选择到我的店还是你的店，不会是因为谁家卖的东西种类多，只能是因为谁家豆浆、油条更好吃，或者说哪家店卫生和服务好。不过用户同时可能还想吃海鲜火锅，我没那技术，当然我也就不做，做肯定会赔钱。”

“我不盲目创新，微软、Google做的都是别人做过的东西。最聪明的方法肯定是学习最佳案例，然后再超越。”

“腾讯内部，构思一个项目往往很早，比如电子商务，但往往要搁置上一两年才正式推出。因为资源有限，一段时间只能专注在一个业务上，业务要排优先级。”

“我不争第一，没意义。新产品一出来就要保证稳定，不能想怎么改就怎么改，要慎重。”
