Moonquakes are to Mid-Autumn Festival what mince pies are to Christmas. The seasonal round cakes traditionally have a sweet filling of lotus seed paste or red bean paste and often have one or more salted duck eggs in the center to represent the moon. And the moon is what this celebration is all about. Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th month，it is the time when the moon is said to be at its brightest and fullest.

There are two legends which claim to explain the tradition of eating moonquakes. One Tang Dynasty myth holds that the Earth once had 10 suns circling it. One day all 10 suns appeared at once，scorching the planet with their heat.

It was thanks to a skillful archer named Hour Yi that the Earth was saved. He shot down all but one of the suns. As his reward，the Heavenly Queen Mother gave Hour Yi the Elixir of Immortality，but she warned him that he must use it wisely.

Hour Yi ignored her advice and，corrupted by fame and fortune，became a tyrannical leader. Chang-Err，his beautiful wife， could no longer stand by and watch him abuse his power so she stole his Elixir and fled to the moon to escape his angry wrath. And thus began the legend of the beautiful woman in the moon，the Moon Fairy.

The second legend has it that during the Yuan Dynasty，an underground group led by Zhu Yuan Zing was determined to rid the country of Mongolian dominance. The moon cake was created to carry a secret message.

When the cake was opened and the message read，an uprising was unleashed which successfully routed the Mongolians. It happened at the time of the full moon，which，some say，explains why moonquakes are eaten at this time.

Moonquakes are usually stamped with Chinese characters indicating the name of the ry and the type of filling used. Some ries will even stamp them with your family name so that you can give personalized ones to friends and family.

They are usually presented in boxes of four which indicate the four phases of the moon. Traditional moonquakes are made with melted lard，but today vegetable oil is more often used in the interests of health.

Moonquakes are not for the diet-conscious as they are loaded with calories. The best way to wash down one of these sticky cakes is with a cup of Chinese tea，especially Jasmine or Chrysanthemum tea，which aids the digestion.

开始轮到我们表演了！我们很有秩序地走向赛场，站在各自的位置上。我也信心十足地确定了我站的点。准备好了！我们的队形可真漂亮！中间围成的小圆是“花蕊”，周边拥着“花蕊”的五个小圆就是“花瓣”了，正好组成了一朵盛开的鲜花。欢快的音乐响了起来，我们认认真真地做着每一个动作，身体越来越放松了。我们越跳越带劲儿，清脆整齐的脚步声咚咚地响了起来，像在给我们打着节拍，又像最贴心的好朋友在为我们加油、喝彩！我们花儿队形时而欣然怒放，时而含蓄地悄悄伸展，时而合上花瓣小憩片刻……这时，我心灵深处的快乐之花也随着音乐摇曳起来……

I noticed an ad. In the paper today you said you were looking for people to join your expedition team. It sounded as if it might be fun so Im writing to say Id like to come along.

About myself: I left school at 16 because I wanted to earn a bit of money. After that I got a few part-time jobs as a waiter, etc. But I didnt stick to any of them for long. Recently Ive been doing a bit of hitch-hiking round Europe so Ive had some experience of traveling the hard way which should come in handy on the expedition youre planning. By the way, Im a great guitarist so I can keep you all amused round the campfire at night.

The first thing I did was I made a plan for my study. I assigned my

homework equally according to the holidays so that I can finish all of them in

time. And during my winter vacation, we welcome the most important festival in

China—Spring Festival, it’s also called Chinese New Year by lots of

foreigners.

At that night, our family came together and had a big meal. Of course we

had dumplings that night, because that is our Chinese traditional. We then watch

the CCTV spring festival evening party together and watch the beautiful

fireworks. That’s the happiest time in this world! The winter vacation I had

dreamed all year around was finally coming. And I really enjoyed a lot from

it.

