It is believed that the Palace Museum， or Zi Jin Cheng (Purple Forbidden City)， got its name from astronomy folklore， The ancient astronomers divided the constellations into groups and centered them around the Ziwei Yuan (North Star) 。 The constellation containing the North Star was called the Constellation of Heavenly God and star itself was called the purple palace。 Because the emperor was supposedly the son of the heavenly gods， his central and dominant position would be further highlighted the use of the word purple in the name of his residence。 In folklore， the term “an eastern purple cloud is drifting” became a metaphor for auspicious events after a purple cloud was seen drifting eastward immediately before the arrival of an ancient philosopher， LaoZi， to the Hanghu Pass。 Here， purple is associated with auspicious developments。 The word jin (forbidden) is self-explanatory as the imperial palace was heavily guarded and off-explanatory as the imperial palace was heavily guarded and off-limits to ordinary people。

节日起源

从1924年中国人第一次庆祝“三八”国际妇女节以来，该节日己经成为了国共两党领导中国妇运的重要场域。“三八”国际妇女节代表革命传统及其作为中国百年妇运特殊的公共文化空间。中国人首度公开、正式庆祝“三八”国际妇女节在1924年3月的广州，当时正是第一次国共合作的蜜月期。

1922年7月召开的中国共产党第二次全国代表大会开始关注到妇女问题，在中共二大《关于妇女运动的决议》中提出“妇女解放是要伴着劳动解放进行的，只有无产阶级获得了政权，妇女们才能得到真正解放”这一后来以一贯之的妇女运动指导方针。随后，向警予出任中共第一任妇女部长。在随后的几年里，她多次在上海领导女工斗争，仅1922年一年间就在上海的六十间丝厂、三万名女工中先后发动十八次罢工。但是当时中共内部妇女力量薄弱，1922年6月时只有女党员4名，到1923年6月时也不过13人。建立广泛的妇女运动统一战线的需求迫在眉睫，在1923年6月中共三大《关于妇女运动的决议案》中就提出“一般的妇女运动如女权运动、参政运动、废娼运动等，亦甚重要”、“本党女党员应随时随地指导并联合这种种运动，口号应是“全国妇女运动的大联合”、“打破奴隶女子的旧礼教”、“男女教育平等”、“男女职业平等”、“女子应有遗产承继权”、“男女社交自由”、“结婚离婚自由”、“男女工资平等”、“母性保护”、“赞助劳动女同胞”。这些口号之外，还应加入“打倒军阀”、“打倒外国帝国主义”两个国民革命运动的口号，以引导占国民半数的女子参加国民革命运动”

就在中共二大召开的这一年，孙中山在上海召集国民党改进会议，再次改组国民党，在新修订的党纲与总章里规定设立“妇女委员会”，以“调查国内外妇女状况，并研究国内妇女问题之解决方法”。1924年1月，中国国民党中央执行委员会妇女部部长何香凝在广州召开的国民党一大上提出了“妇女在法律上、经济上、教育上一律平等”的提案，获大会通过，促使《中国国民党第一次全国代表大会宣言》的政纲中明确规定：“于法律上、经济上、教育上、社会上确认男女平等之原则，助进女权之发展。”从而确立了妇女在社会各方面平等合法地位的原则。何香凝作为中国国民党早期最重要的妇女运动领袖的地位是毋庸置疑的。这一时期，作为国民党中央的一个党务部门，国民党的妇女部同样关注“国民革命是妇女的唯一生路”，将妇女解放与国家救亡紧密相连;在这一点上，国共两党妇女工作有着基本的共识。

当国共第一次合作实现后，遵照两党的决议，女共产党员和青年团员以个人身份加入国民党，参加国民党各级妇女部的领导工作。向警予、蔡畅、邓颖超、杨之华等中共早期妇女工作领袖都先后在国民党中央妇女部和沪、粤等地的地方党部妇女部担任领导职务。

发展沿革

1924年广州对于“三八”国际妇女节的纪念活动，不仅成为中国首次公开的“三八”节纪念活动，也成为国共两党合作的妇女运动统一战线的重要场域，“国际妇女节因而也成为广大妇女教育、检阅自己力量和加强团结的盛大节日。”

1924年2月下旬，在国民党中央妇女部干部会议上，何香凝提议在广州举行庆祝“三八”国际妇女节大会，由中央妇女部负责出面发起集会和游行示威，会后何香凝承担了纪念活动的筹备事宜。1924年3月8日上午，中国第一个公开纪念“三八”国际妇女节活动在广州举行，广州各界妇女2000多人参加。何香凝主持大会并发表演讲，介绍了“三八”妇女节的由来及纪念它的意义，痛述了广大妇女在帝国主义、封建主义压迫下所遭受的种种苦难，鼓励妇女坚决地走“打倒封建主义，打倒帝国主义和妇女自求解放的道路。”

