cultivating positive relationship between people, families, nature and the

One legend tells us that it was a time to worship Taiyi, the God of Heaven

in ancient times. The belief was that the God of Heaven controlled the destiny

of the human world. He had sixteen dragons at his beck and call and he decided

when to inflict drought, storms, famine or pestilence upon human beings.

Beginning with Qinshihuang, the first emperor to unite the country, all the

emperors ordered splendid ceremonies each year. The emperor would ask Taiyi to

bring favorable weather and good health to him and his people. Emperor Wudi of

the Han Dynasty directed special attention to this event. In 104 BC, he

proclaimed it as one of the most important celebrations and the ceremony would

last throughout the night. They clean it all up in the morning.

Another legend associates the Lantern Festival with Taoism. Tianguan is the

Taoist god responsible for good fortune. His birthday falls on the 15th day of

the first lunar month. It is said that Tianguan likes all types of

entertainment, so followers prepare various kinds of activities during which

they pray for good fortune.

Yet another common legend dealing with the origins of the Lantern Festival

speaks of a beautiful bird that flew down to earth from heaven, which was hunted

and killed by some villagers. This angered the Jade Emperor in Heaven because

the bird was his favorite one. Therefore, he planned a storm of fire to destroy

the village on the 15th lunar day. The Jade Emperors daughter heard of this

plan, and warned the villagers of her father’s plan to destroy their village.

The village was in turmoil because nobody knew how should they escape their

imminent destruction.

However, a wise man from another village suggested that every family should

hang red lanterns around their houses, set up bonfires on the streets, and

explode firecrackers on the 14th, 15th, and 16th lunar days. This would give the

village the appearance of being on fire to the Jade Emperor. On the 15th lunar

day, troops sent down from heaven whose mission was to destroy the village saw

that the village was already ablaze, and returned to heaven to report to the

Jade Emperor. Satisfied, the Jade Emperor decided not to burn down the village.

From that day on, people celebrate the anniversary on the 15th lunar day every

year by carrying red lanterns on the streets and exploding firecrackers and

fireworks.

There are many stories on how this festival was created. One other story is

about a maid. In the Han Dynasty, Mr. Eastern was a favorite advisor of the

emperor. One winter day, he went to the garden and heard a little girl crying

and getting ready to jump into a well to commit suicide. Mr. Eastern stopped her

and asked why. She said she was a maid in the emperors palace and her name was

Yuan-Xiao.

She never had the chance to meet her family after she started worked at the

palace. She missed them so much every 12th lunar month. If she couldnt have the

chance to show her filial piety in this life, she would rather die. Mr. Eastern

promised her to find a way so she could reunion with her family. Mr. Eastern

left the palace and set up a fortune-telling stall on the street and disguised

himself as a fortuneteller. Because of his reputation, many people asked for

their fortunes.

But every one got the same prediction - a severe fire accident on the 15th

lunar day. The rumor spread quickly. Everyone was worried about the future and

asked Mr. Eastern for help. Mr. Eastern said, "On the 13th lunar day, the God of

Fire will send a fairy lady in red to burn down the city. If you see a lady in

red wearing green pants riding a black horse on that day, you should ask for her

mercy." On that day, Yuan-Xiao pretended to be the red fairy lady. When people

asked for her help, she said, "Im the messenger of the God of Fire and came to

check on the city and Im going to set up fire on 15th. This is an order from

Jade Emperor. He will watch from the heavens.

I will give you a copy of the imperial decree from the God of Fire. You

should go to ask your emperor to find a way out." After she left, people went to

the palace to show the emperor the decree which reads "The capital city is in

trouble. Fire burns on the palace, and fire from Heaven burns all night long on

the 15th." The emperor of Han Dynasty was very shocked. He called and asked Mr.

