Social Networking’s Influence on College Students

Social networking has gained huge worldwide popularity in recent years, especially among college students. In China, college student is the main force of social networking, 97.7% of which are fond of instant messaging and 80.7% prefer social networking sites like micro-blog and Q-zone (China Internet Network Information Center, 2013). Moreover, Michigan State University Original Study also finds that compared with Chinese students, American students are more tied to social media (2013). Therefore, nowadays there is a heated debate about advantages and disadvantages about social networking’s influence on college students.

Obviously, there are a number of positive features on social networking. It provides a convenient access to consolidate the relationship with people they know, make friends with strangers without restrictions of space and share happiness and sorrow. What’s more, social networking also has educational functions including reducing college drop-out rates, motivating students to work as a team, sending information about assignments, reminding students about deadline and stimulating students to help each other. (BBC News, 2009). There is no doubt that social networking plays a significant role in eiching students’ college lives.

However, every coin has two sides. There are also many disadvantages on the influence of social networking, among which, “soft addiction” is the most serious problem, distracting students from study. Because of lack of self-restriction, many students would waste plenty of time to search the social networking sites unconsciously, followed by a strong tendency to blame themselves (Li, 2013). This kind of “soft addiction” and distraction was also confirmed by Zhang (2011) who conducted a survey by questionare of 500 Chinese college students from different schools and found that 33% students could not bear one-week life without social networking and 77% students could not help themselves accessing social networking site during classes. Furthermore, a social experiment was performed by Harrisburg University (Pilkington, 2010) to figure out the effect after initiating blackout of all social networking sites. It turned out that some students became more concentrated on

the tutor and making notes instead of having instant messaging running in classes.

As far as I’m concerned, the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages, especially in China, where social networking is used for communication and entertainment and seldom plays the educational role (Li, 2011). The priority of a college student is to study hard instead of being addicted to social networking. Therefore, it is imperative for them to realize their “soft addiction” to social networking and correct their behavior.

4、开展网络诚信宣传网格化专题会议。

郑州市第四初级中学校园作为2020国家网络安全宣传周“校园日”主题校园之一，在9月15日当天，学校多个优秀社团在校园内集结，集中展示了与网络安全有关的舞蹈、剪纸、书法和书签等作品。课间吸引了大批学生前来参观和参与。社团活动以其独有的趣味性把网络安全教育和中国传统以及现代文化有机融合，学生体会到了新奇，学习到了知识。此外，学生还亲身参与到活动中去，学习用剪纸，书法等形式把自己对于网络安全的想法和心意表达出来。

据了解，为了健全学生网络安全意识，提升广大师生的网络安全意识和安全防护能力，营造安全健康文明的网络环境，9月15至9月21日，郑州市第四初级中学将陆续举办网络安全教育视频观看和以“网络安全”为主题的社团活动，学校全体学生积极参与。活动中，学校以班会的形式，组织学生观看网络安全教育视频。在以班级为单位的学习中，班主任老师先是引导学生对网络安全问题进行思考，观看视频、图片、新闻、文章等让学生发现问题，并且讨论不规范网络行为对自身、家庭以及社会的危害，自己作为一名学生应该怎样去防范和宣传网络安全问题。随后，全体学生和班主任一起观看教育视频，深入学习和了解网络安全注意事项等内容。学习取得了良好的效果，学生对维护自己网络安全有了进一步的了解，并表达决心积极宣传，让更多的人意识到网络安全的问题。

郑州市第四初级中学党总支书记弓书华表示，通过网络安全周中活动的开展，学生可以更加深刻地了解到网络安全是时时刻刻围绕在自己身边的问题。学校也会把网络安全放入到学生日常学习和生活中去，坚持教育，不懈宣传，让学校成为一盏灯火，在照亮学生的同时，通过师生的力量不断地把网络安全意识扩散到社会的每一个角落。

It can be seen that some students are addicted to computer games， and the number of them is keeping rising. They always spare their learning time to play computer games，which leads them to ignoring their studies. They just surf the Internet and play computer games， so they even dont know how to communicate with others in reality. It is such a big pity that it is time to take some measures to limit computer games.

