Almost everyone knows that water covers three-fourths of the earths

surface. Most of it， however， is in the oceans and is too salty to drink. Also，

some of it is frozen and cannot be used. In fact， less than one percent is left

for the use of people， animals and plant life. All through history men have

tried to build their homes near the sources of fresh water. Now fresh water is

becoming scarce， but more and more is needed because of the increasing number of

people in the world. Some industries also use large amounts of fresh water in

the production of things such as steel， petroleum， paper and rubber and so on.

Scientists estimate that the need for fresh water will have doubled by the year

2003. If they are correct， we must find new ways of saving it or producing it.

Some nations have worked on the problem and are already sharing their

information with others. They are trying to keep their rivers from becoming

polluted. Deep wells are also being dug， and rain water is being collected in

huge artificial lakes. In one way or another， they hope to provide enough water

to satisfy the needs of their people.

Todays society is a highly developed technological society. However, the

shortcomings in the development process are obvious, such as: carbon dioxide,

and environmental pollution. But the most serious should be the carbon dioxide

problem.

Now the problem of global warming because of excess emissions of greenhouse

gases. Excessive amount of carbon dioxide emissions, creating a diversified

economy and La Nina phenomena lag disorder. Two levels of glaciers melting,

polar animals lose their chance of survival at the same time, will lead to

rising sea levels, many coastal cities into the water did not result in a few

years later. Therefore, we must take the necessary measures to reduce the

environmental impact of carbon dioxide.

For example: tree-planting activities, reduce fossil fuel use, we can from

our own, to promote low-carbon living.

Computer is increasingly popular in people’s daily life. The number of

computer in every family is more than TV set. Some people think it is so great

that they all regard it as a gift from the heaven. However, some people consider

it brings more disadvantages than advantages. In my opinion, both opinions are

correct, but if we can use computer in a proper way, its advantages are superior

to disadvantages. I have several reasons.

On the one hand, computer makes human beings’ life become easier. People

can do many things that they can’t do before. They can read newspaper without

buying it, only sitting in front of their computer, clicking mouse to open

website. Shopping online, watching movies, listening music and play computer

games are the common things that people often do by computer. But without

computer, they can’t do all these easily. In addition, computer is also very

helpful for study and work. People can have classes and work on it.

On the other hand, computer has so many attractive things that some people

will be addicted to it. Some of them may busy finding funs on it, and then

ignore their real duty, such as, study and work. As a result, it will have great

bad effect on their future.

To sum, computer has advantages and disadvantages. But if people can

control themselves to use computer properly, it is useful for their whole

life.

Last year, I went to Guilin for travel. On the train, I felt so bored. A

girl who sat next to me was reading a book, which caught my attention. I asked

her about the book, I found that I had read it before and then we discussed

about the novel. We talked happily, when the train arrived, we got off together.

When we got aparted, we promised to keep in touch. We communicated by the

computer. Now a year has passed, we become good friends and I miss her all the

time. She is a genuine friend. I plan to go to Guilin again and then we will

meet.

Tomb Sweeping Day is on the April 5th every year. Its a day to show our great respect to our deceased ancestors. On that day, we usually sweep the tomb of our ancestors and offer them food and drinks. We also burn paper money to them. It is believed that our ancestors in heaven will receive the money. Besides, everything in our nature takes on a new look on that day, so its the best time for spring outing. It must be fun and relaxing.

When winterVacationcomes, I feel so excited, because it means I will have

a month to play with my friends. Whats more, the most exciting thing is to

spend the New Year with my families. It is the biggest festival for Chinese

people and we will prepare it for a long time. I always have good memories about

winter vacation.

It is true that no one can goes on well all the time. We will meet some

difficulties now and then. The one who runs away from the test may be a loser

and the one who has the courage to face the challenge may make breakthrough. It

is important to have confidence, and never to be afraid of meeting difficulty.