Eastern for advice. After pondering for a while, Mr. Eastern said, "I heard that

the God of Fire likes to eat Tang-Yuan (Sweet dumpling). Does Yuan-Xiao often

cook Tang-Yuan for you? On the 15th lunar day, let Yuan-Xiao make Tang-Yuan.

Your Majesty will take charge of the worshipping ceremony and you will give

an order to every house to prepare Tang-Yuan to worship the God of Fire at the

same time. Also, deliver another order to ask every house in the city to hang

red lantern and explode fire crackers. Lastly, everyone in the palace and people

outside the city should carry their lanterns on the street to watch the lantern

decoration and fireworks. If everything goes this way, the Jade Emperor would be

deceived.

Then everyone can avoid the fire accident." The emperor happily followed

the plan. Lanterns were everywhere in the capital city on the night of the 15th

lunar day. People were walking on the street. Fire crackers kept making lots of

noise. It looked like the entire city was on fire. Yuan-Xiaos parents went into

the palace to watch the lantern decorations, and Yuan-Xiao made a big lantern

and wrote her name on the lantern. They happily reunited together after her

parents called her name. Everybody was safe during the night. The emperor of Han

Dynasty had a new order that people should do the same thing every year. Since

Yuan-Xiao cooked the best Tan-Yuan, people called the day Yuan-Xiao

Festival.

Matchmakers acted busily in hopes of pairing couples. The brightest lanterns

were symbolic of good luck and hope. As time has passed, the festival no longer

has such implications.

Those who do not carry lanterns often enjoy watching informal lantern

parades. In addition to eating tangyuan (simplified Chinese: 汤圆; traditional

Chinese: 湯圓; pinyin: tāngyuán), another popular activity at this festival is

guessing lantern riddles (which became part of the festival during the Tang

Dynasty), which often contain messages of good fortune, family reunion, abundant

harvest, prosperity and love.

就以学习来说，如果你不去放弃部分玩乐的时间或者睡前呆坐的时间，怎么会有令人兴奋的好成绩呢?学会放弃，才能“山重水复疑无路，柳暗花明又一村”，退一步，才能做“当局者迷，旁观者清”中的旁观者。

因此，学会放弃，人生才能多一条路，同样，也会有更多的收益。

问世人何为珍贵也?答：诚信，乃世间万物之宝物也。古人以诚信为先，以诚信为骄傲。若是一个人没有诚信，那便事事不成，更不会站上道德的高地。所以，诚信是最基本，也是最重要的原则。

这是老师给我讲的一个故事，让我受益匪浅：从前有个小伙子，名叫尾生，一天这个小伙遇到了一位姑娘并且喜欢上了她，于是和这位姑娘约定第二天在长桥相会。第二天尾生如约到了长桥，但姑娘却没来，于是尾生便在长桥上徘徊着等姑娘的出现，一个时辰过去了，两个时辰过去了，……。姑娘还是没来，这时天上下起了暴雨，不一会桥底的水漫过了桥墩，渐渐地淹没了尾生的身体，但尾生想到和那位姑娘有约，不能失信于人，终究没有离开，最后他抱住桥墩被淹死了。这是我们中国古代的一个故事，叫做“桥下之盟”。

诚信，作为我们的立身之本，就像一棵幼芽，植根于每个家庭，生长在每个人的心中。没有了诚信，那么，这人便只是一副被灵魂操控的肉体。言而有信，一诺千金本就是我们祖祖辈辈传承的美德。诚信，是一朵美丽的生命之花，也是一种无形却有爱的力量，也是连接友谊的重要纽带。一个人只有讲诚信，那么他的思想与心理才不会差。诚信不意味着傻气，它意味着我们愿意用一颗真诚的心对待生活。诚信它就像生活中一杯香醇的美酒，美味香醇，这就是它的价值所在。

诚信是土，一亩心灵之土;诚信是云，一片纯洁之云：诚信是水，一滴纯净之水!诚信可以让一个人清醒，洗去心中的污秽，让人们的心灵变得更加纯洁高尚。倘若我们失信于人，从此就在别人的心目中丢失了信誉与地位。

