Spring Festival is the most important holiday for Chinese people. Excitement and happiness are palpable this time of the year, and they reach the peak on lunar new year‘s eve.

Though the 15-day period, which starts with the first day of the lunar new year and ends on the 15th day (known as Lantern Festival), is relatively long, it is the busiest time of the year for Chinese people. The arrangements they have to make for family reunions, buying necessities and preparing food keeps them busy throughout the holiday. Many of them travel back home and meet friends over dinner and drinks. The celebrations include decorating the house and setting off fireworks.

But we are talking about a tradition that seems to be fading.Spring Festival, as it is celebrated today, has undergone many changes, thanks to the country‘s economic development and globalization.

Yet no Spring Festival is complete without food. People could not get good food whenever they desired in earlier times, something that does not apply to society today. More often than not, people faced the risk of famine. The best time for people to celebrate was when food was available in plenty, and that was possible in spring, or the beginning of the lunar new year. That was the main reason why Spring Festival acquired such great importance among Chinese people.

But three decades of economic growth has ensured that people in China, except for those who are still poor, can enjoy a good meal whenever they want. Such has been the change in people‘s fortune that some have to be treated for obesity and other health problems associated with excessive eating.

In the past, celebrations were limited to events like song-and-dance duets in North China, dragon/lion dances in South China and fireworks, which required the joint efforts of the entire community. But economic development and urbanization seems to have weakened the social links among people. Many, especially those living in cities, are not interested in celebrating the festival with people they hardly know.

Many customs associated with Spring Festival have changed, too. In the past, people used to visit relatives and friends with gifts and lots of good wishes. Today, many people, especially the youth, use their cell phones or the Internet to send their good wishes and even "gifts" to their relatives and friends. Some may say this a sign that people have become less caring about their near and dear ones, but we should see this development as a time- and energy-saving exercise granted by the information age.

In recent times, many people have started praying for a career promotion or more money instead of invoking God or the Buddha for a healthy and long life and the welfare of their family. But the number of such people is decreasing now, which shows that people are becoming more reasonable.

"Ten, Nine, Eight ... One!" Hey! The bell of the new year sounded.Outside the room, the crackling firecrackers resigned to welcome the old; in the room, the family loved to worship the New Year, and the children were fighting for a red envelope. The family is happy and happy.Dont worry, the taste this year has just begun.

New Years Day

In the early morning, it was awakened by the rumbling sound of the cannon and the strong smoke flavor, and the taste of the year became stronger. With a sound "New Year", my pocket is getting full and more. After breakfast, our family came to the temple to pray for peace, and wished their family members in the new year.

Spring Festival Federation

This time is held in our own home. There are more programs, and the taste of the year reaches the peak.

The first show is to guess the riddles.Whether it is adults or children, all of them are scratching their cheeks and racking their brains, because ah, guessing is a bonus.Look at the "wealth fans" in our family, but it ’s really“ seeing the money ”! The cousin tried it with a word with a paper and a pen, and I could n’t wait to move the dictionary. Dad actually gave up the“ Landlord ”,He took his "thousands of golden legs" from the computer room, wouldnt it be for money? The cousin walked from the end of the wall to the end, but did not see her guess a few, so anxious that she jumped up.; Uncle was tightly drinking tea and raising it. In short, although this show needs to rely on his head to be light, it is also interesting.

The next step is to grab a stool game. I first surrounded the four benches into a circle, then picked out five people around the stool, and then let my grandfather hold the palm and stop the applause.Everyone has to sit down, and the rest of the one who has no stools must be eliminated; the last person is the winner. At the beginning of the game, my cute silly brother did not hear the rules, and ran a stool to run, causing our family to scold and laugh."What are you doing, ask you to grab a stool, you really" grab the stool "!" "You stupid!" In the end, the my aunt and I pk there, but I did not expect that she was foul.Nothing in the middle buttocks was unwilling to leave the stool, and the applause stopped, of course, she sat down than me.I entered the next link at unconvinced.

