The inspiration for Anna Sewell’s novel was drawn from her own relationship with horses. Anna Sewell was born on March 20th, 1820 in Norfolk, England and was crippled while still very young. Due to her disability, she relied on horse-drawn carriages and grew to love horses as a result. She also became appalled by the careless and cruel treatment horses often received from humans and determined to write a book.. In the second year of work on the book, she was told that she had only eighteen months to live, but she persevered in order “to induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding [of the ] treatment of horses.” Five years later, she was still working on Black Beauty, her only book. Unfortunately, Sewell died a few months after publication and never learned of the book’s huge success. Black Beauty formed an impassioned plea for animal rights at a time when such a notion had been dismissed as ridiculous.

The novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in Britain during the Victorian Era. In that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. In order to call people’s attention to horses’ hard life, Sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. This innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. Readers heard the stories straight from the horse’s mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. People were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.

Sewell formed the novel with three kinds of characters: Black Beauty, Ginger and other farm animals. Through their different experiences, I saw similarly painful lives led by the animals. This method made the earnest appeal for animal rights become more and more persuasive.

As a domestic animal, Black Beauty was continuously sold from one family to another. Over the years Beauty enjoyed good masters but also endured mean ones. Sometimes, he was cared for and at other times tortured. In the end, everything turns out all right in a story that is so tender and yet meaningful. His story was so vivid that caught the readers’ heart. The novel brought people laughter and tears and also enlightened them to understand animals at the same time.

Animals cannot speak so understanding is significant to them. Once, for example, Beauty was drawing the carriage to a wooden bridge. The bridge was flooded out in the river and John, the groom, was not aware that it was cracked. But the quickly realized that something was wrong because of Beauty’s abnormal behavior. Momentarily, a man shouted to them, “Stop! Stop!…The bridge is broken in the middle. If you come across, you’ll fall in the river!” Beauty had saved John. However, if John had not tried to understand what Beauty wanted to tell him, there would definitely have been an accident. I learnt from the story that understanding animals is not only essential to them but is also beneficial to us ourselves.

I read the book then watched the movie, both of them ga一ve me great shock, I really admire Meggie,she had the courage to use her whole life to love Ralph, never ga一ve up. She believed that she would love Ralph only in her life. But I don’t like Meggie’s attitude to love, Ralph is a Father, and he mustn’t love Meggie, they really loved each other, but they are not destined to be together. So in my opinion I think Meggie should give in, she shouldn’t fight with God, Ralph had told her he would serve God forever, so Meggie wouldn’t win. Maybe giving up is a good choice. Their love is painful.

Tell the turth I don’t like Meggie neither Ralph, Ralph could not give Meggie happniess while Meggie couldn’t support Ralph to concentrate on his work. So they would not ha一ve happy life, they only made each other feel sad .

Frank is my fa一vorite role. he was short but strong ,and he was one of the main labor in his family. He didn’t want to be a shepherd, but the family needed him , and he must feed he the sheep so that everybody in his family can live better. Once he escaped from home , but it wassn’t long before his father found him and take him home. I feel so sorry that he had a miserable fate. He longed for freedom but most of his life didn’t belong to himself, it’s really a pity .

Frank was different to every man in their home, he loved his mother deeply, and he always helped his mother do the housework. he dreamed to be an outstanding boxer. Frank was considerable, and he always try his best to make Meggie feel happy. As Meggie’s oldest brother, he could be worried about Meggie’s fa一vorite doll, and he even tried to fixed the doll which was distroyed by Meggie’s other brothers. Frank and Meggie would always tell each other what they thought in their deep heart , and they are close friends.

I was so sad when I learned that Frank killed a man and he was sent to the prision. It is really a big shock to Meggie, for Frank was the only one who can listen to Meggie’s secrets. She thought she lost Frank forever. I cannot imagine how painful for Frank to spend dozens years in the prision. He once had good dream about his life, but he had to waste most of his life in prision. In my opinion it was Frank’s father that distoryed his life. His father didn’ t give him freedom, and Frank can’t had strong resistance spirits, and because he didn’t control himself and broke the law.The energitic Frank will never come to us, and he became a man who didn’t wanna talk. He began to be afraid of the world…it is really a pity.

