My favorite TV program is Animal World. It’s very interesting and exciting. There I learn a lot kinds of animals.

Some people think some animals are dangerous. They may hurt us humans. We can kill them. I can’t stand the idea. Each animal has its reason to live on the earth. They are important for the world. They keep a balance. If somebody breaks it, we humans may not be able to live on the earth.

There are many different beliefs about the origin of the Lantern Festival.

But one thing for sure is that it had something to do with celebrating and

cultivating positive relationship between people, families, nature and the

higher beings they believed were responsible for bringing/returning the light

each year.

One legend tells us that it was a time to worship Taiyi, the God of Heaven

in ancient times. The belief was that the God of Heaven controlled the destiny

of the human world. He had sixteen dragons at his beck and call and he decided

when to inflict drought, storms, famine or pestilence upon human beings.

Beginning with Qinshihuang, the first emperor to unite the country, all the

emperors ordered splendid ceremonies each year. The emperor would ask Taiyi to

bring favorable weather and good health to him and his people. Emperor Wudi of

the Han Dynasty directed special attention to this event. In 104 BC, he

proclaimed it as one of the most important celebrations and the ceremony would

last throughout the night. They clean it all up in the morning.

Another legend associates the Lantern Festival with Taoism. Tianguan is the

Taoist god responsible for good fortune. His birthday falls on the 15th day of

the first lunar month. It is said that Tianguan likes all types of

entertainment, so followers prepare various kinds of activities during which

they pray for good fortune.

Yet another common legend dealing with the origins of the Lantern Festival

speaks of a beautiful bird that flew down to earth from heaven, which was hunted

and killed by some villagers. This angered the Jade Emperor in Heaven because

the bird was his favorite one. Therefore, he planned a storm of fire to destroy

the village on the 15th lunar day. The Jade Emperors daughter heard of this

plan, and warned the villagers of her father’s plan to destroy their village.

The village was in turmoil because nobody knew how should they escape their

imminent destruction.

However, a wise man from another village suggested that every family should

hang red lanterns around their houses, set up bonfires on the streets, and

explode firecrackers on the 14th, 15th, and 16th lunar days. This would give the

village the appearance of being on fire to the Jade Emperor. On the 15th lunar

day, troops sent down from heaven whose mission was to destroy the village saw

that the village was already ablaze, and returned to heaven to report to the

Jade Emperor. Satisfied, the Jade Emperor decided not to burn down the village.

From that day on, people celebrate the anniversary on the 15th lunar day every

year by carrying red lanterns on the streets and exploding firecrackers and

fireworks.

There are many stories on how this festival was created. One other story is

about a maid. In the Han Dynasty, Mr. Eastern was a favorite advisor of the

emperor. One winter day, he went to the garden and heard a little girl crying

and getting ready to jump into a well to commit suicide. Mr. Eastern stopped her

and asked why. She said she was a maid in the emperors palace and her name was

Yuan-Xiao.

She never had the chance to meet her family after she started worked at the

palace. She missed them so much every 12th lunar month. If she couldnt have the

chance to show her filial piety in this life, she would rather die. Mr. Eastern

promised her to find a way so she could reunion with her family. Mr. Eastern

left the palace and set up a fortune-telling stall on the street and disguised

himself as a fortuneteller. Because of his reputation, many people asked for

their fortunes.

But every one got the same prediction - a severe fire accident on the 15th

lunar day. The rumor spread quickly. Everyone was worried about the future and

asked Mr. Eastern for help. Mr. Eastern said, "On the 13th lunar day, the God of

Fire will send a fairy lady in red to burn down the city. If you see a lady in

red wearing green pants riding a black horse on that day, you should ask for her

mercy." On that day, Yuan-Xiao pretended to be the red fairy lady. When people

asked for her help, she said, "Im the messenger of the God of Fire and came to

check on the city and Im going to set up fire on 15th. This is an order from

Jade Emperor. He will watch from the heavens.

I will give you a copy of the imperial decree from the God of Fire. You

should go to ask your emperor to find a way out." After she left, people went to

the palace to show the emperor the decree which reads "The capital city is in

trouble. Fire burns on the palace, and fire from Heaven burns all night long on

the 15th." The emperor of Han Dynasty was very shocked. He called and asked Mr.

Eastern for advice. After pondering for a while, Mr. Eastern said, "I heard that

the God of Fire likes to eat Tang-Yuan (Sweet dumpling). Does Yuan-Xiao often

cook Tang-Yuan for you? On the 15th lunar day, let Yuan-Xiao make Tang-Yuan.

