《 Notre Dame cathedral》 is one known far and wide romantic faction strength which Victor Hugo writes . I take advantage of this summer vacation free time, read this great work.

Notre Dame cathedrals story, actually was one at that time social epic poem, since brimmed with really. Friendly. Beautiful, also the flow selfish desire and is false. Regardless of is good beautiful Asmelada ,or has the ugly semblance, Cacimodo with one pure mind, they represent the great amount the lower level populace which suppresses; Perhaps is sinister Coloud, he is appears by the theocracy face, all load bearing one kind of authors ponder. The author in this work, for with the clown, was beautifully friendly and wickedly does the best annotation, or take above three people as the example, the rebel Asmelada has the beautiful semblance and the chaste good mind, as well as pitiful destiny, but Cacimodo, he withstood destiny deceive nicely, the innermost feelings is his misery is graver, but Coloud maintained the benighted social rights and interests, he had brutally. Void mind and evil passion. Good person physique hateful, but the evil person actually says the appearance shore however, bright set off, social unfair manifest.

But the article result also is when the opposition society until criticism: All beautiful is good all swallows by the might and the evil, the lower level peoples weak strength in under the king power rule, in the benighted society, only can be reduced to ashes. Was palatial Notre Dame cathedral, how many world tragedy testimony once, in Hugo the novel, he as if had the life breath, he sheltered Asmelada ,exposed Coloud the crime, regret the populace attack the magnificent feat which dark actually heroically devoted...

Another the question which is worth pondering is: Who is the hero? Asmelada or Cacimodo? I think all is not, but is in the article by the Louis 11 rank smell of blood suppression rather for sacreficed the populace gate, Asmelada with Cacimodo is not in them the representative, Asmelada is loves with the beautiful symbol, Cacimodo not many represents is unfortunate and the pain. But they, all suffer a tragic middle ages ignorant evil forces devastate, one each one painful soul is bleeding, flows the tear. Merely is Notre Dame cathedrals above engraves " the destiny "? They are in middle ages France, despotism sacrificial victim.

The entire story rich tragic color, the plot intense is moving, exciting. Author Hugo through " Notre Dame cathedral " this story, but also disclosed at that time the dark societys essence to the people. This fascinating story likes that Ccimodo clocks sound equally shocks several generation of readers minds.

I first read "Jane Eyre" in eighth grade and have read it every few years since.

It is one of my favorite novels, and so much more than a gothic romance to me, although thats how I probably would have defined it at age 13.

I have always been struck, haunted in a way, by the characters - Jane and Mr.

Rochester.

They take on new depth every time I meet them...and theirs is a love story for the ages.

Charlotte Brontes first published novel, and her most noted work, is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story.

Jane is plain, poor, alone and unprotected, but due to her fierce independence and strong will she grows and is able to defy societys expectations of her.

This is definitely feminist literature, published in 1847, way before the beginning of any feminist movement.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the novel has had such a wide following since it first came on the market.

It is also one of the first gothic romances published and defines the genre.

Jane Eyre, who is our narrator, was born into a poor family.

Her parents died when she was a small child and the little girl was sent to live with her Uncle and Aunt Reed at Gateshead.

Janes Uncle truly cared for her and showed his affection openly, but Mrs.

Reed seemed to hate the orphan, and neglected her while she pampered and spoiled her own children.

This unfair treatment emphasized Janes status as an unwanted outsider.

She was often punished harshly.

On one occasion her nasty cousin Jack picked a fight with her.

Jane tried to defend herself and was locked in the terrifying "Red Room" as a result.

Janes Uncle Reed had died in this room a little while before, and Mrs.

Reed knew how frightened she was of the chamber.

Since Jane is the narrator, the reader is given a first-hand impression of the childs feelings, her heightened emotional state at being imprisoned.

Indeed, she seems almost like an hysterical child, filled with terror and rage.

She repeatedly calls her condition in life "unjust" and is filled with bitterness.

Looking into the mirror Jane sees a distorted image of herself.

She views her reflection and sees a "strange little figure," or "tiny phantom." Jane has not learned yet to subordinate her passions to her reason.

Her passions still erupt unchecked.

Her isolation in the Red Room is a presentiment of her later isolation from almost every society and community.

This powerful, beautifully written scene never fails to move me.

Mrs.