若是我们将诚信当作是一个激励自己的目标，那么，我们就会因此变得更加美好!诚信，并非深奥的理论，而是用一言一行细细地践行，用毅力和善心去书写。

During these two years, we have seen many movies about the youth, the

directors try to remind people of their passed early days. Indeed, when people

see the movie, they feel the situation is so familiar that they could not help

thinking about their days in the school. As for me, when I see the movie, I will

think about my high school days, it was so unforgettable for me, my friends and

I studied so hard together, our strong friendship was built at that time, the

stupid things we did always makes me laugh. Everyone will have an unforgettable

memory in their early life, the memory fulfills their life.

Every year the summer vacation, my life is very different, than at school life more interesting, more rich, more meaningful.

After the summer vacation, my life became interesting. Its hot in summer, and friends to go to swimming pool swimming is the happiest thing in my summer vacation.

Every afternoon 1 point, about on a few good friends, take swimming equipment, take some pocket money, to 95 troops in the swimming pool to swim. Plunge into the water, the sun wilting, we immediately restore the vitality, we are happy, like a fish swim in the water.

This is my summer vacation life.

每年到了暑假，我的生活就大不一样了，比在学校的学习生活更加有趣、更加充实、更加有意义。

放暑假以后，我的生活开始变得有趣。夏日天气炎热，和朋友去游泳馆游泳是我暑假中最快乐的事。

每到午后1点，约上几个要好的朋友，带好游泳装备，带点零花钱，去95部队的游泳馆游泳。一头扎下水，被太阳晒萎蔫的我们，立刻恢复了勃勃生机，我们快乐得像鱼儿一样，在水里遨游。

我们可以在浅水区做一些游戏，可以在水里打水仗，四溅的白色水花似乎也被我们的快乐气氛感染了，顽皮地活蹦乱跳。

这就是我的暑假生活。

Sally is my good friend.She is slim with long black hair.She is a pretty

girl with big eyes and small mouth.She is good at English,so she can speak

English very well.She also likes singing and dancing.Well,she likes doing

sports,and she is good at playing badminton.Her favorite hobby is collecting

stamps,so she has many beautiful stamps from all over the world.She is kind and

funny too,all of us like her.

Nowadays, environmental pollution is very common. Resource waste is also

seen everywhere. In order to protect the environment, to protect our earth, we

need to live a low-carbon life. I usually go to school on foot, sometimes by

bike. If I need to go to the other city, I will choose the public transportation

and not ask my parents drive me there. If I am the last one to leave classroom

or home, I will make sure all the lights are off. I always will save the water

after washing clothes. And then use it to wash the toilet. Our earth is in our

own hands.

想必金钱在我们的生活中可谓是处处流通，处处触及到的，是我们中生活中最普通的一份子，也是最常见的一分子了。但是你对金钱有一定的认识吗?有些人说‘金钱是万恶之源’，而有些人却说‘没有钱是万万不能的’，这又是为何呢?

其实我对金钱的认识主要是得掌握好一个“度”。超过这个度了，金钱就有可能是“万恶之源”。还记得网络上曝光过这样一则事例：江苏省有一位民工，因为和晚上喝了点酒，行车的时候，看见前面有一位女子身上带着一个比较精致的挎包。他平常也穷惯了，没有见过这么好的挎包，以为里面有很多的钱，还有许多值钱的物品，殊不知只是单位中秋节发的月饼!

他便驾着他的摩托车三下五除二，开到最大的速度，到了那位女子的左侧方，一脚就踹到了女子的胯部，让她从高速行驶的电动车上摔了下来。最后导致女子脑组织使严重受伤，听力受损，生活得不到自理，而那个人最后也得到了法律的严惩一时对金钱的贪念，造成了那位女子难以修复的伤害。这样看来，金钱难道不是万恶之源吗?