Your Majesty will take charge of the worshipping ceremony and you will give

an order to every house to prepare Tang-Yuan to worship the God of Fire at the

same time. Also, deliver another order to ask every house in the city to hang

red lantern and explode fire crackers. Lastly, everyone in the palace and people

outside the city should carry their lanterns on the street to watch the lantern

decoration and fireworks. If everything goes this way, the Jade Emperor would be

deceived.

Then everyone can avoid the fire accident." The emperor happily followed

the plan. Lanterns were everywhere in the capital city on the night of the 15th

lunar day. People were walking on the street. Fire crackers kept making lots of

noise. It looked like the entire city was on fire. Yuan-Xiaos parents went into

the palace to watch the lantern decorations, and Yuan-Xiao made a big lantern

and wrote her name on the lantern. They happily reunited together after her

parents called her name. Everybody was safe during the night. The emperor of Han

Dynasty had a new order that people should do the same thing every year. Since

Yuan-Xiao cooked the best Tan-Yuan, people called the day Yuan-Xiao

Festival.

Young people were chaperoned in the streets in hopes of finding love.

Matchmakers acted busily in hopes of pairing couples. The brightest lanterns

were symbolic of good luck and hope. As time has passed, the festival no longer

has such implications.

Those who do not carry lanterns often enjoy watching informal lantern

parades. In addition to eating tangyuan (simplified Chinese: 汤圆; traditional

Chinese: 湯圓; pinyin: tāngyuán), another popular activity at this festival is

guessing lantern riddles (which became part of the festival during the Tang

Dynasty), which often contain messages of good fortune, family reunion, abundant

harvest, prosperity and love.

What is art? When people think about this question, they will naturally

think about all kinds of musical instruments or the great paintings in the art

museums. Art seems to so far away from the ordinary people, but I don’t think

so. Art is everywhere. For example, the delicious food that is made by our

parents is the great art, and the value of the food is to bring people the great

joy when they have a taste of it. The scenery around us is the visible art, when

we appreciate it, our mood become eased. Art is something that brings people the

positive value for me, so art is around everybody. If we take time to slow down

Since the development of the technology, the society gets modernized,

people make use of the high technology to pursue more profit. Though the

government has noticed the problem that people do to the environment, they still

can’t prevent negative result that the polluted environment brings.

Many years ago, the most prominent problem of the polluted environment is

that the river and the water were changed their color, some fish even died for

the polluted river. Now the situation becomes ever worse, lately, in the big

city, like Beijing and Shanghai, people are annoyed by the bad weather. It is

not the rainy day, but the haze around the sky, there is no way for people to

run away for it. The haze contains toxic elements, people breathe it and hurt

their bodies.

The haze problem is the result of people’s pursuit for the profit, what

people did to the environment now has been paid back by the environment. Now

people have realized the revenge from the nature is so huge, protecting the

environment is the main task. No matter how bad the environment is, people still

need to do something to fix their mistake.

从此以后什么事情我都命令机器人干，累的机器人快散架了。因为机器人有智能，在忍无可忍情况下，它开始惩罚我来。一天夜里它将声控器贴在我的背上。早晨我刚起来机器人便命令我：“拿开水，不知怎么的我身不由己地到起水来。”我这是怎么了?我暗想。而后机器人让我干什么我就干什么。妈妈发现了很高兴。老师发现我不但能按时完成作业了，而且能够保证质量，也很高兴。

就这样，我在智能机器人的指导下训练了一年，渐渐的我也养成了自我服务的劳动习惯。

看来，我还真得感谢这个“智能机器人呢!”

瞧，镜子中的我：大大的脑袋上一头密密麻麻的乌黑的短发，像钢针一样竖起。一笑起来小眼睛就眯成了一条缝，现在上面又架起了一个蓝丝边的眼镜，看上去斯文了许多。因为我特别爱笑，认识我的人都说我是“阳光男孩”。

The Culture of China is home to one of the worlds oldest and most complex

civilizations. China boasts a history rich in over 5,000 years of artistic,

philosophical, political, and scientific advancement. Though regional

differences provide a sense of diversity, commonalities in language and religion

connect a culture distinguished by such significant contributions such as

Confucianism and Taoism. Confucianism was the official philosophy throughout

most of Imperial Chinas history and strongly influenced other countries in East

Asia. Mastery of Confucian texts provided the primary criterion for entry into

the imperial bureaucracy.