Reed decided to send Jane away to the Lowood School, a poor institution run by Mr.

Brocklehurst, who believed that suffering made grand people.

All the children there were neglected, except to receive harsh punishment when any mistake was made.

At Lowood, Jane met Helen Burns, a young woman a little older than Jane, who guided her with vision, light and love for the rest of her life.

Janes need for love was so great.

It really becomes obvious in this first friendship.

Helen later died from fever, in Janes arms.

Her illness and death could have been avoided if more attention had been paid to the youths.

Jane stayed at Lowood for ten years, eight as a student and two as a teacher.

Tired and depressed by her surroundings, Jane applied for the position of governess and found employment at Thornfield.

The mansion is owned by a gentleman named Edward Fairfax Rochester.

Her job there was to teach his ward, an adorable little French girl, Adele.

Over a long period the moody, inscrutable Rochester confides in Jane and she in him.

The two form an unlikely friendship and eventually fall in love.

Again, Janes need for love comes to the fore, as does her passionate nature.

She blooms.

A dark, gothic figure, Rochester also has a heart filled with the hope of true love and future happiness with Jane.

Ironically, he has brought all his misery, past and future, on himself.

All is not as it seems at Thornfield.

There is a strange, ominous woman servant, Grace Poole, who lives and works in an attic room.

She keeps to herself and is rarely seen.

From the first, however, Jane has sensed bizarre happenings at night, when everyone is asleep .There are wild cries along with violent attempts on Rochesters life by a seemingly unknown person.

Jane wonders why no one investigates Mrs.

Poole.

Then a strange man visits Thornfield and mysteriously disappears with Mr.

Rochester.

Late that night Jane is asked to sit with the man while the lord of the house seeks a doctors help.

The man has been seriously wounded and is weak from loss of blood.

He leaves by coach, in a sorry state, first thing in the morning.

Janes questions are not answered directly.

This visit will have dire consequences on all involved.

An explosive secret revealed will destroy all the joyful plans that Jane and Rochester have made.

Jane, once more will face poverty and isolation.

Charlotte Brontes heroine Jane Eyre, may not have been graced with beauty or money, but she had a spirit of fire and was filled with integrity and a sense of independence - character traits that never waned in spite of all the oppression she encountered in life.

Ms.

Bronte brings to the fore in "Jane Eyre" such issues as: the relations between men and women in the mid-19 century, womens equality, the treatment of children and of women, religious faith and hypocrisy (and the difference between the two), the realization of selfhood, and the nature of love and passion.

This is a powerhouse of a novel filled with romance, mystery and passions.

It is at once startlingly fresh and a portrait of the times.

Ms.

Bronte will make your heart beat faster, your pulse race and your eyes fill with tears.

Read the red and black "is a time too long process, because time already gave writers and works most selfless and impartial judge, I like reading attitude to bestseller since can’t, and can’t be like that unbridled fiction was noncommittal on that. I’m in with the mind talking with that era, the key is in history outside of the inquiry and thinking

Lead me finish the book is gnaw its own great charm. The authors from a paper simple criminal case showed that time data broader social screen, turn an ordinary criminal improve to early nineteenth century French bourgeoisie social system, make the level of the research history and philosophy. Novel makes me see history books in curt inability to feel, that France and bourgeois big noble alternating the key period of ruling the condition. I learn realistic works of another kind of artistic characteristics of the world of people - 1783 stendhal "soul dialectics"; This and I had from the high old man ", "ouye ni · lattice lang sets of Balzac in" the experience "caused a person’s circumstances" very different.

The most dazzling encyclopedia is literary history famous characters, in SuoLeiEr natural is even higher, "civilian background, culture, as happened with the hostess governess, relationships, dew, the shot that lover, was sentenced to death" is his life’s skeleton, "pursue" happy "warm" and "perseverance and class differences revolt showed almost hero’s spirit is moving flesh and blood. The author USES desalt material description and highlight the gimmick of mind tracking, it is to strengthen the impulse even in youth pursuit of "the hero’s dream" experience, this is the social form of resistance, but also for proudlly, our lost youth rebellion.

