元宵是团圆的日子，自然少不了一顿丰盛的午宴。宴席通常在中午十二点开始，万家鞭炮齐鸣，当满城的地面都被喜庆的红色铺满时，人们便开始吃饭了。汤圆当然必不可少——每逢元宵。

奶奶的汤圆最令我挂念——奶奶不会夹馅，所以总是把汤圆揉成一个个小团。但这一点都不影响它的味道：煮好后盛起来，一人面前一碗汤，加上白糖和炒好的芝麻，绝不亚于蒋雯丽代言的那“味美香甜甜”的“三全凌汤圆”。

南漳不是个富裕的小城，没有太多的财力来举办灯会。可这并不影响家乡人赏灯的情趣。小巷里，小贩摆弄着各式各样的花灯，牢牢拽着妈妈衣角的孩子睁大眼睛望着花花绿绿的闪光物，央求着。大人无奈地望着孩子，掏出钱交给满脸笑容的小贩。孩子得了心爱的玩具，高兴得手舞足蹈。

每看到这些，我都会想起自己那如梦般干净淳朴的童年。

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

春节大扫除

Tomorrow is New Years Day, my family have had a completely cleaning for

two days. Then my father and I decorated our flat and my mother cooked delicious

food for our meal. After supper we watched TV program. How happy we were!

明天是春节，我家里以近在两天前做了彻底的大扫除。然后我和爸爸一起装饰家里，妈妈则在烧好吃的东西。晚饭以后，我们一起看电视节目，我们多高兴呀!

The fifteenth day of the first month is a traditional festival of our

Chinese nation. At this moment, my heart has been hooked by the rich dinner. Who

makes today the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth day of the first month!

"The moon is round and round on the 15th day..." this classic song is

around my ears again. Listen... At this time, I have come to my grandparents

house: "Grandpa, grandma, happy Lantern Festival!"

After dinner, dusk shrouded everything around us, so we decided to go to

Swan square to enjoy the moon.

Lantern Festival evening, my mother and I went to buy rice dumpling Vanguard. Many see the package dumplings aunt, my mother and I also participated. The Festival of Lanterns takes place at the end of the Chinese New Year Celebration, on the fifteenth day of the first moon. Lanterns have been part of Chinese life for centuries so its not surprising to see a festival of lanterns.

People usually hang lanterns in the gardens, outside the houses, and on the boats. These lanterns are signposts to guide guests and spirits of ancestors to the Lunar celebration. After a sumptuous fifteen-day feast, these lanterns light the way for the spirits back to the world beyond.

Silk, paper and plastic lanterns vary in shape and size and are usually multi-colored. Some are in the shapes of butterflies, birds, flowers, and boats. Other are shaped like dragon, fruit and animal symbols of that year. The most popular type of lantern is the horse-racing one, in which figures or animals rotate around the vertical axis of the lantern.

The special food for the Lantern Festival is Yuen Sin or Tong Yuen. These are round dumplings made with sticky rice flour. They can be filled and served as a sweet snack or made plain and cooked in a soup with vegetables, meat and dried shrimp. The round shape of the dumpling is a symbol of wholeness, completeness and unity.

The Lantern Festival is an occasion for families to get together and for everyone--young, old, rich and poor to have fun.

Though I am a child, my parents will not force me to do things as their words. They always tell me the choices and let me make my own decision. Actually, the finally decision I make is what they want me to do. I feel to be respected, because they help me to make the right choice and treat me as an adult.

虽然我只是一个小孩子，但是我的父母从不会强迫我按照他们的想法做事。他们总是让我自己做选择。实际上，我做出的最后决定也正是他们所希望的。我觉得我受到了尊重，因为他们帮助我做出正确的选择，把我当作成年人来对待。

A Happy Day

Today is Saturday， my family and I go to have a picnicin the park， I feel so excited， because our family does not have the activityfor a long time. At first， I go to see the park and play for a while， then Icome back to my parents， and join them. I play games with my parents， theylaugh happily. Today is a happy day for me.

今天，我和哥哥一起去南后街看花灯。我们经过一条小河，小河的水很清，我可以看见河底的小鱼游来游去。

时间过得真快，我依依不舍的离开了南后街。

中国的传统节日有很多：春节、端午节、中秋节、元宵节等等。每个节日里的风俗习惯都截然不同，我最喜欢的节日就是元宵节。

每当到了元宵节时，我们都会兴高采烈地到店铺里买花灯，买蜡烛。到了晚上，家里人就坐在一起吃团圆饭，这一天的风俗跟过年时没有什么两样，只是元宵节晚上有“迎花灯”，过年时没有而已。元宵节晚上吃团圆饭时，餐桌上摆满了丰富的美味佳肴，真是应有尽有啊！

吃完团圆饭，人们就会提着五颜六色的花灯出去外面“迎花灯”。尤其是一些小孩子，他们非常喜欢到处逛，会到人比较多，路灯比较少的地方去“迎花灯”。因为在比较暗的地方“迎花灯”，花灯会显得更加亮丽，更加光彩夺人。当然，我们一家人也都到外面去“迎花灯”，一会儿走到这儿，一会儿又到了那里。虽然不停地走来走去脚会很疼，但是我们还是非常开心的。

晚上，空中升起了无数盏孔明灯，星星点点的孔明灯把黑色的夜空点缀得更加美丽。放孔明灯的人把愿望写在孔明灯上，然后将它们放飞。传说愿望写在上面后放飞，愿望就会实现。

又是新的一年，新年这天，很快就过了。又到了正月十五——元宵节。

这年的元宵节和上一年的元宵节截然不同。

这一天，首先，我要和姐姐到姑姑家去帮忙，还有舞狮的、舞龙的。差不多到了中午，我和姐姐又回我家，这里，亲戚们已经来了，我们村里，家家户户都要杀鸡，一些是用来接待亲戚的，还有一两只鸡是用来拜神的。只见家里忙里忙外的，吃饱后，每家都拿出一封炮，等待哪些神们的到来。每家都有一个代表，手里拿着许多香，我和妈妈远远地听到了炮响声，果然，不久后，一队人朝着我们过来了，我们见了神，就拿着手中的香拜了三拜就把香扔在了地上，算是迎了神。然后，我们到了庙们前看舞狮子和舞龙，他们先是舞龙，先是两条金黄色的‘龙’在盘旋着，然后又到了一条橙色‘龙’出场。最后，到了两只‘狮子’出场，有一个环节，是舞狮子头的人骑在了舞狮子尾的人的身上，简直酷呆了。最后，是拜了神后就每家都拿着自己家的鸡回家了，还有人分猪肉呢。

这个元宵节是我过得最快乐的一个元宵节了。