When it comes, we should not run away. Regardless of the result, we will gain

precious experience and become stronger. My parents stand by my side all the

time, and they give me the confidence to fight. I am so thankful for them. They

It is well-known that fruit is good for our health and we should have more.

First of all, fruit is good for our skin. Fruit has rich trace elements and

Secondly, fruit is good for our health. It helps to prevent and treat

on. The people who eat fruit often have less risk to get those diseases.

Last, fruit is delicious. Different fruit have different tastes. Many

people like eating it as snacks. For me, eating delicious food can make me feel

happy. I often eat apple, pear, banana, litchi and so on. I like them.

To sum up, fruit is really good for us, inside and outside. We should take

some in our daily life, but we should not eat excessively.

With the development of information industry, there are more and more

people shopping online. Shopping online means shopping on the Internet without

going out. Therefore, on the one hand, shopping online has its advantage. One

the other hand, shopping on line also has its disadvantage.

First of all, shopping online is very convenient. People can buy thing only

they have a computer, which can surf the Internet. They don’t need to go out on

a rainy day or under the shining sun. Meanwhile, people can save their time to

finish their work or other things. On the contrary, as people just decide what

they buy depending on the picture placed by the shop owner, they can’t see the

quality before they receive the product. Sometimes people maybe buy the things

are in low quality, or some fake products.

In general, shopping online has its advantage and disadvantage. In my

opinion, I prefer shopping online than shopping on the street.

Xiamen is a major city on the southeast coast of the Peoples Republic of

China.It is administered as a sub-provincial city of Fujian province .

The local vernacular is Amoy,a dialect of Southern Min,also called

Hokkien.Amoy is widely used and understood across the southern region of Fujian

over Jinmen (also known as Jinmen or Quemoy) 50 years ago.One attraction for

tourists is to view Kinmen,a group of islands a few kilometres away and under

Taiwanese control,from Xiamen island.

I like reading books so much, rencently, I fall in love with the travel

books. When I open these books, I am attracted by the colorful pictures. Reading

these books can broaden my vision, I know there are so many places that I have

never heard of before. I also learn the different culture. I am so eager to go

to these places and have a look at them. So I have made up my mind, I will

travel to the places that are around me first, and then when I grow up, I will

travel further. This is my little dream, it is also my motivation to study

well.

I want to grow up as soon as possible. When I grow up, I can do many things

that I can’t now. However, at the same time, I am afraid. I don’t know what my

future life would be. Look around myself, some people are busy working for

having enough food to eat and live better; some are achieving every goal that

they make; some may live in the poor situation. I don’t know what kind of life I

would have in the future. But I know that everyone’s life is in their hands. So

I will try my best to work hard for a better future life.

A fun-filled， pain-free lifestyle equaling happiness actually reduces their

chances of ever obtaining real happiness. As a result，many people avoid the very

attempts that are the source of true happiness.And the real happiness always

contains some pain .In the other hand， true happiness has nothing to do with

fun. All those who always have so much fun actually may not be happy at all.

I have a bitter experience. When I was a child， I lived a poor life，and I

had a happy and meaningful life in my childhood. And my parents were always

respecting each other. And now we have some money，and our life has improved a

lot. To tell the truth， it is a good thing. Unfortunately，My father always goes

out and takes part in the gambling activities. And my mother sometimes quarrels

with my father. I am extremely unhappy about it. I think money doesnt equal

happiness. And pain-free lifestyle also doesnt equal happiness. The real

happiness is that everyone loves each other， and does everything useful for our

society. Most of my classmates support me. But some of them think money is

everything. In my opinion，we cant do things without money. But money cant take

I entered the middle school, during which time I spent the unforgettable time

When it comes to success, different people have different opinions about

what makes it come true. Some people regard hard-working as an essential quality

to success while others believe being clever would lead to success. From my

point of view, I think perseverance and hard-working are indispensable for those

who want to make an achievement.