This link is "You come to guess me", there are five small families in our big family, so there are five groups.Everyone has made all the best solutions, and it is to imitate and imitate the sound. It is really no less than the show on variety shows. The most interesting thing is the grandparents team. Although they have experienced a lot, they cant read books in the era of their lives, so when they encountered some words, their faces were red and could not be drawn. If you say a word, you can guess that it is really "the emperor is not in a hurry to die eunuchs."

Then it is a program such as "pinching balloon" and "knowledge compete".Although in this winter, we were sweating, flushed, and grinned.

There are many flavors: sour, sweet, bitter, spicy, and salty, but I feel that the taste of the year is only sweet, sweet, greasy, but happy.Let us celebrate the Spring Festival, lay the foundation for the new year, and lay a good foundation for happiness and happiness!

The Spring Festival is our most solemn and most grand festival in China. Each family has been busy with a morning — — a spring festival couplet, a lantern hanging, a house cleaning, the preparation for the night dinner, all busy. My family is no exception.

Father and mother got up early to prepare for the Spring Festival. When I saw the big table, I couldnt help but the water. Chicken, duck, goose, meat, make me hungry all hook up. I hurried to ask my mother when I could eat the dinner. But the mother laughed and said, "“ and the firecrackers!" Look, youre in a hurry! ” I was embarrassed to laugh.

At the time of the dinner, my father and mother were happy to talk about his family. I could not understand it. I can only eat at one side. After dinner, our family went to play in the street together. The number of fireworks in the sky is not too many, even the car can only stop in remote places. Mother said: “ is this the people who see people, people squeeze people? ” I dont think so on the side. I looked at the flying fireworks with great relish.

We went to Lenin park to see the lantern. This is really a sea of people, but there are countless lights. The lantern here is a great variety of things. I picked up a flower lantern, which contained a plastic lotus flower, which contained a lamp. The four sides of the room embroidered dragon and the idiom of dragon, and I bought it at once.

There were more than a dozen minutes for the cannon away, and more and more people in the park. Father jokingly said: “ just go under the attic watch it here squashed. ” I and my mother laughed and said how could it be possible? But the weather, the sky began to fine drizzling rain but it could not withstand, peoples footsteps, many people still see salute.

When its time to put a gun, the park is more crowded. I stayed at the sight of such a beautiful cannon. I kept my eyes on the cannon, and even my father and mother called me, I didnt know. I have been intoxicated by the cannon in the sky at this moment.

The Spring Festival is the grand and grand festival in China, and it is also my favorite festival every year.

Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the "Lunar New Year" by English speakers. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Years Eve is known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

Celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese, Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans (Seollal), Tibetans and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar), Vietnamese (T?t), and formerly the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu). Outside of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, Chinese New Year is also celebrated in countries with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year is not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service issues New Years themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It is also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated

with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper is a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition is a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of Huangdi. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year 2009 "Chinese Year" 4707, 4706, or 4646.

The Chinese New Year celebrations are marked by visits to kin, relatives and friends, a practice known as "new-year visits" (Chinese: 拜年; pinyin: bài nián). New clothes are usually worn to signify a new year. The colour red is liberally used in all decorations. Red packets are given to juniors and children by the married and elders. See Symbolism below for more explanation.

On the days before the New Year celebration Chinese families give their home a thorough cleaning. There is a Cantonese saying "Wash away the dirt on ninyabaat" (年廿八,洗邋遢), but the practice is not usually restricted on ninyabaat (年廿八, the 28th day of month 12). It is believed the cleaning sweeps away the bad luck of the preceding year and makes their homes ready for good luck. Brooms and dust pans are put away on the first day so that luck cannot be swept away. Some people give their homes, doors and window-frames a new coat of red paint. homes are often decorated with paper cutouts of Chinese auspicious phrases and couplets. Purchasing new clothing, shoes, and receiving a hair-cut also symbolize a fresh start.