但是金钱确实是有许许多多的好处的。每当亲戚或者朋友喜结良缘或是喜得贵子的时候，你给他们上一份礼，便会使他们分外的高兴，你们的关系也会更近一层，你们也会变得越来越亲密联系。而且金钱而金钱也会给人带来快乐，每当你用金钱买到自己心仪的商品的时候，你何尝不是非常的兴奋，非常的激动呢?

金钱，同样也能带给人美的享受，也能开阔人的智慧。当你用金钱买来许多书的时候，当你用金钱来旅游的时候，那自然的景色和书中的描写相结合，那自然旖旎的风光和书中趣味横生的故事，又何尝不让你流连忘返，沉浸在这美好之中呢?这样不仅开阔了自己的视野，而且也使得自己懂得了更多的知识，所以说金钱，也是一个“万美之源”。

其实金钱在生活中，发挥着许许多多重要的作用，但是你一定得知道：金钱一定要用在适合它的地方，而不能因为金钱，改变了自己做人的底线，你要知道——你，才是金钱的主人!

More and more people now show their great interests intraveling, because

traveling can bring us a lot of benefits.

To begin with, having worked hard for a few months, traveling can release

us from high pressure. More importantly, traveling can help us acquire more

knowledge. No matter how many books we have read, there is still plenty of

knowledge for us to learn from traveling, like history, culture, custom, and

geography of the places we visit. By the way, through traveling, we can meet

many new friends and taste different kinds of delicious food.

While some people are not interested in traveling at all, since traveling

will cost a great deal of money on transportation and accommodation, and they

may feel tired after sightseeing as well.

As far as I’m concerned, the advantages of traveling are more than its

disadvantages, so if our time and finance permit, we can travel to some nice

places every year, in order to make our life more colorful and vivid.

得到一些好东西很简单，但要舍弃一样喜爱的事物极为困难。在这个互联网高速发展的时代，手机似乎已成为人们生活的必需品。人们无节制的被手机所掌控也是司空见惯，尤其是青少年。我便是其中的一员。

面对手机，我仿佛着了魔，一旦拿起，就不能放下，好似有人用502粘胶把手机拿好粘在我手上一样。茶不思，饭不想，只因有手机。在整个假期，我与它日夜相伴，也许是手机里的微博吸引我，又或者是电子游戏。我总想要了解那些与我一辈子搭不上道的人的消息，想要玩那些虚拟的游戏。

直到我看到了一篇文章，它让我懂得，舍弃一些事物对自己是有好处的。于是，我下定决心去舍弃手机。

起初，我依旧忍不住想看手机，因为克制不住自己心中的小恶魔，我把手机锁进柜子里，强迫自己去做别的事。时间久了，好像手机并不那么重要了。我开始放下网络世界的八卦趣闻，走入大自然了。因为舍弃了手机，我的时间便充裕起来了：能慢下来写作业了，有闲暇阅读书籍了，有时间陪父母聊天了，甚至出去玩、信马由缰异想天开也不在话下。每天的经历丰富了很多，再想起以前坐在桌前，抱着手机看一天的日子，实是寡然无味。

俗话说：有舍必有得。当自己学会舍弃后，我才发现生活是彩色的，姹紫嫣红。虽说是舍弃，但我却发现得到了更多。眼睛不酸了，脖子也不累了，和父母的关系改善了。

一定有许多人和我一样，放不下手机。只要你学会舍弃，就会看到新的世界，就能感受生活的美不胜收。就算身处互联网时代，却也不必事事依赖手机，不要养成迷恋手机的习惯，也有许多手机做不到的事情——代替我们思考、学习，代替我们人家交往，代替我们感受生活。要学会驱利避害，正确的使用手机，让手机成为为我们服务的工具。

人生是一个调色盘，画出怎样的色彩全靠自己，若想作出自己满意的图画，就请学会舍弃，潜心学习吧!