As for Meggie, I think she was a good girl. She was beautiful and smart, but she it was wrong for her to love Ralph. Meggie was an excellent girl, she was able to find an outstanding boy to love her, but she put all her love on Ralph even she married Luke. She married Luke just because Luke looked like Ralph. Meggie wanna be a thorn bird, but I think it was too cruel to her. She was so kind that she shouldn’t stand that king of pain, and I think she was born to ha一ve a happy life. I pity for her.

Both the story of thorn birds and the legend are painful and beautiful, but not every one can be the thorn birds, because it is not our porpose to ha一ve a painful life. We are born to be happy. Olny happiness is the ture meaning of life while the story was written for us to enrich our life. It is a wonderful story.

So they all take the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. On the way to the Emerald City they met some difficulties, but they solved them successfully. After they met the Wizard of Oz, the wizard gave them another challenge—to kill the bad Witch of the West and they accept. During the way to the Witch of the West’s house, they were caught by the witch and Dorothy was requested to work for her. One day, when the witch tried to catch Dorothy’s red shoes, Dorothy threw some water on the witch by accident and the Witch of the West disappeared. Only water can kill her. So Dorothy went back to the Emerald City with her friends but they found the Wizard of Oz is not a real wizard, he is also a man came from Kansas, and he is just a conjurer. 这使我感到很愤怒，凡事都应该人人平等，而这些人却只看重钱，只要有钱人都会把他招待得很好，可遇到没钱的就会高傲无礼。这人人平等的道理用到哪里去了?

在我们生活中，也经常有这样的事，大家都喊着应该人人平等，但看到有钱人，却缺一个个都低声下气，只想多拿些钱，多赚一点，我认为这是很不正气的表现，希望大家都能一起，把城市中的不正之风改过来!

“书是人类进步的阶梯——高尔基”，今天读的这本书是《安徒生童话》。

这本书的作者是鼎鼎有名的汉斯•克里斯汀•安徒生，丹麦19世纪童话作家，被誉为“世界儿童文学的太阳”。他写的童话故事告诉了我们什么事善，什么是恶。

读完这本书令我印象最深刻的是《卖火柴的小女孩》。故事讲述了一个小女孩的爸爸妈妈都死了，奶奶也撒手于人寰，小女孩为了活着，她不得不每天到大街上去卖火柴。在一个除夕夜里那天大雪纷飞，小女孩说：“谁来买我的火柴呀？谁来买我的火柴呀……”人么匆匆忙忙的赶路，谁也没有理那个可怜的小女孩。小女孩一盒火柴也没有卖掉，她走着走着发生了一些事把鞋子给丢了。小女孩只好赤着脚走在雪地里每走一步就像和海的女儿走在大陆上一样刺痛。小女孩来到一幢房子旁边，看到了他们一家人幸福的吃着饭，房间的温暖……那时小女孩的眼神是多么的渴望、羡慕。

风还在嗖嗖的刮着，女孩找了一个角落坐下，他感觉更冷了，就拿出一根火柴再墙上划一下，火柴燃出了火花。小女孩仿佛自己坐在火炉前，里面的火烧得正旺。突然，火炉消失了，只剩下一小截烧剩的火柴梗。

女孩又划了一根火柴，火光照在墙上，墙变透明了。她看到了一个桌子上放着一盆烧鹅，肚子里塞满了梅子和苹果。突然，那只烧鹅从盆子里跳了出来，径直朝小女孩走了过来。可是就在这时，火柴灭了。小女孩又划了一根火柴，这次小女孩看到了她的奶奶，小女孩拼命地划火柴，她希望奶奶带她去另一个地方，奶奶拉着她飞上了天，飞走了。第二天人们在角落里看到了嘴角挂着一丝恬静的微笑的小女孩。