Firstly, perseverance let people step closely towards success. Most people

want to make a big difference to prove their value. People who set their goal

and keep moving would make their dream come true. However, there are some people

who set their goal but they stop at the difficulty would fail in the end. I

think the difference between success and failure is perseverance. If we have

perseverance, even if we are not clever, we will make a great difference, but if

we not, we are doomed to lose. As we all know, Edison is a great inventor in the

world. However, before he invented the bulb, he kept trying for tens of

thousands of times to find a suitable wire. Let us imagine, if he gave up at the

999th, then how he couldn’t become so successful. So, I strongly believe that

perseverance produces success.

Secondly, there is also a kind of people who are born with cleverness, I

In the modern time, the growth of technology is increasingly developed.

More and more people don’t use their brains when there is no need to use other

instruments. Too much people use technology so that people are lazier and less

healthy than before. They rely on technology too much.

Some believe that modern technology shorten the distance of human. For

instance, people all use cellphone to call friends or family, or computer to

search information, or use QQ, MSN, twitter, blog etc. These modern instruments

shorten the distance between human.

However, others think that it’s just the reverse. Technology makes people

use less face-to-face communication. The contact in real life is less and less.

People do less interaction to each other. In the long term, people will get

depressed without enough communication.

As far as I’m concerned, modern technology provides convenience to people.

It makes people easily to get information. Only could we use it correctly, it

does much contribution to us.

Winter holiday is coming. Its in December or January.I have a plan for it.

I am going to Canada during this winter holiday. I will go there by plane with

my parents and friends. I am going to stay with my aunt and uncle. There will be

snow everywhere. We can make snowmen there. Were going to go skiing,

ice-skating and have some Canadian food. We are going to visit the Niagara

Falls. Its a famous waterfall in Canada. We will also take some photos of it. I

hope we can have a grate time in Canada!

Recently, the news reported that one special kind of rhino from Africa just

passed away, which meant the disappearance of this lovely creature. What a great

pity. The tragedy is caused by the damaged environment, while human being must

be blamed for it, because we have done so many bad things to pollute the

environment and make the nature lose its balance. In order to make up our faults

and save our offspring, it is in need of protecting the environment. As the

ordinary people, we can do the small things, such as do not throw away the

rubbish and join some activities to bring the world green, like planting trees.

Every small act can make a difference. Some day, when we live with the

environment friendly, what we do is worth.

The environment of the city is getting worse and worse today. There are wastes, air pollution and so on. What can we do to save our city? About the wastes, we should sort the wastes, to see if they can be recycle used; use the reusable shopping bag instead of the plastic bags. About the air pollution, we should go to school on foot or by bike; we should also ask our family not to use car as much as possible, take the subway or bus instead. I hope everyone can see the environment problem and do the best to save our city.

My dad bought a computer when I was five years old. I could draw pictures

and listen to music on it.

But once, the computer was down suddenly.

My dad told me that it might be attacked by computer virus.

I was so scared that I asked dad anxiously, "Did it get a flu? Did it need

some medicine?" But dad laughed and said smilingly, "Dont be silly, son.

No medicine can cure a computer virus. Its a problem of program." I didnt

understand what my dad said at that time.

But I made up my mind to study hard and to be a computer expert in the

future.

Nowadays, motorcycles are popular around us. They have become an important

means of transport in Chinese cities. Compared with the bike and the car, the

motorcycle has its own advantages. First, it is quite flexible. When there is a

traffic jam, it can go through the cars that are held up in the street. Besides,

it doesnt consume much petrol. Most important of all, it can carry another

person at the back. But every coin has two sides. The negative aspects are also

apparent. To begin with, its very complicated to get qualified fur riding a

motorcycle. Youll have to go through a series of procedures to get a riding

license. Furthermore, the maintenance is expensive. Worst of all, it costs a big

sum of money to pay fur the license plate, especially in big cities.

In conclusion, it has both favorable and unfavorable aspects. However, if

the authorities concerned simplify the procedures and reduce the cost of the

license plate, the motorcycle will be accepted by more people.
