Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them.

Fifteen minutes before my turn, I picked my topic and prepared for it. I wrote down the outlines and organized what I was going to say. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty.

Then I took a deep breath to relax myself and started my speech. The result was not as good as I expected, but I preferred to regard it as a challenge to myself, whose process was the most important for me. I can learn a lot from this contest. I am sure I will be better next time.

Serious Floods

The Yangzte River is the longest river in China. And its important and helpful to us Chinese. But these days the Yangtze River is bringing us serious floods.

Many villages were destroyed by floods. The floods made hundreds of millions of people lose their homes, relatives and friends. Many children cant go to school as usual .Now the foods have drawn the attention of the whole world. People from abroad have offered their help too. In China, millions of soldiers are busy fighting against the floods. They are working very hard. Many of them have lost their lives in their attempt to save the villagers.

Though we cant help them to fight against floods, we should help them to rebuild their homeland. We can present them our pocketmoney and clothes. I believe most of the people will return to their homeland in the near future.

严重的水灾

长江是中国最长的河流。它对我们中国人十分重要。但现在长江给我们带来了严重的水灾。

许多村庄被洪水冲毁于。洪水使成千上万的人失去了家园，亲戚和朋友。许多孩子不能与平常——样去学校了。现在洪水引起了全球的注意。国外的人也给予了援助。在中国，上百万的战士忙于与洪水搏斗。他们努力工作，许多人在救村民时献出了自己的生命。

尽管我们不能帮助他们抗洪，但我们可以帮他们重建家园。我们可以捐出零花钱和衣服。我相信在不久的将来大多数人会回到家乡。

环境保护

Nowadays, peoples life has changed a lot with the development of modern technology and economy, which has put lots of negative effects on the environment.

Why this? Because, firstly, some factories are pouring wastes into rivers, lakes, seas and so forth; secondly, because of human activities, a great number of plants and animals are losing their lives; thirdly, using modern machines and chemicals is bad for the environment. Besides these, there are a lot of human activities which have done or are doing harm to our surroundings.

For this, I think, first, our government should make drastic measures to regulate human activities; second, we human beings should take pains-taking work to stop ourselves destroying the environment and try our best to protect our living space more.

Water is the source of life. Human can not do without water, animals, plants cannot survive without water. We every day to drink water, water, not only we need water, the fish in the water, the crops of the fields, the trees on the hill, and so on all need water. Some people may think so: water is to burn forever, love how how waste waste, this idea is wrong, we should change the idea.

I listen to mama said, in our city the creek, at the time of their small river on the bottom, they often catch fish in the river, catch shrimp, game play, but now is full of rubbish, into a dry river.

Water had a close relationship with each one of us, if there is no water, crops cant grow, we have no food to eat and vegetables, we wash hands, wash dishes, laundry every day... A moment also can not do without water. We cant live without water. Since the water effect, we should save water, form the good habit of saving water, do people go to close the tap, dont throw the rubbish into the river... Keep water clean.

For all of us have a good living environment, let us together hand in hand together, starts from me, start from now, sets up the idea of saving water, protecting water, take good care of water is to take care of ourselves.

水是生命的源泉。人类离不开水，动物、植物也离不开水。我们每天要喝水、用水，不光我们需要水，水里的鱼儿、田里的庄稼、山上的树木等等都需要水。有的人可能这么想：水是永远用不完，爱怎么浪费就怎么浪费，这种想法是不对的，我们应该改变这种想法。

我听妈妈说，在我们城里的这条小河，在她们小的时候河里清澈见底，她们经常在河水里捉鱼、捉虾、游戏玩耍，可是到了现在却到处是垃圾，成了一条干枯的小河。

水与我们每一个人都关系密切，如果没有水，农作物就无法生长，我们就没有吃的粮食和蔬菜了，我们每天洗手、洗菜、洗衣…一刻也离不开水。如果没有水，我们就不能生存。既然水的作用那么大，我们就应该节约用水，从小养成节约用水的好习惯，做到人走关好水龙头、不把垃圾扔到河里…使水能够保持干净。

为了我们大家有一个良好的生活环境，让我们一起携手起来，从我做起，从现在做起，树立起节水、护水的观念，爱护水就是爱护我们自己。

为了我们美好的未来，我们大家一起努力吧!

During the summer vacation, I would volunteer in the veterinarian, so I saw a lot of dogs. Minnie is so far the most interesting looking dog Ive ever seen. Thin curly hair almost covers her sausage. Her eyes always seem to be surprised when she eavesdropp. And her tail looked like a rats tail.

She was taken to sleep, because her master did not want her to go to the vet again. Id like to have a sweet Minnie personality, though. "No one should see her," I thought. When a young man called, I warned him that Minnie was unfamiliar. The boy on the phone told me that his grandfathers sixteen year old dog had just died. They want Minnie to do whatever it is. I gave a nice bathtub and Minnie what was her dishevelled hair. And then we waited for them to come.

At last, the old car was in front of the veterinarian. The two children ran to the door. They took their weapon, Minnie, and rushed her out to their grandfather, who was waiting in the car. I hurried behind them to see his reaction, minnie.

In the car, grandfather held Minnie in her arms and stroked her soft hair. She licked his face. She rocking around so fast that it looks like it might fly her body. This is the first lick of love.

"Shes great! "The old man sighed.

I was glad to find a good Minnie family, and she deserved it.

It was when I saw that my grandfathers eyes were a milky white color - he was a blind man.