With the rise of Western economic and military power beginning in the

mid-19th century, Western systems of social and political organization gained

adherents in China. Some of these would-be reformers rejected Chinas cultural

legacy, while others sought to combine the strengths of Chinese and Western

cultures.

China is a unified nation consisting of many different ethnic groups.

Fifty-six different ethnic groups make up the great Chinese national family.

Because the Han people accounts for more than ninety percent of Chinas

population, the remaining fifty-five groups are generally referred to as "ethnic

minorities." Next to the majority Han, the Mongolian, Hui, Tibetan, and Uygur

peoples comprise the largest ethnic groups. Although Chinas ethnic minorities

do not account for a large portion of the population, they are distributed over

a vast area, residing in every corner of China.

Particularly since the implementation of Chinas opening and reform policy,

the central government has increased investment in minority areas and

accelerated their opening to the outside world. This has resulted in an upsurge

of economic development in these areas. Each of Chinas ethnic minority groups

possesses a distinctive culture. The Chinese government respects minority

customs, and works to preserve, study, and collate the cultural artifacts of

Chinas ethnic minority groups. The government vigorously supports the

development of minority culture and the training of minority cultural workers,

and fosters the development of traditional minority medicine.

The relation among Chinas ethnic groups can be described as "overall

integration, local concentration, mutual interaction." Concentrations of ethnic

minorities reside within predominantly Han areas, and the Han people also reside

in minority areas, indicating that there has been extensive exchanges among

Chinas ethnic groups since ancient times. With the development of the market

economy, interaction among ethnic groups has become even more active in the

areas of government, economics, culture, daily life, and marriage. Linked by

interdependence, mutual assistance, and joint development, their common goals

and interests creating a deep sense of solidarity, Chinas ethnic groups

resemble a great national family, together building Chinese civilization.

Since I went to college, I feel so excited about the new chapter of my

life. I have imagined the campus life for so many years. Now I finally come to

this stage. I have much time after class, so I need to learn to deal with it.

After two years’ struggling, I find the right way to spend my time.

The first thing for every college student is to learn major knowledge. In

China, so many students think college time is used to play instead of study, so

they skip class. This is a big mistake. College is the stage for students to

The second thing for college students is to join the after-class

老师上课时经常说的一句话是‘手是老师和学生沟通的信号’。我们的手是在向老师表达这心中的想法，而老师的手却很‘‘劳累’’。对学生好奇的问题，李老师总会不厌其烦的解释得很详细，并用他的肢体语言--手，在做着各种动作，帮我们理解各种各样的问题。即使是非常简单的词语，为了使同学们明白，老师还是用手在不停的比划着……

老师的手里包涵着我们的渴望，包含着他的期望。

老师的手在空中定格了，在我的脑海中定格了，在我的童年中定格了。

仙女湖是肇庆的一个重要景点。那里一年四季景色宜人、风景优美。任何人去到这美丽的地方，都会流连忘返、难以忘怀。

春天，桃花在人们不注意时悄悄开放，在风中轻轻舞动，让人们欣赏自己美妙的身姿。绿油油的柳树也不甘示弱，一条条柳枝像春姑娘绿色的小辫子，真美丽!小草也从土里探出脑袋，换上嫩绿的新衣裳，好奇地打探着世界的每一个角落。

夏天，各种各样的树木长的葱葱茏茏。人们坐在树下乘凉，说说笑笑，欣赏湖边的风景。还有的人在湖上划船。湖上还有一群活泼可爱的小天鹅，他们有的和小伙伴们在碧绿的湖水里嬉戏打闹，有的在静静地欣赏自己映在水里洁白美丽的倒影，还有的在湖面上开心地玩耍，弄得水花四溅!

到了秋天，湖边的菊花欣然怒放，更引人注目了!有的菊花低着头，像个害羞的小姑娘;有的菊花挺着胸、抬着头，像一位娇气的小公主;还有的菊花两朵靠在一起，像是在说悄悄话。风一吹，她们发出“沙沙”的声音。我想，她们是在比美吗?菊花不仅美，颜色也多，有黄色的、粉色的、紫红色的……漂亮极了!菊花不仅颜色多，花瓣也是千姿百态呢!有的花瓣是长条形的，有的是椭圆形的，还有的是针一样的形状。花朵有的含苞待放，有的才开了几片花瓣……这些菊花不禁让我想起了一句诗——不是花中偏爱菊，此花开尽更无花。

冬天来了，天气变得更冷了，所有的花儿都凋谢了，只有腊梅不害怕寒冷顽强地开着。那小小的黄色花朵散发出浓浓的花香，引来人们的一阵夸赞。就像人们说的那样，腊梅的香味是来自寒冷的冬天。

啊，美丽的仙女湖，我愿变成一只小鸟，为你轻声歌唱;我愿变成一道彩虹，挂在你蓝蓝的天空;我愿变成一盏明亮的灯，把你照得更加光彩夺目!