For ambition in social reality when hampering only two choices: retreats or resistance. Those small staff in advance, not all the youth is complaining life tedious withdraws person, they maybe mediocrity comfortably was social forward eliminated. Can continually establish a life goal, decided to achieve the ideal of life is and YuLianYou masculine-looking same protesters. The era of course not welcome false words as the method, but still need enthusiasm for life to oppose empty to live. So, in the end even tragic except shows "personal rebellion won’t work" outside, the more practical significance in today’s society.

Write so far, leads to the novel to a "firsts" -- made with DE pepe reina in even Mrs "spiritual love" and to connect with DE la Moore young lady "mind love" set each other off becomes an interest. Although the two aristocratic way of love, a very different deep, a frantic, they in these two basic points is consistent, that is: to this class of disgust, MenFa system and rebellious feudal. Remember when julien jeanvier find their love is morphing into vanity said "I put their tools can be destroyed", after the detail is "a proud with malicious expression between the most sincere quickly replaced the most intense love, look." The noble from miss is always slow as the tortoise climb, like life, with a loss of dignity method. Evoked love Book two paragraphs of tragic love has always been with the progress of the upstart dominated and even inferiority in the suspect, until brought life shall be the end, love that broke the futility of primitive sparks, a illnesses.

When I will put pen to write with consciousness, found that when the time already can feel with the time with a psychic reading the original compared. I’m excited to gain against mediocre revelation, moved by those although distortion and still heroic love segments. The book was welcomed by generations of readers, and love. "Pride and prejudice", published in 1813, a love story is novel, the novel of the communist party of China involves four marriage, but each have each characteristic.

In a word, no matter from content and Austins novel narrative techniques, "pride and prejudice" is a classic.

Recently, I have reading the book "Jane Eyre”。 Although I forgot some details in the book, Jane gave me deeply impression, I admire her very much. After that the teacher also told us to put the play in to a movie, and then we all can touch each hero’s soul in the book. The play it mainly tell us how Jane is growing up when suffering from great difficulties and painless. whats more, it is impressed me that she still love her master even if he is blind at last due to rescue his mad wife.

And I like the Classic lines what Jane said to Mr. Rochester :"Do you think I can stay to become nothing to you? Do you think I am an automaton?--a machine without feelings? and can bear to have my morsel of bread snatched from my lips, and my drop of living water dashed from my cup? Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!--I have as much soul as you,--and full as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you.

I am not talking to you now through the medium of custom, conventionalities, nor even of mortal flesh;--it is my spirit that addresses your spirit; just as if both had passed through the grave, and we stood at Gods feet, equal,--as we are!" its so beautiful, Jane is a girl who will never lose confidence in life and always sensible when handling with some motional problems. Jane was huge in my heart. She can control her life and fate. She knew how to continue her life and she got it!

Maybe after what she told me I have known that what love is and how to love and to be loved! The book is a book worth of reading, so all in all let’s enjoy it.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by the famous English writer, Jane Austen, who was the sixth children in a family of seven and was born in the village of steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died of Addison’s disease in 1817. The book first published on 28 January 1813 by the bookseller Thomas Egerton who had also published Sense and Sensibility, the original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impressions .

Pride and Prejudice is a love story, mainly tells the love between Elizabeth and Darcy. It divided into 2 volumes and is composed of 42 chapters altogether. The major characters are Mr. Darcy, A rich and proud young man. Elizabeth, the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Bingley , A rich young bachelor. Jane, the first daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Bennet. The story begin with Bingley’s arrival. One day when Mrs.Bennet hear Bingley has taken Netherfield, a house near her’s. She is so happy and arranged one of her five daughters marriage with him. At a ball, luckly, Bingley and Jane fall in love at the first sight. Darcy, a friend of Bingley’s , was attracted to Elizabeth, a lively and spirited girl. But Darcy greatly offends her by his supercilious behavior and this dislike is increased by Wickham, a dashing young militia officer of the unjust treatment he has met with at Darcys hands.

One day when Darcy and Bingley’s two sisters disgusted with the vulgarity of Mrs. Bennet and her two youngest daughters, effectively separated Bingley and Jane. Meanwhile, Collins, a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, married charlotte, a friend of Elizabeth’s, for Elizabeth’s refuse to marry him. But One day Darcy send Elizabeth a letter, in which he justifies the separation of his friend Bingley and Jane and make it clear that Wickham is. So Elizabeth changed her opinions and ideas toward him. Once when Elizabeth visited her uncle and aunt in the north of England, she met Darcy there and witnessed his changes through series of behaviors, no longer pride and become gentle and attentive, all these made their marriage arranged, and they also suitably provided for Bingley and Jane’s reunited and engaged. The story ends with both their happy marriages.