In many households where Buddhism or Taoism is prevalent, home altars and statues are cleaned thoroughly, and altars that were adorned with decorations from the previous year are also taken down and burned a week before the new year starts, and replaced with new decorations. Taoists (and Buddhists to a lesser extent) will also "send gods" (送神), an example would be burning a paper effigy of Zao Jun the Kitchen God, the recorder of family functions. This is done so that the Kitchen God can report to the Jade Emperor of the family households transgressions and good

deeds. Families often offer sweet foods (such as candy) in order to "bribe" the deities into reporting good things about the family.

The biggest event of any Chinese New Years Eve is the dinner every family will have. A dish consisting of fish will appear on the tables of Chinese families. It is for display for the New Years Eve dinner. This meal is comparable to Christmas dinner in the West. In northern China, it is customary to make dumplings (jiaozi 饺子) after dinner and have it around midnight. Dumplings symbolize wealth because their shape is like a Chinese tael. By contrast, in the South, it is customary to make a new year cake (Niangao, 年糕) after dinner and send pieces of it as gifts to relatives and friends in the coming days of the new year. Niangao literally means increasingly prosperous year in year out. After the dinner, some families go to local temples, hours before the new year begins to pray for a prosperous new year by lighting the first incense of the year; however in modern practice, many households hold parties and even hold a countdown to the new lunar year. Beginning in the 1980s, the CCTV New Years Gala was broadcast four hours before the start of the New Year.

The first day is for the welcoming of the deities of the heavens and earth, officially beginning at midnight. Many people, especially Buddhists, abstain from meat consumption on the first day because it is believed that this will ensure longevity for them. Some consider lighting fires and using knives to be bad luck on New Years Day, so all food to be consumed is cooked the day before. For Buddhists, the first day is also the birthday of Maitreya Bodhisattva (better known as the more familiar Budai Luohan), the Buddha-to-be. People also abstain from killing animals.

Most importantly, the first day of Chinese New Year is a time when families visit the oldest and most senior members of their extended family, usually their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents.

Some families may invite a lion dance troupe as a symbolic ritual to usher in the Lunar New Year as well as to evict bad spirits from the premises. Members of the family who are married also give red packets containing cash to junior members of the family, mostly children and teenagers.

While fireworks and firecrackers are traditionally very popular, some regions have banned them due to concerns over fire hazards, which have resulted in increased number of fires around New Years and challenged municipal fire departments work capacity. For this reason, various city governments (e.g., Hong Kong, and Beijing, for a number of years) issued bans over fireworks and

firecrackers in certain premises of the city. As a substitute, large-scale fireworks have been launched by governments in cities like Hong Kong to offer citizens the experience.

The second day of the Chinese New Year is for married daughters to visit their birth parents. Traditionally, daughters who have been married may not have the opportunity to visit their birth

families frequently.

On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.

Business people of the Cantonese dialect group will hold a Hoi Nin prayer to start their business on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. The prayer is done to pray that they will be blessed with good luck and prosperity in their business for the year.

The third and fourth day of the Chinese New Year are generally accepted as inappropriate days to visit relatives and friends due to the following schools of thought. People may subscribe to one or both thoughts.

1) It is known as "chì kǒu" (赤口), meaning that it is easy to get into arguments. It is suggested that the cause could be the fried food and visiting during the first two days of the New Year celebration.[citation needed]

2) Families who had an immediate kin deceased in the past 3 years will not go house-visiting as a form of respect to the dead, but people may visit them on this day. Some people then conclude that it is inauspicious to do any house visiting at all. The third day of the New Year is allocated to grave-visiting instead.

In northern China, people eat jiǎo zi (simplified Chinese: 饺子; traditional Chinese: 餃子), or dumplings on the morning of Po Wu (破五). This is also the birthday of the Chinese god of wealth. In Taiwan, businesses traditionally re-open on this day, accompanied by firecrackers.

The seventh day, traditionally known as rei 人日, the common mans birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older. It is the day when tossed raw fish salad, yusheng, is eaten. This is a custom primarily among the overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore. People get together to toss the colourful salad and make wishes for continued wealth and prosperity.

For many Chinese Buddhists, this is another day to avoid meat, the seventh day commemorating the birth of Sakra Devanam Indra.