我们总习惯仰望星空，却忽略了身边闪闪发光的人们。如果你仔细观察，就会发现，我们身边的很多人都有值得我们学习的地方，他们都可以在某些方面成为我们的榜样。

勇于创新的烹调达人

我的姥姥厨艺十分了得，从各种西式糕点到传统中式菜肴，她都十分擅长，还总能花样翻新，做出一些令我惊喜的佳肴。我经常能看到姥姥一手捧着手机看着“下厨房APP”，另一手扶着老花眼镜，眯着眼睛，眉头紧锁，口中念念有词研读菜谱的样子。最近，姥姥开始研究新的“电饭煲酸奶蛋糕”了，把低筋面粉、细砂糖、酸奶和鸡蛋一起打散，再放到电饭煲中蒸熟，真是美味又健康!可是姥姥却不满意，总觉得还有些鸡蛋腥味。“在面团里滴一两滴醋，是不是就像做鱼一样，也可以把蛋糕面包里的鸡蛋腥味去掉了呢?”她自言自语道。在大胆尝试后，这个想法得到了肯定，自此，我们家的蛋糕面包再也没有了鸡蛋腥味。过了几天，姥姥又会把蛋糕变一个样子：在上面撒上芝麻、葡萄干、蔓越莓等干果作点缀，或是在蛋糕表面放一层奶酪，再撒上一层砂糖，再或是在面团里撒上一把红豆，这样咬开时蛋糕里面便会有一股淡淡的豆沙味了……总之，姥姥总会想尽办法，为我和家人做出永远不会吃腻的美味。

姥姥热爱生活、敢于创新、善于创新，这难道不是我应该学习的好榜样吗?

助人为乐的然然

我有一位十分要好的发小，小名叫然然。四年级的那个夏天，我们两家一起自驾去烟台旅游。一路上，我和然然都挤在最后一排的小座位上，有时候困了我们就在车上睡觉。但汽车最后一排的座位很窄，只有够睡一个人再加半个人的位置，可谁会是那半个呢?然然自告奋勇地让我睡里侧，她睡外侧，然而她体态较胖，“一半身体在座椅上，另一半在空中悬着，一定很不舒服吧!”我担心地问她，她却摇摇头：“没关系，我比你大(其实只比我大三个月)，姐姐就应该让着妹妹，让你舒服最重要!”之后，她明明很难受，却还故作轻松地教我玩游戏，转移注意力。我不禁想起我们一起在幼儿园里时，她就一直是我们小孩里的“小大人”：丁丁不会系鞋带，她主动帮她系上，娇娇找不到皮筋，她主动帮忙找到了，老师在拖地，她又主动帮老师一起干活……

然然情感细腻，总是乐于关心帮助着身边的人，难道不是我应该学习的好榜样吗?

善于学习的小涵姐姐

小升初后的暑假，我认识了一位妈妈同事的女儿——小涵姐姐，她也是海实的学姐，刚刚以优异的成绩考上了清华附中。当我第一次去她家，走进她的房间时，我惊呆了：首先映入我眼帘的是她房间的窗户，竟然用喷墨笔写着几道我怎么也看不懂的复杂公式，不知道是数学是物理还是化学;旁边的书桌还有墙上贴着好些个小便签纸，纸上有的写着英语单词，有的写着唐诗宋词。她见我诧异的样子，不好意思地说：“有些乱吧?我把它们贴在我随处可见的地方，这样有助于我记忆!”当我请教她有关初中的学习生活时，她又提醒我，初中知识点多，一定要注意提前预习、复习，特别是要做好错题本。说罢，她又拿出她的笔记和整理的错题本给我参考，又特意嘱咐我错因分析是关键。看着她工整的笔记，条理清楚的错题记录，我的敬佩之情不禁油然而生。

“工欲善其事必先利其器”，小涵姐姐善于学习，找到适合自己的学习方法，提高学习效率，难道不是我应该学习的好榜样吗?

