The Qingming (Pure Brightness) Festival is one of the 24 solar terms in

China, falling on April 4-6 each year. After the festival, the temperature will

rise up and rainfall increase. It is the high time for spring plowing and

sowing. In the past, the Qingming Festival was called “Arbor Day”, but since

1979, “Arbor Day” was settled on March 12 according to the Gregorian

calendar.

But the Qingming Festival is not only a solar term to guide farm work, it

is more a festival of commemoration. It sees a combination of sadness and

happiness. This is the most important day of sacrifice. Both the Han and

minority ethnic groups at this time offer sacrifices to their ancestors and

sweep the tombs of the diseased. On each Qingming Festival, all cemeteries are

crowded with people who come to sweep tombs and offer sacrifices, but the

customs have been greatly simplified today. After slightly sweeping the tombs,

people offer food, flowers, then burn incense and ghost money. In short, it’s a

time to cherish the memory of our ancestors and show our respect to them. Also,

it’s a time for family gathering.

With the development of Internet, more and more people tend to shop on the

Internet. Online shopping has provided some benefits for us, but it also has

some disadvantages at the same time.

For one thing, online shopping has brought some convenience for consumers.

Instead of going one shop to another, people can choose and buy all kinds of

commodities they like as long as they click the mouse gently. This is not only a

better choice for the old who do not have enough energy to go outside but also a

great convenience for those who have no time to go shopping in person. In

addition, consumers have more choices and can do some comparison when they are

shopping on the Internet. They can glance over various commodities in all

shapes, sizes and colors and decided to buy or not. Furthermore, online shopping

has made a great contribution to the development of express delivery

industry.

However, for another, shopping on the Internet also has some shortcomings.

Firstly, those who shop on the Internet can’t try the goods before they buy.

Sometimes, the real goods are not the same as the goods they see on the

Internet. Secondly, some shops on the Internet are dishonest and they would not

deliver the goods after paying. And if this situation happens, the consumers

would find nowhere to complain and never pull out the money any longer.

Therefore, we should pay more attention when shopping on the Internet.

There is a library in every university, some schools pay special attention

to the building of the library, because the library always on behalf of

presentation of a school. We can find all kinds of books in the room, library

provides convenience, but it still has space to improve.

On the one hand, we can check the information and go to the library every

day. It is open all the week, and the time is from 8 o’clock to 10 o’clock. For

students, they can go to the place all the time. What’s more, the book they want

is easy to find, they can check on the computer, and find the number

quickly.

On the other hand, the library needs to improve its equipment. The books on

the library are very old, it is not good for students to do some research paper.

The amount of the computer is not enough, I always find the students wait for

the computer, while some students need to use the computer for a long time. So

there will be better if increase the number of the computer.

Despite these drawbacks, I am generally pleased with the library and hope

that it will continue to make improvement in the future.

On January, 2013, the public started a campaign called Clean Your Plate. This campaign aims to call on people to save food instead of wasting anything on the plates. The main theme of this activity is do not waste any food, starting with me. This campaign was first started from Sina weibo. Just a few days, tens of thousands people in China have joined in this meaningful activity.

In my humble opinion, everybody should join in this campaign. As we all know, the Chinese traditional virtue is to be thrifty even we are live in a better life. According to the latest survey, more than 50 million tons of food is being dumped in China every year. This wasted food can feed about 200 million people for a year. The old generation usually appreciates the leftover, if there is any food in the plate, they will eat them up; while the younger generation will dump the leftovers into the dustbin, they rather spend the money on other food instead of eating leftovers. I think such behavior is not only waste of food and money, but also broadcast the wrong idea that wasting food is acceptable. People should come to realize the importance of saving food. The governments should also take measures to reduce food wastage and encourage people to eat at home. What’s more, people should put an end to the expensive feasts and banquets.

I think this campaign should be moving on. Saving food for our offspring is everybody’s responsibility. Even if you’re a wealthy man, you still need to eat up the food on your plate. Waste is not a good habit.

People will make a lot of friends during their lifetime, the more friends

they make, the more capable they are. Some young people are proud of having many

friends, but only the true friends deserve us to care about. The person we make

must be positive to life. He will set the good example to you and help you to be

a better man. The bad friends will make you perverted, especially for the

teenagers, they can’t make the right judgement and are easy to follow others, so

the friends are very important part of their lives. Once they make the wrong

friends, they will do the bad thing. So we don’t need more friends, just the

right one.

Important to save water

Water is a kind of liquid. It has no taste or smell. It is transparent, too. Water is useful and is important to us. Why? For example, we use water to water the plants. We use water to wash our face or to have a bath. We drink water or we will die…Water is also very important for China. There are 2.8 hundred millions of steres of water in China, but everyone can only use 2300 steres. It is only twenty–five per sent in the world.

Not too long ago, there was a man called Jacques Cousteau. He loved the beautiful colors, and the beautiful fish in the sea. However, when he returned some years later, the colorful coral reefs were dead and grey because the factory near the sea poured waste water into the sea. Jacques Cousteau decided to tell people how important it was to save the environment under the sea. He started the“ Cousteau Society ” to help protect life in the sea. Now there are over 30000 members all over the world. Since water covers most of the earth, Cousteau knew that we should keep the sea clean. We should not litter the sea, and should clean up the dirty parts. As water is very important to our environment, he encouraged everyone to take part in protecting our lakes, rivers, sea and ocean.

There are still a few people who are not protecting the water now in the world. For example, some factories pour waste things into the rivers, lakes or into the sea near by. The water there has become very dirty and we can’t use them at all. Although there are seventy–five per sent of water in the world, we can only use fresh water, that there is only a little. So we should use little water when we need to use it. For example, I do not use too much water when I am washing my face or having a bath… It is important for us to keep the water clean. You may ask yourself, have I ever poured or thrown dirty things into the water? If your answer is “No”, that means you have already helped to protect the environment. It is our duty to protect the environment. You may ask yourself again, have I ever helped to clean up the water? If your answer is “Yes”, that means that you have already done something useful to improve the water. If we use up all the water, it is difficult for us to get it from anywhere, including the universe. It is terrible to think that people are too thirsty to live! Everyone has his favorite teacher ,so do I. My favourite teacher is Miss

Wei, our English teacher. We felt English very difficult when we began to study

person is not good at communication, when he gets in trouble, maybe no one helps

him. So we can see the importance of sociability to success.