庆祝大会结束后，何香凝同与会者一起举行示威游行，高呼“打倒封建主义、打倒帝国主义”、“保护童工孕妇、革除童养媳、革除多妻制，禁止蓄奴纳妾，废除娼妓制度”，“争取妇女解放”等口号，“第一次将中国妇女的要求全面提出来了。”何香凝还组织10余人散发会议口号和传单，派出27个演讲队，分赴工厂、剧院等处演讲，宣传会议精神，启发妇女群众觉悟。以此为契机，广东妇女运动逐渐开展起来，越来越多的妇女投身到妇女解放和国民革命的洪流中。

国共两党的妇女部在1924年2月末、3月初围绕“三八”国际妇女节举行的一系列活动，首开国人庆祝国际妇女节的先例。这一年还是“除广州外，别处的女界，不曾听到对于这国际妇女节有怎样的举动。”但此后，“三八”国际妇女节在中国各地、各妇女团体间迅速传播，每年的庆祝活动不断。1925年“三八”国际妇女节，各地妇女代表齐集北平，为抗议段祺瑞政府视女性为非国民的荒唐选举权规定而举行示威游行。1926年“三八”国际妇女节，“尤其是上海、广州、汉口、天津的劳动妇女群众”，“轰轰烈烈地开展了大规模的纪念运动”。在杨之华的回忆中，这一年的纪念活动不仅在京沪穗这样的大城市声势浩大，甚至深入到梅州、梧州、宜宾、保定、酉矍陵、平江这样的中小城市。

1927年3月8日的武汉更是空前的热闹——10万(也有说20万人)妇女大游行，庆祝国际妇女节。有着传奇人生经历的共产党员黄定慧(当时叫黄慕兰，是中共武汉妇女部部长)20世纪90年代在口述回忆中称：“1927年，我被任命为‘三八’国际妇女节庆祝活动的筹备主任…3月8日那天，十万多名妇女在城市中央广场集合，我们先开了个会，国共两党中的许多著名人物都来了，宋庆龄、何香凝和柳亚子也来了。我是会议的主席，这是党和人民给予我的莫大荣誉。这件事使得许多人至今仍记得我。讲话后，会议结束了，然后十万多名妇女行进到嘉宾所在的看台，再继续向市中心游行。”

虽然之后不久，国共第一次合作就失败了，但是“三八”国际妇女节作为重要的教育、动员场域这一传统，却在国共两党的妇女工作中都得到了保持。1932年在瑞金庆祝中华苏维埃共和国临时中央政府成立后的第一个“三八”国际妇女节，“召开有数万人参加的大规模群众纪念大会”，毛泽东发表讲话，并“检阅了苏区的妇女赤卫队”。陕甘宁边区建立后，每年的“三八”国际妇女节，不仅有常规的庆祝活动，中共中央还会有针对性地提前发布文件、指示，比如1938年的《中央为“三八”节工作给各级党部的指示》，1941年《中央为“三八”节工作给各级党委的指示》和1943年《关于各抗日根据地，目前妇女工作的决定》等。“三八”节和围绕节日的庆祝、纪念活动，成了中国共产党一年一度发布妇女工作政策、建立妇女工作统一战线、动员基层妇女参与妇运的重要抓手;这一传统在新中国时期也得到了很好地继承。

而在国民党方面，“三八”国际妇女节作为动员妇女的重要公共活动空间这一功能，也并未随着大革命的失败而消解。虽然南京国民政府对于群众妇女运动采取了紧缩政策，但无论是在“新生活运动”中，还是后来的抗日战争期间，“三八”国际妇女节都不仅是个重要的节日，还是响亮的战斗号角。而民间的妇女组织，更是利用“三八”国际妇女节这一得天独厚的机会，以各种形式发动妇女参与妇运。比如1931年“三八”国际妇女节，南京各界妇女集会，并向国民政府及国民党中央党部请愿，要求政府规定妇女参加国民会议代表名额，这一活动间接促成了1936年国大选举成功产生妇女代表，这是近代中国妇女参政运动迈出的重要一步。