The first thing I did was I made a plan for my study. I assigned my

In China, the number of college students increases every year, as more and

more students get the college education, college students are under great

pressure. We hear from the news that a lot of students can’t find jobs after

graduation, then the next year, the other students gets graduating, the two

years’ students compete for the jobs! I just can’t imagine such situation. The

pressure from college students is getting greater, they should relieve it now

and then, because too much pressure will bring bad effect, some may distort

their minds, once their emotion can’t relieve in time, some tragical things may

happen. It is said that some students suicide themselves because they have much

pressure. Everybody will have pressure, but we must know that pressure brings

motivation, at the same time, it also brings burden, we have to balance it. When

同学们有的交头接耳，有的摩拳擦掌，有的手拿针线忙碌着……我暗自窃喜，不就是穿针，引线，打结，订纽扣嘛！这可是我的强项。平时穿珠子，做手工，不在话下，怎么会被这区区一粒纽扣难倒呢？这根本就是张飞吃豆芽—小菜一碟。开始穿针了，我学着奶奶穿针的样子，将针高举对着光，一只眼闭着，一只眼眯着，试着穿了好几下，哎，穿不过去。今天的针和线好像成心和我过不去似的，手举得倒有点酸了，真是想想容易，做起来难！我环顾四周，一些同学开始在订了，我暗自着急，乱戳一气，居然被我穿过去了。我偷眼一瞧，呀！有几个同学已经订完第二粒了。我手心开始冒汗。接着要打结，我挠着后脑勺，该怎么打才能让这结大于针眼的宽度呢?仔细一看，原来只要在同一个地方多打几个结就能搞定。终于可以钉纽扣了，这个步骤也有点难，针在布下怎么也对不准纽扣的眼。我摸索着，发现了一个秘诀，只要按住纽扣，用手摸着，就可以感觉到针，然后调整针的位置，对准扣眼穿上来，但这手不能按得太牢，不然会“一针见血”。针上下来回多次，一粒纽扣便安安稳稳地订好了。有了第一粒成功的经验，后面就顺利多了。我这架势真有点飞针走线的裁缝样。以前在家订扣子不是奶奶帮忙就是妈妈搭把手，今天却全靠自己，虽然一开始小看了这活，但经过自己的摸索、尝试、总结，最终把这扣子征服了，我的心里如同吃了蜜糖一般。

学本领第一，比赛第二。下课时，老师并没有宣布此次比赛的胜负，但我觉得这是一场非常愉快而又有意义的比赛。

今天，陈老师让我们进行一场夹跳珠比赛，比赛规则是双方，分为三人一组。前两局比赛完了，到我了，我心里紧张极了，手不停的发抖。我的队员都在为我加油;"加油呀”!比赛开始了，我手里拿着筷子，我真没想到那些跳珠竟然很听我的话乖乖地被我夹了起来。而且百发百中。我太开心了，我的对手才夹了五个，而我只剩一个跳珠，我认真地把那个“听话”的跳珠给夹到另一个碗里了，我开心地把筷子放下来。我赢了。我的队员都为我捏一把汗，我赢了，他们都很开心。

该林婧妤比赛了，我使劲在那喊;“加油”!比赛开始，林婧妤十拿九稳每个跳珠都百发百中，到了关键时刻，忽然黄锦泉说;“怎么有那么多的恐龙蛋!”我和几位队员都捧腹大笑;“哈哈!”林婧妤顿时轻松了许多，林婧妤终于赢了!我们都高兴得手舞足蹈，因为我们理想队赢了闪电队!现在进入个人赛，赢的人会得到一个糖果。前三局完了，这一轮老师问;“还有谁要挑战的?”我说：“我要”我的对手是许树杰，他有可能赢我，但我会尽我所有的本能去夺冠。比赛开始了，我把筷子拿稳了，看到一个跳珠就飞快地把跳珠夹起来。可有些跳珠不听我的话它们就像鱼儿一样，游来游去，根本夹不到，我用尽全身解数才夹到两个，还有一个跳珠，我把筷子拿起来擦一擦，又把筷子伸进碗里，夹起那个跳珠，我赢了，我获得了一个糖果!今天，我太开心了。

As we all know, pollution is harmful to living beings. There are many

different types of pollutions in this world. For instance, water pollution, air

pollution, noise pollution and so on. Water pollution cause many kinds of

disease that have negative effects on human beings, sometimes the diseases will

take people’s life away. Dirty air will increase the rate of getting lung

cancer. While the noise pollution will cause insomnia. People’s health condition

will be damaged.

In my humble opinion, people should take measures to control the pollution.

Recently, not only the government, but also individual has taken part in the

action of protecting the environment. This is a good sign. Rivers are being

cleaned, air is purified, and the people come to realize that the importance of

protecting the environment.

However, this is not enough, the problems are still exist. Not all of them

have been solved. Some factories are still pouring dirty water into the rivers

or give off the toxic gas into the sky. We should know that protecting the

environment needs everybody’s effort.
