The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most popular traditional festivals

celebrated in China, which is on the fifth of the fifth lunar month, also known

as Duanwu Festival. It’s said that it is to commemorate the death of a Chinese

patriotic poet, Qu Yuan, who was snared by corrupt officials in ancient China

and finally committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River to protest

against them.

The traditions and customs held on this festival differ from place to

place, but there are some common in them. First, the most famous and great

tradition is holding Dragon Boat races, which are held by fishermen’s attempt to

protect Qu Yuan’s body against attacking by fishes and other animals in the

river by beating drums and row the dragon shaped boat. Nowadays dragon boat

races have been an annual popular sport activity among people. In addition,

making and eating Zongzi—a dumpling made of glutinous rice and wrapped in bamboo

or reed leaves—is also a popular custom during this day. It can be made by many

kinds of stuffing. What’s more, hanging herbs on the front door, drinking

realgar wine and pasting up picture of Zhongkui—a mythic guardian figure in

ancient china—are also popular during the festival, which are mean to protect

people from evil and disease.

These customs and traditions have been changed a little in recent years,

but they still make contribution to the spread and inheritance of Chinese

culture.

Aducation is not an end, but a means to an end. In other words, we do not

educate children only for educating them. Our purpose is to fit them for

life.

In some modern countries it has been fashionable to think that free

education for all can solve all the problems of society and build a perfect

nation. But we can already see that free education for all is not enough.We find

in such countries a far larger number of people with university degrees refusing

to do what they think is "low"work, and. in fact, working with ones hands is

thought to be dirty and shameful in such countries.

But we have only to think a moment to understand that the work of a

completely uneducated farmer is far more important than that of a professor~ we

can live without education,but we die if we have no food. If no one cleaned our

streets and took the rubbish away from our houses, we should get terrible

diseases in our towns.

In fact, when we say that all of us must be educated to fit us for life, it

means that we must be educated in such a way that, firstly, each of us can do

虽然夏天很美，可是我又讨厌夏天，因为夏天很炎热。习惯了每天呆在空调间里，一走出去，火辣辣的太阳炙烤着大地，都快将我烤焦了，汗水像瀑布一样流淌着，大豆般的汗珠从我的额头滑落，湿透了我的衣服。小花、小草们耷拉着脑袋，无精打采的，大树卷缩着叶子，它们像一个个害羞的小姑娘低着头。

知了在树上休息着，一遍又一遍毫不厌烦的叫着“热死了，热死了”小狗伸着舌头，躲在树荫下乘凉，往日那繁华的大街变的冷清了，大家都躲在家里避暑，只有太阳这是精力旺盛，热火朝天地工作着。我赶紧从冰箱里拿出棒冰来，一口咬下去，啊，爽!我开了空调又拿了扇子，来驱赶着这酷暑。唉，夏天真热!

热情、豪放、浪漫、永恒，编成了夏天品质的绝美光环。我们所以要拥抱夏天，就是要享受骄阳，让我的人生充满温暖：享受风雨，让我们的人生充满力量;享受绿色，使我们的灵魂在生命的成长中得到安祥和祥和。

夏天非常炎热，太阳炙烤着大地，把大地都烤干了，如果这时你把手从屋里伸到外面就可以感受到太阳的威力了。你瞧，树叶打着卷儿，耷拉着脑袋，仿佛在说：“再继续这么热，我可受不了了!”树上的知了躲在树丛中，随时出来唱一曲“热啊!热啊”的歌;门口的小狗吐着舌头，仿佛在说：“这天，咋地这么热呢?”

这时，夏天的雷雨是最让人期盼的。天一阴沉下来，马上要下雨了的架式一出来，让你来不及思考，像剑一样的闪电一下子就劈向大地，好像要把天劈成两半，接着能听到“轰隆隆”的声音，这是雷公公在天上打着鼓呢!紧接着豆大的雨滴直接冲向地面，雨滴非常有力，打在身上会很痛，地面上马上就汇成了一条小河流。

雨过天晴，青蛙在河边“呱呱呱”地叫着，好像再说“雨后的空气真是清新啊!”。荷花就像一个小姑娘，早早地就抖开了它那粉嫩嫩的花裙子，对着我们微笑。一阵风吹过来，小姑娘们在河上跳起了美丽的舞蹈，献给我们看。

夜晚，萤火虫飞出来了，它们打着自己黄绿色的小灯笼，在枝头翩翩起舞，如果它们都聚在一起，围成一个圆形，就会变成一个非常小的灯笼，漂亮极了。

院子里，老人们摇着扇子，不停地扇。大人们会津津有味地吃着西瓜来。孩子们会吃起各种味道的冰条，有西瓜味、草莓味、香蕉味……孩子们高兴得喝冷饮，跳到水里游泳……

我喜欢夏天，它很美。清水涟漪的池塘中，那碧绿的叶子衬着那淡粉色的莲花，使我浮想联翩，王昌龄写的《采莲曲》呈现在我的脑海中荷叶罗裙一色裁，芙蓉向脸两边开。莲出淤泥而不染，瀖清莲而不妖。站在池塘边，看着那一池的莲花，原本那疲倦的思想，一下子抛置于了九霄云外，感到了清新。阳光洒在水面上，池水变得波光粼粼。一阵微风拂过，一层层微波荡漾开去，虽然是夏天，但我却感到了春天般的温暖，秋天般的凉爽。田野里，各种颜色的野花开了，远眺，田野成了花的海洋。红的似火，黄的如金，白的似雪，粉的若霞风儿悄悄掠过，野花和着风声跳起了优美的舞蹈，它们随风摇摆。啊!夏天的田野真美!

说到夏天的颜色，你一定想到的是红色吧。抬头望去，火辣辣的太阳不正是红色的象征吗?

可我不这么觉得，我认为夏天的颜色是绿色。

你抬头是红，可低头是绿。大片墨绿的老草中夹杂着零零星星的嫩绿的新草，交织一起，那便是绿色的大海。不光如此，“懒摇白羽扇，裸袒青林中”。李白这般悠闲自在的生活不光与绿草相伴还有青林相随。茂密的枝叶，摩肩接踵。这不正是昆虫理想的家吗?在声声蝉鸣中，这绿又多了一份生机。

“泉眼无声惜细流，树阴照水爱晴柔。”小泉在杨万里的绝句中也是一抹绿。泉眼悄然无声是因舍不得细细的水流，映在心里的树阴喜欢这晴天里柔和的风光。难道映在水里的只有“树阴”吗?当然不是，还有那附在“树阴”上的“树绿”这将小泉渲染的浅绿，如同蝉翼，又轻又薄。如同披纱，若隐若现。这一抹绿之中，不单单只有泉还有荷。“小荷才露尖尖角，早有蜻蜓立上头”。初生的荷叶刚从水面露出尖尖角，早就有一只蜻蜓立在它的上头。绿里生绿，泉的浅绿荷的碧绿。可蜻蜓和鱼儿哪会管这些，它们已经迫不及待地沉浸在这绿色之中了。

“接天莲叶无穷碧，映日荷花别样红”。杨万里又在这首诗中巧妙地道出了另一种绿。那密密层层的荷叶铺展开去，像与天相接，一片无边无际的青翠碧绿。在这无穷无尽的碧绿之上，就是夕阳下荷花分外鲜艳娇红。荷与莲，绿与红，这不就是粉绿。就像是在荷叶姑娘的脸上涂上了胭脂。