我恨那冷酷的社会，恨那资本主义社会。富人过着无忧无虑的生活，而穷人只能等待死亡。一根渺小的火柴干不了什么大事却能温暖一个小女孩。在小女孩走的时候，她感受不到这个世界的寒冷、饥饿，她眼前的世界是一个五彩斑斓的世界。

小女孩跟我们差不多大，想一想我们在干什么。打开我们的衣柜上面挂满了春、夏、秋、冬的衣服，而小女孩的衣服到冬天都漏风；我们每天都吃得饱饱的还剩了很多，而小女孩有时饭都吃不饱；我们每天都不需要担心的生活，而小女孩却要担心；我们每天……为什么同样是少年，一个过着幸福的生活，一个过着悲惨的生活。一个是资本主义社会，一个是社会主义社会。之前听过一个很形象的比喻，如果社会主义社会是天堂，那么资本主义社会则是地狱！

别看它只是一个童话故事，却蕴含了许多道理。安徒生曾说过：“我用我的一切感情和思想来写童话，但是同时我没有忘记成年人，当我在为孩子们写一篇故事的时候，我永远记住他们的父母也会在旁边听，因此我也得我他们写点东西，让他们想想。”《安徒生童话》不止适合儿童也适合成年人。

暑假里，妈妈给我买了一些书籍，每天去暑期班上课的时候，我都要带上这些书，在自习课的时候去阅读。有一本叫《小巴掌童话》的书，它是一本很有趣的童话书，里面有许多好玩的故事和诗歌，下面我要跟大家分享一下这本书。

在一个神奇的小巴掌里，有数不清的童话住在那儿。每一个故事都很精彩，让人记忆深刻，回味无穷。倾听雨的乐曲，真是好清脆;小青蛙助人为乐，把温暖送给大家;《寻找糊涂蛋》则告诉我们做事不能粗心大意;《吊在月亮下的贪心鬼》则告诉我们人不能贪心，贪心会让人做出糊涂事，最终将自酿苦果，一事无成。我以后一定不贪吃，不贪睡，不贪玩，做一个听话的好孩子，好好学习，天天向上。

小巴掌童话是一本好书，让我学到了很多知识，又懂得许多道理。

昨天，我看完了一本书，名叫《丑小鸭》。内容是：一位鸭妈妈生下了一堆鸭蛋，不久就一颗一颗的破了，但是还有一颗大大的蛋没有破，一会儿，一个又大又丑的鸭子摇摇晃晃地走出来，它全身是灰色的，大家都叫他“丑小鸭”小鸭们把他赶走了，他来到了很多地方，有小湖、农民家……还险些被打死，它渡过了寒冷的冬天，一次它到一片湖上玩耍，看到一群群白天鹅，它非常羡慕，后来丑小鸭经过不断的练习和挫折，最后丑小鸭变成一只白天鹅。

像在生活中我们也要向丑小鸭一样坚持，找到一个梦想就不放弃，要坚持下去。

记得有一次，我看见别人在玩单车，我眼都不眨一下的看着，好酷啊，跑来跑去的、可好玩了。我就想要学，我就找了朋友借了一辆单车，我坐在了单车上，摇摇晃晃地，把握不了平衡，摔了下来，摔了个地朝天，全身脏脏的我又坐上了单车，这次显然比上会好多了但是还会摔下来，我下定决心一定要学会单车。

每周的周六、周日，我都会拿一些时间来练习。学啊学啊，不知经历了多少次失败，多少次摔到地上。但我还是不放弃，因为我说到的事就一定要做到。

最后我终于学会了单车，但是一些陡的地方我还是不能，但是我还是说到做到了：“我一定要学会单车。”

读完《丑小鸭》的故事，我终于明白，原来逆境时可以让人成长的!只要不被挫折击败自信自强，最后就一定能走向成功!