抗战爆发前，“三八”国际妇女节的庆祝活动更是成为了中国各界要求“停止内战”、“一致抗日”的重要场域。女作家谢冰莹曾经写过“多难的‘三八”’一文，纪念1932年上海“一二八”淞沪抗战时期，她和她的朋友们自费创办《妇女之光》杂志，投身抗战，并计划在3月8日举行示威游行，结果却在妇女节当天遭到巡捕查禁的遭遇。1936年的“三八”节，虽然当时政府已下令禁止集会游行，但北平、上海等地仍都举行了盛大的示威运动，中国共产党更是组织各界妇女2000多人举行了纪念大会，提出“妇女界团结起来”等口号，会后并举行规模巨大的示威游行。这是日后全民抗战中妇女运动的先声。而抗日战争期间，无论是重庆、延安、西安、成都，还是孤岛上海，每年“三八”国际妇女节都会举行各种各样的庆祝活动。以1940年为例，“不但重庆、成都、金华、昆明、桂林、贵州……等大城市里热烈的举行纪念‘三八’大会，有千万人行列的游行，发行特刊……在各处偏僻的乡镇也都举行了纪念‘三八’。为了争取全民抗战的胜利，在这一年的‘三八’各地妇女一致地提出了要‘实行宪政’、‘反汪肃奸’及‘全国妇女大团结’的口号”。限于篇幅，无法详述这些活动以及这些活动背后国共两党的组织发动工作，但“三八”国际妇女节作为国共两党领导中国妇女运动的重要场域，这一点是值得重视的;而中国的“三八”纪念活动背后的革命性、斗争性也是值得铭记的。这国际妇女节庆祝活动会演变成国共两党争夺对于中国妇女运动话语权与领导权的舞台。

近代发展

1949年以后，《人民日报》每年发表“三八”国际妇女节社论，该社论成为了“由全国妇联主持的代表国家行为的‘三八’节大型纪念活动的重要组成部分”，显然，自大革命以来，以“三八”国际妇女节为重要载体开展妇女工作的传统在新中国得到了很好的继承。

1960年以来对“三八红旗手”和“三八红旗集体”的评选与表彰活动，更将新中国成立以来以“女劳模”为象征的“新中国妇女”形象赋予了更明确的性别属性。“三八红旗手(集体)”的评比活动始于1960年，1960年1月29日《人民日报》提出了评比标准。而1960年2月15日的《人民日报》通知中进一步指出该评比活动的意义在于，“全国妇女一定要人人树雄心，个个立大志，争取成为红、勤、巧、俭的社会主义劳动妇女，为完成和超额完成1960年国家建设计划，为高速度建设社会主义作出更大的贡献。1960年3月5日，由全国妇联等9个团体和中央人民广播电台联合举办的纪念“三八”国际劳动妇女节、表彰和鼓励一万个(实际是10002个)“三八红旗手”(6305名)和“三八红旗集体”(3697个)的广播大会在北京举行。现在的人们已经很难想象这个广播表彰大会之盛况空前，“从边疆到内地，从沿海到山区，我们辽阔广大的祖国就是广播大会的会场。参加大会的有一亿二千万以上的各族各行各业的妇女。”

虽然受文化大革命的冲击，全国妇联业务工作在文革期间基本停止，《人民日报》从1967年开始不再发表“三八”社论。但以康克清、邓颖超为首的中国的妇女工作领袖们锲而不舍又充满智慧的努力，使这一传统在1973年得以恢复，这与中共中央重建妇女组织、再度重视妇女工作的进程完全契合。1978年3月4日，全国妇联在人民大会堂召开首都各界妇女庆祝“三八”国际妇女节的座谈会，在文革期间中断的“三八红旗手(集体)”的评选活动在1979年得以恢复——使得1924年以来，“三八”国际妇女节作为中国妇女运动和妇女工作重要场域的传统得以继续。

教师节，是我国仅有的包括护士节、记者节在内的三个行业性节日。自1931年以来，我国在不同历史时期共有过4种不同日期和性质的教师节。

从前，大概是孔子那个时代吧，就有教师节。最初的时候，每个老师门下都有若干的弟子，这些弟子每年总会相约在师傅的生日那天举行一个简朴而庄重的仪式，用虔敬的心态向师长送去敬仰和祝福。

我国历史上曾建立过教师节。1931年，教育家邰爽秋、程其保等在南京中央大学集会，发表要求“改善教师待遇，保障教师工作和增进教师修养”的宣言，并议定6月6日为教师节，也称双六节。不久，国民党政府先是同意6月6日为教师节，后又将教师节改为8月27日(孔子生日)。建国后，中央人民政府曾恢复6月6日为教师节，教育部通告各地教育工作者，可以根据实际情况自行组织庆祝活动。1951年全国教育工会成立，教育工作者被确认为工人阶级的一部分。1951年4月19日，教育部长和中国教育工会全国委员会主席发表书面谈话，宣布“五一国际劳动节”同时为教师节。但由于这一天缺少教师的特点，执行的结果并不理想。特别是1957年以后，在“左”的思想影响下，教师不受重视，教师节实际上已不再存在。