My point of view towards the masterpiece of Jane Austen’s is that this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative, and tells us the difference ways and attitudes to marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet’s five daughters’. Thereby reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid Without considering all of these. There, the author emphasize the importance of ideal marriage, meanwhile, to be opposed to love & marriage based on money or property and to be opposed to people’s laugh love & marriage off.

The author takes the affection/love as the cornerstone of ideal marriage between male and female. Elizabeth as the leading character in this novel, was born in the family of squireen’s, and is loved by Darcy. Darcy propose marriage to her in spite of difference in the possession of property and social status, but is refused byElizabeth for his pride , the novel demonstrate that if the pride of Darcy’s existed , there will be no love and also happy marriage between Elizabeth and he, it is really nice that Elizabeth witness the changes of Darcy’s through series of behavior in the following days.

Viewing that he is no longer pride and then eliminating her prejudice to him, finally engaged with him and leading a happy marriage. The author described that female is in pursuit of independent personality and equal right through several different attitudes of Elizabeth for Darcy’s propose marriage. Meanwhile, demonstrate Elizabeth’s independent understanding for a happy marriage. In this article, the writer described several unperfect marriages of Elizabeth’s sisters and close friends, aimed at making a sharp contrast with Elizabeth’s beatific marriage and revealed that marriage without love but base on social status and property actually is a kind of public tragedies. Humorous, ironical, polished language and real storyline is also occurred in this article.

"Trust, tend to create a better state." Have you heard of this sentence? At first, Im not very deep impression of the words, but I saw the les miserables this book, I feel trust is an important thing.

Jean valjean was the hero of the story, he experienced the jail for a long time, finally got the freedom, but who also dont believe him, in the plight of the destitute, he got the bishop - MiLiYi care. However, because of jean valjean was a convict, people can not accept him, no one has seen him. Wait for him again, he is ready to help others, the people did not know he was jean valjean, all like him. Unfortunately, not for long, he was arrested again, forced labor in the ship. But he didnt die, during the French revolution of the battlefield, he is fearless, fighting in the bullets, rescue by people.

But when people know that he is jean valjean, pairs of cold eyes looked at him, eyes full of hate. This means that if other people dont believe you, you in any way to hard to erase their SINS, let people believe in you.

All of this shows that you trust others, others will feel very good, also will trust you. When two people trust each other, or the more people trust each other, the world will be how beautiful.

There was a strange stillness. The birds, for examplewhere had they gone? The feeding stations in the backyards were deserted. The few birds seen anywhere were moribund; they trembled violently and could not fly. It was spring without voices. On the farms the hens brooded, but no chicks hatched. The roadsides, once so attractive, were now lined with browned and withered vegetation as though swept by fire. These, too, were silent, deserted by all living things. Even the streams were now lifeless.

This is a strange scene described by Rachel Carson, who is regarded as the mother of modern environmental protection movement。 Silent Spring is her representative work which lighted the fire of environmental protection in America and the whole world. Before 1960s, no books or magazines talked about things like environment and ecosystem. Such a phenomenon means that environmental protection had not come to people’s mind and the social consciousness. Indeed, the main opinion in human society from the very past about nature is to set war against or conquer it. In fact, many of human’s progresses are made on the base of such opinion. Rachel Carson was the first person who doubted the correctness of the belief and brought the topic under focus.

In Silent Spring, Carson described a miserable village which was dying under the using of DDT. The village used to be prosperous and beautiful. In spring, white clouds of bloom drifted above the green fields. In autumn, oak and maple and birch set up a blaze of color that flamed and flickered across a backdrop of pines. Then foxed barked in the hills and deer silently crossed the fields, half hidden in the mists of the fall mornings. She thought that with the using of variety kinds of pesticide, especially DDTs, the village suffered enormous and irreversible damage and gradually withered and died. Soon it became just like the one described in the beginning. From her fine and smooth describing, I can even feel the groan of the town. Moreover Carson also sharply pointed out that the deep-seated cause for the environmental problem is the human’s arrogance and ignorance. So she asked people to correct the attitude toward the nature and reconsidered the developing path of human being.

