即使你拥有整个世界，你也一天只能吃三餐，这是人生思悟后的一种清醒，谁真正懂得它的含义，谁就能活得轻松，过得自在。白天知足常乐，夜里睡得安宁，蓦然回首也没有遗憾。

物质上永远不知足是一种病态，其病因多是权力、地位、金钱之类引起的。这种病态如果发展下去，就是贪得无厌，其结果是自我毁灭。

托尔斯泰说：“欲望越小，人生就越幸福。”这话蕴涵着深刻的人生哲理，也是针对欲望越来，人越贪婪，越易致祸而言的。古往今来，被难填的欲壑所葬送的贪婪者不计其数。”

托尔斯泰讲过这么一个故事：有一个人想得到一块土地，地主就对他说：“清早，你从这里往外跑，跑一段插一根旗杆，只要你在太阳下山前赶回来，插上旗杆的地都归你。”那人就不要命地跑，太阳偏西了还不知足，太阳落山前，他是跑回来了，但已精疲力尽，一头栽在地上就再也没起来。于是有人挖了个坑，就地埋了他。牧师在给这个人做祷告的时候说：“一个人要多少土地呢?就这么大。”

这个死者，正像《伊索寓言》里一个故事所说：“有些人因为贪婪，想得到更多的东西，却把现在所有的东西也失去了。”

其实，我们每一个人所拥有的，无率是房子、车子……无论是有形的，还是无形的，没有一样是属于你自己的。那些东西不过是暂时寄托于你，有的让你暂时使用，有的让你暂时保管而已，到了最后，物归原主，都未可知，所以智者把这些财富统统视为身外之物。

卡耐基曾说：“要是我们得不到我们希望得到的东西南北，最好不要让忧虑和悔恨来苦恼我们的生活，且要我们原谅自己，学得豁达一点。”罗马政治学家及哲学家塞尼加也说：“如果你一直觉得不满，那么你即使拥有了整个世界，也会觉得伤心。”且让我们记得，即使我们拥有整个世界，我们一天也只能吃三餐，一次也只能睡一张床，即使是一个农民也可以享受这简单的幸福，而且他们可能比洛克菲勒吃得更津津有味，睡得更安稳。

“身外物，不奢恋。”是思悟后的清醒，它不但是超越世俗的大智大勇，也是放眼未来的豁达情怀。