First， the teacher should be responsible for educating students to leave away from computer games. Teachers should try to make students realize the original dangers of computer games. Second，the government should check the Internet cafes at times in order to let the runners run their business legally. Third，it is necessary to make some laws to forbid the game developers to create some harmful games for students.

In a word，if the three ways above are put into practice effectively， it is certain that fewer and fewer students have interest in computer games.

如今，网络已经走进千家万户，成了人们议论的热点，网络不仅仅为人们提供了信息交流的平台，同时在人们的工作和学习中也起到了一定的帮助。

一次，地理老师让我们把作业本上的凌日现象、冲日现象写出来，可是，这两个现象在我记忆中我的老师没教过，怎么办?正在我感到迷茫的时候，我妈妈到我房间里来了，我把事情的前因后果都告诉了妈妈，妈妈这时就给我支了一招，她说“网上查呀，你总是玩电脑，怎么就不知道用电脑呢?”妈妈的这句话突然点醒了我，我马上就上网查了关于这两个现象，一会儿的时间，我就把这两个问题解决了。

网络给了我知识的补充，使我在不断进步着。随着我对网络的认识不断增多，网络改变了我的生活。

我很喜欢听歌，听姐姐她们说，她们小时候家里还买不起电脑呢，她们听歌都是买几盒磁带，拿个录音机在那儿听。现在可不一样了，我只要轻轻的点几下鼠标，好听的音乐就来了，而且比姐姐她们小时的那几盒磁带的歌曲多多了，而且现在的正版专辑也不便宜，所以用网络听歌既方便又便宜，真是一举两得。

网络再生活中的用处还多者呢，比如查一些旅游景点，可以便于选择假期的旅游地点;也可以查阅新闻，俗话说天下兴亡匹夫有责，让我妈可以在第一时间内了解更多的国内外的事情。所以也可以这样来解释网络：只要你想知道的，网络就可以告诉你，帮助你。

当然，没有一样东西是十全十美的，网络也是如此，它就像一把双刃剑，有利也有弊，虽然网络对人民来说有很大的益处，但同时也存在着一些不健康的东西，它会把你引领到一个可怕的世界，也让你无法自拔。

所以，对于一些不良信息，我们要做到不收不看，不信不传。因为网络是一个虚拟的世界，所以要时刻警惕，以免上当，只有这样的网络才是安全的。

When I first set my eyes on a father and his daughter, I heard the father ask about his daughters school life. To my surprise, the girl told his father to read her blog so that he can get what he wants.

Now, the Internet has been playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day life. It has influenced us a lot, especially on our interpersonal communication.

For one thing, the Internet makes the interpersonal communication more convenient. We can contact with each other no matter when and where. The Internet makes full use of time and space. What’s more, we can also share our daily life and knowledge through QQ, MSN, and blog with others. For another thing, the Internet speeds up our interpersonal communication. We can save time to do our work. However, the Internet also brings about many problems, such as safety problems, cheating and so on. Many people spend too much time on the Internet, and they dont have time to interact with person in real life, which result in the absence of ability in communication in reality.

It has both advantages and disadvantages to interact through the Internet. We can get to the problem in our work and study. Last but not lest, we have to talk with people and develop our ability to communicate in reality.

网络是现代人普遍使用的工具。它开启了人们的国际观，使我们更方便和亲朋好友联络，网络不但可以欣赏到世界各地的音乐舞蹈，也可以不出门直接在网络上购物。

长期使用网络，会影响到人们多方学习的能力，虽然电脑是个很方便的工具，但是其中暗藏着许多危机，例如：“网络交友、网络诈骗和病毒等等”所以我们更该提高警觉。俗话说：“为人处事要小心细心”无论是发生什么事，利用这样的心态面对，将会有不同的结果。

网络有许多的优点，网络可以不出门就得到自己所需的；网络也可以更加方便跟好连络，这样可以增进彼此的情感。网络也有许多的缺点，它会让我们沉迷在网络世界里，这样不但会影响到人与人的发展关係，也会造成的身心健康。所以我们仍要小心谨慎操作每一步，更要避免那些病毒住进我的电脑里。

这次的题目让我了解，电脑不只可以和朋友聊天，也能在网络上买东西，所以我决定我要以“小心谨慎”这种态度来和电脑交朋友。总而言之，我们做每件都要更加提防，这样才不会使我们一一陷入坑底。