The ninth day of the New Year is a day for Chinese to offer prayers to the Jade Emperor of Heaven (天宮) in the Taoist Pantheon. The ninth day is traditionally the birthday of the Jade Emperor. This day is especially important to Hokkiens. Come midnight of the eighth day of the new year, Hokkiens will offer thanks giving prayers to the Emperor of Heaven. Offerings will include sugarcane as it was the sugarcane that had protected the Hokkiens from certain extermination generations ago. Incense, tea, fruit, vegetarian food or roast pig, and paper gold is served as a customary protocol for paying respect to an honored person.

On the 13th day people will eat pure vegetarian food to clean out their stomach due to consuming too much food over the last two weeks.

This day is dedicated to the General Guan Yu, also known as the Chinese God of War. Guan Yu was born in the Han dynasty and is considered the greatest general in Chinese history. He represents loyalty, strength, truth, and justice. According to history, he was tricked by the enemy and was beheaded.

Almost every organization and business in China will pray to Guan Yu on this day. Before his life ended, Guan Yu had won over one hundred battles and that is a goal that all businesses in China want to accomplish. In a way, people look at him as the God of Wealth or the God of Success.

The fifteenth day of the new year is celebrated as yuán xiāo jié (元宵节), otherwise known as Chap Goh Mei in Fujian dialect. Hang up red lanterns, happy song sings, with the crackling sound of firecrackers, the Spring Festival party. Below, lets go to a small case of the waste of the Spring Festival. Let SGO!

The Spring Festival: a waste of reciprocity

The Spring Festival is a traditional festival in our country. It is a happy day for family reunion. Most people visit relatives and give gifts to each other. Trinidad send goose, courtesy light weight friendship." It has already been regarded as a custom for many people to send gifts for the Spring Festival. Among the people I am investigating, most people actually spend a lot of money to buy gifts. In fact, we dont have to spend lots of money to buy so many gifts, in fact, as long as the greetings, relatives and friends also met the joys of.

The waste phenomenon of the Spring Festival two: travel out

In the new year, many people like to take their family together to travel, and the cost is quite high, with the convenience of a few million yuan. Some of them go abroad, some go to pray, go to...... The highway is the "car mountain car sea", in common words, one word - blocking! Take the Buddha, the Buddha is straight up the number of 2016. So, I ask you: is it necessary? After the Spring Festival, the best thing is to accompany their parents and children to go shopping street and accompany them. It is not necessary to go to such a distant place.

The waste of the Spring Festival three: set off firecrackers

Crackling crackling......" When it comes to the Spring Festival, firecrackers can be said to be an essential activity for people. But its a waste, too. The smell of smoke produced after the firecrackers will affect peoples health, and the explosion of firecrackers will frighten children and the elderly. The ear injury is beyond doubt -- tinnitus, hearing loss and so on. It will also pollute the environment and cause fires. Also, some people spend lots of money to buy many firecrackers, most will listen to the sound, see the beauty of it, is not how happy, we can choose the new year a more interesting way, do not have to put the choice of firecrackers to celebrate the new year, if it is to set off firecrackers, must go to the specified place a small amount of fireworks.

The waste of the Spring Festival is four:...

Everyone singing and laughing, the scene is beautiful now singing, now dancing! Let us reduce the waste of the Spring Festival, happy happy year, red and red fire in an auspicious year!

An important activity during the Spring Festival is bainian (to pay a New Year call). People start to pay New Year calls from the lunar New Years Day, that is, the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar. Ever since the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century, ordinary people have begun to exchange greeting cards on this day.

On the morning of the lunar New Years Day, people get up very early and call on others. The earlier one does so, the more sincere he is. Moreover, people wear new clothes and a new cap, symbolizing that a new year has begun.

The younger generation should call on their elders first, such as the grandfather, grandmother, father and mother, wishing them "Good health" and "Long life". Then the elders give children some money in a red envelope as a New Year gift. After that, people call on their relatives, friends and neighbors. As "big tangerine" is a homonym for "very lucky" in Chinese, so people often present red big tangerines as a gift while paying a New Year call.

Nowadays, besides greeting cards, people also use telephones and e-mails to pay New Year calls.