Carson thought that because of the antibody and differentiation, pesticides would never be completely useful. On the contrary, those more and more poisonous medicines, because of the enrichment effect, would accumulate in humans’ body. It’s quite sarcastic that we hurt ourselves much badly while hurting the others. Then she analyzed many poisonous components in pesticides. Those are all unfamiliar names except DDT, such as chlordane, chloronaphthalene, compound 497, etc.

Those things really make me feel scared. We are on the top of the food chain, and it is such a perfect and fragile system. We human beings are just part of it and we depend on all of the creatures who stay on the lower positions. It is so hard and ridiculous to try to match the nature. Only in the state does man have a rational existence. Every species have their value to be on this world. Then no one knows what would happened if we force them to disappear. For example, let’s imagine the food chain as a meticulously made castle built by billions of little blocks and we human beings are the top one. There might be several tiny blocks on the bottom which you think is useless and dispensable. But what would happen if we take them away? Perhaps nothing happened, and perhaps the whole castle ruined.

Destruction is always much easier than recovery, not counting those incurable ones. Humans always think that we are much cleverer than the other animals, so we become more and more conceited and firmly believe that we are the king. We didn’t see that the nature is so magical and knows how to revenge. The pay back is much more violent and cruel. We need balance and order. The nature has its own rule. Our aim is to use it and live in harmony with it. The ecosystem is so delicate that even a tiny disturbance could lead an unexpected consequence, just like the butterfly effect.

At the last chapter, some scientists came up with other ways to solve the pest problem----biotic control. There is now a bly running tide of interest in chemical sterility. Those sterile insects are released and mate the normal ones so that they won’t have any larva and get extinct gradually. This solution seems to be reasonable and helpful, but thinking about it carefully, you’ll find that it is just another way to ruin the food chain castle. Not only spring, but also summer and autumn would be still and silent in the future.

It is lucky that Rachel still kept her mind clear. She didn’t agree with the way of conquering the nature. At the very end of the book, she wrote, The ‘control of nature’ is a phrase conceived in arrogance, born of the Neanderthal age of biology and philosophy, when it was supposed that nature exists for the convenience of man. This sentence can be regarded as the book’s theme topic which is widely quoted in all kinds of articles about environmental protection.

Carson is a great woman and fighter. When writing the book, she was suffering from huge pain of the operation for mammary cancer. After the book was published, the widely affect brought her not honor and fortune, but fierce attack from the chemical estate. She died only one year after the book’s publishing. On the spring of 1964, the great woman passed away, but Silent Spring made her voice never silent.

The 20st century was a time that technology and economy developed rapidly, especially the 40 years after Silent Spring was published. But every spring, when flowers bloom, trees sprout, and water begins to flow, we used to recall a woman and her enduring works. We opened the window, and wonder if the spring is silent today, if it will be silent tomorrow.

Little Women is a novel published in 1868 and written by American author Louisa May Alcott. The story concerns the lives and loves of four sisters growing up during the American Civil War. It was based on Alcotts own experiences as a child in Concord, Massachusetts with her three sisters, Anna, May, and Elizabeth.

Little Women is the story of The Marches, a family used to hard toil and suffering. Although Father March is away with the Union armies, the sisters Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth keep in high spirits with their mother, affectionately named Marmee. Their friendly gift of a Christmas holiday breakfast to a neighbouring family is an act of generosity rewarded with wealthy Mr. Laurences gift of a surprise Christmas feast. However, despite their efforts to be good, the girls show faults: the pretty Meg becomes discontented with the children she teaches; boyish Jo loses her temper regularly; while the golden-haired schoolgirl Amy is inclined towards affectation. However, Beth, who keeps the house is always kind and gentle. After certain happy times winning over the Laurences, dark times arrive as Marmee finds out about her husbands illness. Worse is to come as Beth contracts scarlet fever in her Samaritan efforts for a sick neighbour and becomes more or less an invalid. The novel tells of their progress into young womanhood with the additional strains of romance, Beths terminal illness, the pressures of marriage and the outside world. This is the story of their growing maturity and wisdom and the search for the contentedness of family life. It was written in 1867 and is a fictionalised biography of Alcott and her sisters. It has become a much loved classic tale and, while some of its issues seem outdated, many of the trials of the sisters are all too relevant today as evidenced by its continued following.