人生处处是学问，敢于创新的姥姥，乐于助人的然然，善于学习的小涵姐姐

我觉得生命应该视作一场冒险，应该让宝石般的火焰在胸中熊熊燃烧。做人就应该冒风险，应该赴汤蹈火，履险如夷。

刚走进高中时的我，懵懵懂懂，对于大学没有一点概念，崇拜“非主流”的我和一群“志同道合”的同学扮演起学校最标新立异的角色，将叛逆当清高。然而，不知道在高考的战场上，只有真才实学才是自己最好的武装。高一的我整天沉迷书海，从小说到推理，从伊坂幸太郎到王小波，可以说那段时间我的阅读量高得惊人。但是，好景不长，直到分科时，我才发现，宝贵的高中时间已经过去了三分之一，我看着自己写得密密麻麻却连一个完整故事都拼凑不出的笔记本，感到前所未有的打击。

即使再聪明的人也有记不住的东西，那时的我变得不知所措，成绩的退步与分科的抉择让我变得有些恐慌，我开始对眼前的方向和脚下的路产生迷茫和畏惧。当我锁上笔记本毅然决然来到理科班，心理的痛苦才刚刚开始……

曾处于山顶眺望过无限美景的人怎甘心留在半山腰，我想努力再攀高峰，前所未有的决心。可我忘记了，一年的荒废早已使我跟不上老师的步伐，尤其是数学，高二的课程已显吃力，我还要恶补高一的知识。现在回忆起来，都不知道是什么让我坚持下来，可能是心中那燃烧的熊熊烈火!

才华是刀刃，辛苦是磨刀石，再锋利的刀刃也需要挫折的打磨才能更显锐利。经历了失败与低落，心态是前进的保障。前进的道路上没有鲜花与掌声，也没有歌声与笑语，只有一步一个脚印的踏实。在经历了心理上的种.种考验，我收服了心猿意马，开始了苦行僧式的学习历程。

但丁曾说：“走自己的路，让别人去说吧。”每当夜深人静的时候，我常常伏在桌上思考，这该是一位多伟大的人啊!像我们现在的中学生正是缺乏这种勇气和毅力。我常常幻想自己乘着时光机穿越过去，对但丁说，你可以补上一句“风雨之后的彩虹更炫丽”!

美就像一滴雨，滋润了干枯的大地;美就像一幅意境深远的油画，让人流连忘返;美就像一首优美的的夜曲，彻底让人除去浮躁与狂妄。在生活中，我们欣赏美，追求美，但是你只要细心观察生活，美就会在你身边，就像那个送水大叔……

我们的学校里来了一个大叔，他是专门为我们送水的。他总是穿着黑白条纹上衣、黑色裤子，头发梳得十分整齐，额头上几条深深的皱纹在笑起来的时候就显得更加深刻了，他应该有五十几岁了吧。

这位大叔每隔三、四天就会给我们送矿泉水。可有一次，我却看到十分心疼的一幕。中午，同学们都在安静看书，“嗒嗒嗒”!只听一阵脚步声急匆匆向我们班级靠近，“哦!送水大叔来了。”见他两手拎着矿泉水，脚步沉重地走了进来，脸上成串成串的汗珠，有几滴汗珠滴到了眼睛里。我本以为他会找我们要纸巾擦，谁知，他只是把简单地用粗糙的手抹了一下脸，又不声不响地走了。这让我很是惊讶，平时我自己眼睛被水滴到都会涩得哇哇叫，并用手去使劲揉眼睛，可他却只是静悄悄走掉了。老师在门外跟他打了声招呼，原来他还要赶着去其它学校送水呢……我的心里五味杂陈。

还有一次，作为劝导员，我刚巡完一年级的午休，正要回自个儿班级的路上，又一次撞见那位大叔。他将几桶矿泉水放在楼梯一旁，担心同学们会不小心撞到，就在一旁单手撑着墙守着，也算是他的短暂休息。一会儿，他又开始提水上楼了。我看着他一步一个台阶，看着他熟练而吃力的动作，我的嗓子眼儿里好像被石头堵住了。跟在他的后面，我发现他的脖子后面贴了几块止痛贴，手腕上的肌肉绷得紧紧的，两条看似空荡荡的裤管……

看着他上楼、下楼的背影，我不禁为他默默送水，兢兢业业的精神点赞!他虽平凡，平凡得让人很难去注意他，但我们却不得不说他为生活努力的样子真美!
