Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. ―I‖, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word ―tame‖, becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. ―It’s too far. I can not carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.‖ he said. He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly. Maybe it’s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over.

Yesterday, I read the novel called "Tess of the Durbevilles". written by a famous Englishwriter Thomas Hardy.

The novel tells a story about a pretty and good girl called Tess, who lived in a village in Marlott. To her sadness, when she was seventeen, she was no longer a pure and untouched girl. She gave birth to a baby, which didnt live long. So Tess changed from a pure gir l to a grown —up.

Because she was the eldest of the 7 children in the family, she found a job to support the whole family in a dairy.There she knew Angel and married him. But unluckily. when Angel knew her sad story, he left her and went to Brazil.Tess led a hard an d lonely life after that. Later when she knew Angel had retumed home and found out that she was living with the man who had given the damage to her before,Tess couldnt accept the fact and killed the man who was living with her.

Then she escaped and spent together with Angel three days and nights. The police found them on the morning of the fourth day. A few days later, Tess was executed.

Having read this novel, I like the heroine very much because of her purity, warmness, nobility and the spirit of devotion, She dared to fight against the evil, bravely seek and sturggle for the rights of love.

Thomas Hardy was famous for the poetical novels. "Tess of the Durbevilles"is one of this kind. The novel is so fresh that it is nearly like a poem. For nearly a century, it has been popular with the people all over the world.

When I first read The Little Prince, I can’t understand the mean of love and never to think why should the little prince leave alone since he love his rose so deeply. For years, I reread the story and think about it. The simple true was first love. The little prince didn’t know how to love and It was difficult to make him understand the rose’s heart, so it may lead to misunderstanding and hurts from time to time. He leaved his planet because he can not accept the rose and himself.

This is why the little prince don’t know he have to leave : at that time, he had no idea he was in it. The little prince don’t understand the meaning of tame until he met the fox later. Then he produced the endless yearning for the roses and realized his responsibility.

Gradually the little prince was beginning to understand, because he remembered his rose and he thought his rose had tamed him. So he chose to go back to his planet in the end. But to the fox, the little prince’s farewell will make her sad, but the hurts because of love, she should learn to accept it gradually. Having formed a rough idea about the whole matter, Holmes probed into the case immediately and had a careful investigation of the entire area shortly after the arrival, during the process of which he discovered the body of the German teacher Heidegger. Having once started reading this fiction, I was completely immersed in the mysterious story presented by the book. As the saying goes, “Well begun, half done”. At the beginning of the story, just like many other detective stories, the author gives us a brief description of the condition by the words of a client. However, unlike other ones, this story first delineates the client’s strange behavior at length to indicate the severity of the incident in order to attract the readers to continue reading it. As is known to all, vivid depiction is essential to detective stories since it can help the readers understand each figure’s characteristics and visualize the scenes, thus making the story more authentic and attractive. Therefore, trying to present a “real world” to his readership, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the original “Holmes series”, has skillfully arranged the plots of the whole story from the perspective of Dr. Watson, a character not so specialized in discovering the truth hidden behind the enigmatic happenings as Holmes but so loyal to Sherlock Homes as a friend that he always accompanies Holmes wherever he goes. In this way, he elaborately depicted every scene and character in the book, Apart from the special start, the ending of the whole story, being dramatic but reasonable, is certainly an outstanding one. After all, except the author himself, who knows that the Duke’s seemingly ordinary secretary is in fact the Duke’s bastard? In addition, who knows that the Duke actually has already been acquainted with the whole thing before Holmes solves this complicated problem? Yet, surprising as it is, this ending seems so natural that it fits all the plots of the story perfectly well. Holden didn"t want to go home, decided to go to the west to make a living, but he wanted to in the face before walked bye sister, so he dated sister to the museum.But his sister, dragging a big suitcase full of her clothes, she must go with Holden to the western.Finally, for sister persuade invalid, Holden had to give up his plan to the west, then he took her to the zoo.And Holden decided not to run away.He went home shortly he had illness and was sent to a nursing home.

This is a novel about adolescent psychological problems. From the point of subject, like all young men, the hero is a liberal person, but he doesn"t handle their own problems, at the same time, he was also confused, he don"t know their future.

Perhaps everyone in a teenager have encountered similar problems, when we are at that time we offen not to talk about own confusion,so we may enter a wrong way,bringing harm to myself. So after finished reading this book, I realize the importance of mental health, when we meet with difficulties, we should actively to face, and efforts to solve every problem,can"t give up myself,we must have the courage to face the reality.

Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens.

Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. He was born in a poor family but later he became famous and rich. The famous novel --A Tale of Two Cities is written by him too.

This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London. Oliver Twist the hero is a poor orphan. He lived in a life filled with taunts. Nobody loved him. With visions of his future he decided to go to London. He thought a new life was coming but he was wrong a group of thieves were waiting for him.

The author created a group of bad men.

Fagin an old man with a horribly ugly face and red hair was the head of those thieves. He tried to make Oliver be a criminal.

Bill Sikes was a cruel and evil man in the group. He had a bad temper.

Monks Oliver’s brother did bad things to hurt Oliver. He wanted to get the legacies left by his father alone. He paid Fagin to trap Oliver into a life of crime. In fact they were all afraid of being put into prison and being hanged. They can’t live happily.

Nancy a poor girl loved a bad man. She had to help Bill Sikes perpetrate because she loved him. She had to be loyal to the criminal group because she loved him. Actually she was kind. She helped Oliver at the risk of her life. If she hadn’t fell in love with Sikes she would have a happy ending.

The author showed these ugly things to us he described an ugly world. But there are more kind people in the novel.

Mr. Brownlow an old friend of Oliver’s father took good care of Oliver.

Mrs. Maylie Harry Maylie’s mother saved Oliver of his life.

Miss Rose is the aunt of Oliver in fact.

They all protect Oliver from hurt.

Oliver was unlucky to meet so many evil people but he was luckier to get help from so many kind people.

In the end of the novel all the evil people were punished. Oliver got what he should get. Rose married Harry Maylie and they lived happily. All the kind people have a happy ending.

Righteousness can always beat evil. I think this is what the author wants to tell. Although there are many ugly things in the world we must believe that righteousness can always beat evil.

We must store kindness even though we are in ugly situation. One is poor if he doesn’t have kindness. One is rich if he has kindness. So please store your kindness in your mind.

What’s more the novel also tells us to be brave. Oliver was brave enough to overcome all the problems he had met. No matter how difficult the problem is we can’t give up we must try our best to solve it.

From Oliver Twist I have learnt a lot .It’s really a good novel.
